Just got the new Bold 9650. Should I have the firewall enabled, and the encryption enabled? What else should I do to make sure that my phone is secure?

I've just noticed my 9520 firewall has becomed enabled and kicked as if it's on an iT policy. Has rim changed something?
I've had the phone for about a week and I absolutely love it except that at seemingly random moments my phone will block the viewing of any and all of my SMS messages saying "Content protection is enabled". It will show up at the beginning of newly received messages and even in the middle of real-time conversations between someone else and I and then I have to wait for the message to "go away" so I can read what the response was and continue the conversation. Is it something I'm doing? A default phone feature? Is anyone else experiencing this issue or at least know how to solve it?

I flashed the factory images last night effectively wiping my Nexus 5 and starting from scratch. I did not restore apps and settings either. After I manually installed a bunch of my apps back and changed around a few settings, I decided to enable encryption. However, I don't think it enabled properly.
First, I had not set a PIN lock on my phone yet at the time. When I decided to enable encryption and go through the process, it didn't ask me to enter a PIN. It seemingly completed encrypting the phone. When I go back to the security menu, it says "Encrypted". However, I am not prompted to enter a PIN upon booting the phone (not talking about the lock screen PIN). So, it seems like it didn't work but I'm not sure. I saw the performance degradation that comes with enabling encryption but I'd rather have the security.
According to this Motorola FAQ about their Android encryption, "When SD card encryption is enabled, all new files added to the removable memory will be encrypted. Files stored on the card will not be readable via another phone or card reader connected to PC. User can transfer files from encrypted SD card to PC using embedded Phone Portal application." So what happens if a user encrypts their data and their phone dies? They will not have the opportunity to transfer it to a PC and the replacement phone will have a different ESN. Is their data recoverable via any other mechanism or is it lost forever?

The user then unlocks the device and <content protection is enabled> is displayed instead of the actual text of the SMS message. If the user closes the SMS and then relaunches it the message is displayed properly.

I purchased an iPhone 3GS with an Optus Pre-Paid deal (with 3G included) many years ago. My Optus contract finished and terminated. I started a new business contract with my fathers company Telstra Plan with a new non-3G enabled plan. I recieved a new simcard and everything worked (other than 3G ofcoarce).
The Telstra Business Plan has been completed and I have re-entered a new contract period with Telstra again. But this time I have organised 3G to be enabled. The plan has commenced but 3G doesn't actually work. I have unlocked my IMEI number through Telstra and I was told to Sync my iPhone. I completed the sync and I still don't have any 3G capability! Can anyone recommend a way of getting the service enabled properly? I have tried the Telstra website to send me the settings (it also didn't work).

I have a problem with calls on my Z3 dual and the Answering Machine after the update to L.I don't have Smart Answer enabled -gesture to answer calls- but when I answer a call too close to the time set to the Answering Machine to kick in, when the call reaches this time (say 25 seconds) the call will be interrupted for about 2 to 5 Â seconds where I can't hear the other party and they can't hear me, and then the call will resume.If I disasble the answering machine, this bug is gone.I have cleared data of the phone app but still this issue persists.
