What is bedside mode? Is there a way that when i charge the phone, the screen goes blank? Don't really want the clock on my screen. Also, it seems like only sometimes does my email icon on my phone get the little read dot that indicates a new email. Some times it does, some times it doesn't. Also, my fiance has a bold as well, and I tried to text her this morning. I went to compose SMS, but it going out as a BB messenger conversation instead.
Anyone know if it is possible to have the screen fade off during bedside mode? I like the auto profile and LED off feature but I would like the screen to go off when I'm charging on the cradle at night. I'm a little paranoid of having the screen on all night every night when it is on bedside mode.
I have the device set up for "Bedside Mode" when charging (sits in the OEM dock at night). I left the device "on" and placed in the dock. The keyboard light, screen all dim as they should and the "clock" displays on screen as well. Then after about 20 sec the keyboard buttons all turn on and the screen brightens up. A couple of sec's later they all dim back down. This process repeats itself over and over like the damn thing has a heartbeat or something! I don't recall this doing this the first two nights that I used the new dock/bedside mode.
I put the phone in bedside mode then drop it in the cradle and when I wake up the clock is gone and the phone is frozen. It won't let you do anything not even shut it off, I have to do a battery pull.
Ive had my phone on the charging pod and it automatically turns on bedside mode dimming the screen but leaving it on for as long as it sits there. However, when i manually go to the clock and turn on bedside mode it dims and after the preset time i have for the display to turn off it turns off. Is there a way to always keep the screen on while in bedside mode but not on a charging pod?
I've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.
So earlier today before I went in to school I put my phone in bedside mode (so that the led would not blink (I use berrybuzz, which is very bright)) then locked the keyboard and put it in standby, for added security, before putting it in my book bag. After 2nd period I got my phone out and it was hot, as if it had been continuously downloading something or playing a video. The screen was dim but never turned off. The battery, which was at 100% only 1 or 2 hours earlier, was drained to 1 bar. I checked to see if any apps were running, with no luck, and then pulled the battery out and left it out until about an hour ago or so. The phone is fine now, but I don't know what happened.
Yesterday u had my phone updated at the sprint store. Then last night when i went into bedside mode the clock went out after a short while, Previously, it stayted on all night as intended. I have gone to options in clock and have tried the both dim yes and dim no. I am at a loss for what to do next.
We need to be able to set up a silent profile while in Bedside Mode that allows sounds from selected contacts to come through. The "Play Sound: Always" for selected contacts should override any and all profiles set. In my case what I'm trying to do is to receive notifications or sounds from my family while the device is charging and in bedside mode but ONLY from them. I set a "Sleep" profile that is silent with the selected contacts to ring Always and it doesn't work.
Does anyone know of a way to further dim the clock when the BB is in bedside mode? I keep my screen brightness at 60%. When my BB is in its charging cradle and in bedside mode at night (set to auto dim) it is still too bright (according to my wife). I'd really like to be able to dim the screen so it is barely visible - perhaps 10% brightness - while in bedside mode.
I like the bedside mode. Recharges and gives me an alarm clock as a bonus! But, since I upgraded to the official Verizon 4.7.1.61 version it only works sometimes. It goes to the clock face and dims when I insert the Blackberry in the stand but most of the time it is on the home screen in the morning. Also, sometimes the settings I have given for the bedside (no alarms) have been reset to normal when I leave the bedside mode and sometimes they are not.
What all exactly is bedside mode supposed to do on the s2? I tried it last night thinking it would kill my alerts but I still got some, so I actually had to go into silent all alerts under profiles to stop my phone from going off last night.
Basically I have been reading that in bedside mode you can get the clock to stay on (dimmed) while charging. However I found a problem. This works only if I disable the password prompt, as certain people have a habit of picking my phone up when its on the side I like to keep it the password protection enabled. What I was wanting is the display the clock when in bedside mode without turning the screen off while still keeping the password protection enabled. Is this possible?
Apologies if this has been answered already, I've searched for quite some time and not been able to find the answer I'm quite new to BlackBerries, and have had a Storm2 for about a month now. Each night I plug it in to charge and use the Bedside Mode. What I'd like to do is have it so that it all notifications are off, except for those from specific contacts. I've set up a BlackBerry Contact Group with those people in (ie just family, close friends, important colleagues, etc.). Is there a way for me to do this?
When I put my phone on charger at night it enters bedside mode. Currently I have it set to silent for all. However, I would like two things to get through. Berry weather advisory, and phone calls from one or two contacts. I don't want phone only because I don't want to be woke up by just anybody but I would like for one or two people to be able to get through in case of a emergency.
I have had a Storm 1 for a couple of years now and my biggest pet peeve is the brightness of the clock after dimming in bedside mode. I'm looking at upgrading to the S2. Can you adjust the brightness of bedside mode in S2?
I would like to think of myself as a pretty knowledgeable blackberry user but I'm stumped here. I just got a replacement storm2 and can not get the clock to stay on while in bedside mode even when plugged in charging. I have tried every possible option I can think of and it still dims then goes black. There has got to be a setting I'm missing somewhere.
This is something I've dealt with and have tried to address ever since ICS was released. Each night I set my phone into the standard dock (non-usb one), and the bedside mode comes up as it should and the screen dims after a minute or so as it should. It is usually around 10 to 15 minutes after I dock the phone that the problem occurs. What happens: The bedside alarm app is removed from the screen, revealing the home screen in landscape mode. My screen then times out (shuts off) as it should, because the bedside alarm clock is not the active window. My alarms work fine, but I can't see what time it is when I wake up before my alarm goes off unless I turn the screen on and look at the lock screen. I've tried factory resets, fxz file, removing all apps from recent apps list, resetting the alarm app data, nothing seems to.
(1) When connecting to wall-charger at night, device does not automatically enter bedside mode, even though specified in settings. When manually entering bedside mode, the screen goes black after several seconds; unplugging the device reveals that the device is in bedside mode, but isn't known because of black screen.(2) When connecting to USB-charger to my PC, the phone enters bedside mode and stays in bedside mode like it should.Device info9550Verizonv5.0.0.1015 (Bundle 1656, Platform 4.2.0.442)Apps and free spaceFile free before battery remove/replace: 116765295 Bytes File free after battery remove/replace: 118299711 BytesDid a battery pull fix your issue

My BIS stops working every time my Network mode is 3G. (or 3G & 2G)the little BB symbol just disappears, internet, BBM & email will not work.As soon as I put my phone in to 2G mode everything starts to work.I'm on Three UK network witch is 3G by default.is this a common problem with the 9700? or does my phone need looking at?
Where can I find the settings for standy mode? my phone does not go into standby mode anymore when i pout it into the holster, i know there was a setting but i cant find it anymore.
I have recently installed OS 6 on my Bold 9700, but it keeps on going into waiting mode (small clock face on screen). I have tried deleting programs that I don't need, but haven't solved the problem.
I have bold 9700 running os6 but I want to get back my 2g only option in mobile network options. I use BB 9700 of H3G UK. In OS5, it has 2g mode, 3g mode and 2g&3g mode but there is no 2g mode in Mobile network option in OS6. I have tried to reinstall OS6 and nothing change.
Is there a better way to do get the 2g only option back?? Don't tell me that I have to downgrade to OS5
