my iPhone 4s has no sound for incoming text messages or alerts. only working sound is incoming calls. I have already ck'd the settings and done a reboot. there are a lot of these inquiries on google and most of them say I need a replacement phone.Â

View 7 Replies View RelatedI did the most recent update for May23, 2012 and since I updated the phone I no longer am receiving sounds on alerts or incoming texts. Also when i type on the keyboard, there is no sound. My music works no problem and when I test the ring tones, they all come up on the speaker, but my phone now only vibrates when there's a new text. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have checked all my settings, reset the phone and everything and still no sound.

My iphone 3GS has no sounds now except the phone ringer. I have toggled the mute switch back and forth and it makes no difference. When I go into settings for sounds I see at the top that it is marked silent. However I cannot find any way to switch that off and reset it back to sounds. The only thing that seems to work now is vibrate and the phone ring.

I have Twitter alerts coming to my BB.They come in as SMS Text Messages. Now because of the number of texts, I usually have my Profile set to Phone Only. Otherwise my BB would be sounding off every couple of minutes! And I don't want that happening at work.However if I get a Text from a family member or friend, I tend to miss it because I've turned off the sound for Texts!
I know I can create an Exception for Phone Calls but how can I do the same for Texts? I would like for a Tone to sound when a Text comes in from a family member or friend, not for every single Twitter Alert!!
I updated to the new version of O/S 2.2 last week on my defy. Right away I noticed two things that are killing me. First, I can no longer use the flashlight on my camera. Secondly, when I send texts, sometimes I get no alerts showing the person responded. Example: no sound, or flashing green light. It drives me nuts because I will text someone and await their response.. only to check my phone and see they responded an hour ago but I had gotten no alerts.

I have just bought an X3-02 and am missing so many text messages, not returning missed calls etc. How can I programme this *** phone so that the phone rings every x minutes when I receive a text or a missed call? My phone is a UK model.UK Vodafone have terminated the Passport service as of 1st November which means I now go on to NZ roaming which at �1.65/NZ$3.30 a minute is somewhat steep - I also pay that amount for the incoming call.I now need to block all incoming calls on my phone so as I am not tempted to answer calls at odd times of the day or night (quite hard when we are 13 hours ahead of UK and totally out of sync with them) and pay extortionate amounts of money BUT I need to leave the phone available to make and receive text messages.It is not as easy as to just get a NZ phone contract as this was my life line with friends and family in UK until my provider pulled the passport service so need to disable the phone I have.how to do this so as I can still send/receive text but NOT receive voice calls on my S2?

But its definitately on the list on the phone)So I try to select my ringtone and click 'Try It', and it says the following:"Invalid ringtone selected; please make another selection."Anyways, the problem goes away for a few hours after doing a battery pull. This had never happened before. Now the ringtone doesn't play at all and none of the other alerts sound at all. If I try and test them they either do not play or I get an error stating it is invalid. If I get a voicemail I'll get a weird beep but that is about it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a brand spanking new BlackBerry Curve 9360 that just arrived yesterday. It is great apart from this very frustrating small prob. I can not customise my message alerts for individual people in my address book. When I click on "try it" only the LED button flashes and there is no sound or vibration. I am trying to get the sound and vibrate to play as "active profile" but it just won't. I can override it and have custom volume and vibrate that plays no matter what the profile but as I sometimes like to set my main profile to vibrate or silent, it won't do.
So far, to fix it, I have tried: Wiping profile and sounds from the blackberry softwareFull factory resetCreating my own profile and using that instead of "normal" or any of the other preset onesLoads of battery pulls before and/or after any changesI have also had a few different people text me to make sure the problem isn't just the "try it" feature. It isn't. The sound that plays is always the default message sound for whatever the default profile is.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI did SSH my iphone using DISKAID, and in DISKAID there's this random glitch where sometimes when you're renaming a file it will name the whole folder the new name, and it happened to me with the MobileSMS.app folder, but i changed it back and didn't notice any problem. about an hour later i get a text (sound works), and while typing my reply the SMS app froze (if it's any clue it was during the magnifying glass thingy was on). I went in and out of the app using home button (multitasking enabled) but it wouldn't unfreeze so i rebooted the phone and it came back normal. but since then- no incoming SMS sound!
What's even weirder than that is the fact that even if i'm going to SETTINGS SOUNDSNEW TEXT MESSAGE and tap the different ringtones I don't get any sound!
Oh - another clue:
During my browsing through the phone's file system I did find another "ringtones" folder somewhere and deleted them all except for two - but as far as I know the call ringtones and the SMS ringtones are never in the same folder.. still, could I have deleted the SMS ringtone files? that would make pefect sense but.. is it even possible? or could it be something I accidently changed in the MobileSMS.app folder?
