Lately, incoming texts are not activating the selected sound. I have checked the sound in the settings and it works. But why does it not sound when a text comes in?Â
View 7 Repliesmy iPhone 4s has no sound for incoming text messages or alerts. only working sound is incoming calls. I have already ck'd the settings and done a reboot. there are a lot of these inquiries on google and most of them say I need a replacement phone.Â

No sound at all for incoming calls, txts, games. I have checked the side mute switch. Volume is all way up. All notifications are on. I can hear tones when I go to change them. I can hear my music. I can hear talking on videos I have taken. I have tried everything I know to do. I have had this phone for 14 months so the warranty just ran out!

I have iphone4. All sounds are on and have worked fine until today. Now no sound with incoming calls, text, etc., although my alarm did sound this morning. I have tried turning them all off, turning phone off, then turning everything back on hoping it would reset itself. No luck.

I have an S5 which ALL OF A SUDDEN has stopped making a sound when ringing also when texts came through! I have search my self "round the bend", looking for a reason/solution!, to no avail!
I've tried resetting the sound settings, changing the ringtone etc! (when selecting a different ringtone, the phone DOES NOT make any sound then either, whereas, before it would play the tunes as I went through the "ring tone" menu).
The other sounds, ie key pad, internet etc all play sound!
of a sudden my phone stopped making any sound on incoming text. I had a downloaded notification tone from Zedge, but i deleted zedge and switched to a system tone after the problem started. I have taken battery out, still nothing. It makes sound on incoming phone calls and media, just texting.

Since then, most things have been working fine. As far as I had been able to tell, phone calls and text messaging seem to have been working fine. I have texted multiple people today.Â
However, my brother tells me that today, all of his text messages to me are being rejected. It seems odd. He says he has been texting just fine with everyone else, so my concern is that by Resetting All Settings I have caused this issue with some-but-not-all of my contacts.Â

I have a S2 on UK Vodafone contract even though I am currently living in NZ. My phone is a UK model.UK Vodafone have terminated the Passport service as of 1st November which means I now go on to NZ roaming which at �1.65/NZ$3.30 a minute is somewhat steep - I also pay that amount for the incoming call.I now need to block all incoming calls on my phone so as I am not tempted to answer calls at odd times of the day or night (quite hard when we are 13 hours ahead of UK and totally out of sync with them) and pay extortionate amounts of money BUT I need to leave the phone available to make and receive text messages.It is not as easy as to just get a NZ phone contract as this was my life line with friends and family in UK until my provider pulled the passport service so need to disable the phone I have.how to do this so as I can still send/receive text but NOT receive voice calls on my S2?

I did SSH my iphone using DISKAID, and in DISKAID there's this random glitch where sometimes when you're renaming a file it will name the whole folder the new name, and it happened to me with the MobileSMS.app folder, but i changed it back and didn't notice any problem. about an hour later i get a text (sound works), and while typing my reply the SMS app froze (if it's any clue it was during the magnifying glass thingy was on). I went in and out of the app using home button (multitasking enabled) but it wouldn't unfreeze so i rebooted the phone and it came back normal. but since then- no incoming SMS sound!
What's even weirder than that is the fact that even if i'm going to SETTINGS SOUNDSNEW TEXT MESSAGE and tap the different ringtones I don't get any sound!
Oh - another clue:
During my browsing through the phone's file system I did find another "ringtones" folder somewhere and deleted them all except for two - but as far as I know the call ringtones and the SMS ringtones are never in the same folder.. still, could I have deleted the SMS ringtone files? that would make pefect sense but.. is it even possible? or could it be something I accidently changed in the MobileSMS.app folder?
My wife updated her Iphone4 today and now the incoming sound on phonecalls does not work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I send a text it appears in the original conversation but when I get a response it's in an entirely new conversation with only their responses.....so it looks like I am talking to myself and so are they. It appears that the response number is altered and I am unable to respond in that conversation. It appears as area code 1(1562) instead of the proper 1(562). So somehow, somewhere an extra 1 is being added. I checked my contact info, and the number is listed as (562) so the phone itself is doing it (S5) could this be because of the recent software update? How do I fix it so i can have normal texting back?

When u recueve a texy from someone, it puts their usual number, ex. 777-777-7777, and then adds a +11 to it, ex. +11777-777-777 It comes up as an unknown contact, and I cannot reply to that number. I tried restarting my phone, adding a 1 to the contact number, adsing BOTH versions of the number to a contact and setting the default one as the correct number, and even a different texting app. I have an AT&T galaxy s5. No root, just stock.
