IPhone 6 :: With IOS 8.1.1 - No Data Connection When Switch From WiFi To 3G / LTE
Dec 10, 2014
I'm using a iPhone6 with iOS8.1.1. If I walk out of a wifi environment while using the phone, I will lose data connection even though it connects to the local 3G/LTE networks. I can still receive calls/sms but no data. It will continue to stay this way unless I put it in airplane mode and out again to reestablish connections. I have done a Network Reset but problem still persist. Why is it not a seamless transfer between wifi/LTE networks?
Recently the data on my 9700 will not switch from WiFi to cellular. If it's attached to a WiFi network, everything works fine. However when I leave that network and the BB needs to use EDGE/3G it does nothing. It will not even attempt to transmit or receive unless I do a battery pull. If I leave WiFi off, everything works fine. It is now running OS v6.0.0.668 by AT&T. I just updated to this OS in hopes that it would fix the issue, but no luck.
I have a new Torch.Configured everything without problems. even the wifi works , , but only for browsing.data status says: calls through mobile company, BIS: through mobil company, no bes, Mobile company is eplus 3G, wifi net: shows me my home wifi , ssid same and conection type. so it is running.but why doesnt the bis doesnt switch into wifi network? my bold before did that without any problems...
I went through alllllll blogs, talked to the hotline of my mobile company, configured my router and acceesspoints new... nothing worked!
My wife is on a school trip to the US. Meanwhile, I am at home in Canada. I am texting her, but I found it odd she never replies and vice versa. So, she discovered that her iPhone (latest iOS 5 release) keeps trying to send the message as an iMessage. It is not reverting to SMS after a given time, as it should and as I have seen it do before. I have tried it now also and my wife only receives my messages when she has a wifi connection (she does not have data roaming enabled). It seems like my iPhone too continously tries to send the message as an iMessage and it does not switch to SMS after a certain timeout time. The message that the iPhone continously tries to send as an iMessage never fails, however the status does not change until the next time my wife is in wifi coverage and the message is delivered.
I would like to share my View about E6 smartphone!1Really a Great Design and OS Design rom Nokia.Actually whenever i connect to WIFI and GPRS when i connect first time its connecting and i can use ,After i disconnect and if i try to reconnect both WIFI and GPRS not connecting ,Such that when i restart once and connect its connecting so whenever i need to connect WIFI and GPRS for 2nd time i need to restart my mobile.
I am just sitting on my office desk, 2 meters from the router all day. But the phone keeps connecting to mobile data and just takes 5 kb of data for 20 -30 times a day. I fiddled with automatic background data settings, with no success.
I was just curious to know if this is considered a known bug / will be fixed in the gingerbread update. After using wifi and walking out of the wifi zone (eg, out of my house and down the street) I will check my phone to find that the mobile data connection has not re-started itself, and only a reboot will fix this issue. Other issues have been my phone will get stuck only being able to upload (and not download the resulting pages/data) as well as the symbol disappearing completelyafter a little bit of research I found this may be a problem with 2.2.2 froyo and for my sake I hope it is, but I was just curious to make sure it is fixed in future updates.
Will the USB port supply 5V to a connected accessory? I'm thinking of running a MIfi 3.5G mini-router off it in the car.No data connection through USB (that will be wifi) just power.
whenever i go onto a website in a place where i am connected to free wifi, it says i am on a service plan that requires a wifi connection to use the application and need to update my data plan. The only website that works is facebook. What do i do?
I have a Motorola RAZR international GSM version (XT910). It is an unlocked phone without any contract or carrier branding.
I seem to have issues whenever i try using my phone as a WiFi Hotspot. When the Hotspot is turned on the data connection drops. I have tried this while using the device as a hotspot for my iPad and/or my laptop. I'm able to browse normally when i'm directly browsing on the phone. But the moment i begin to use the phone as a WiFi Hotspot i see the data connection immediately getting terminated. Even the data toggle widget i have on my home screen gets toggled off automatically. It comes back up once the device i tether from stops trying to access the hotspot.
This is not a carrier limitation. I tried using the same SIM Card on 2 other unlocked phones (Xperia X10i and Galaxy S2) and they both tether just fine. I also contacted my carrier and had the network and APN settings reset while using the RAZR. That didn't seem to solve the issue either. I have tried every solution that i know of. I have even reset the phone to factory settings a couple of times. But nothing seems to work. There are no Smart Actions setup that conflict with the data connection. I'm totally clueless about what is causing this issue.
It is really frustrating to know that i am able to tether even on a two year old Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i that's running Android 2.3.3 but not on the brand new RAZR for which i had to pay around $700.
More details about the phone and software version i'm running on are-

I have a issue with my Nokia 5800 XM.instead of resetting in to Factory default.I have hard reset the phone. After that my service provider (Dialog GSM Sri Lanka) send me the MMS,and GPRS settings. But I cannot connect. It says connection not available WEB: anable to perform operation and when I tried to connect the wifi it asked the wap key and wont connect but the wifi icon is displayed on the top and I need to restart the phone to get red of it. This was working fine before.
Last night when I turned on my wifi at home, the wifi and phone signal bars appeared but were gray and I had no internet/data connection. I checked the wifi settings which indicated I was connected with good to excellent signal. Toggled the Wifi on and off several times, and turned phone on and off, which did not work. Went into wifi settings and told it to forget settings and reconnected, same result. When I turn off wifi, 3G appears and data connection is restored. Left the phone on in the media dock all night, and this morning when I turned on wifi, all was fine. What does gray signal bar mean?
Will Razr Maxx GPS work without have a WIFI or data connection? For instance, if you were outside the country and you had no phone service or wi-fi service, would google maps still be able to show your location?
I want to switch computers that my iphone 4 is connected with, except everytime i try syncing it to my new macbook pro nothing will sync? What do i do?
I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 I ALWAYS have data roaming turned off as I travel a reasonable amount and don't want the charges. All automatic downloads are also turned off. On a recent holiday to France the phone the phone decided randomly to download my emails at 3pm one Friday afternoon (after we'd been there for almost a week) - this totalled around 3MB and cost me around £10.00 This was the only time the phone did any downloads (it was in my pocket not being used at the time) - so it appears as if randomly for around 10 minutes one wet Friday afternoon the phone decided to ignore the data roaming switch and download my emails (and apparently nothing else). I have read some real horror stories online about this kind of thing but nothing where it just pops on and off.As I travel a reasonable amount I can't afford for this to keep happening.
AT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:
39 04/06/2012 09:36PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0040 04/06/2012 10:35PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0041 04/06/2012 10:41PM phone Data Transfer 369,759 KB 30.00
If all of the data from 6 April was 'rolled up' into the massive 369.8 megabyte transaction at 10:41pm, why are there two small transactions at 9:36pm and 10:35? We installed Onavo to try to get to the bottom of this;; I will post the results at the end of the current billing cycle.

I've recently bought a Nokia 5800 xm and have been able to connect it to my home internet using the wlan wifi.
I can only use the wifi if i go to settings>connectivity>wlan. If i go straight to internet, it tries to connect to t-mobile internet. This also happens when trying to use applications such as bbc iplayer and the ovi store.
Is there a way of setting the wifi connection as the default connection? If not, is there a way of setting up my applications so they connect using wifi?
I set up my Yahoo mail account on the native mail app on my iPhone 5 using my home wi-fi network. Everything works well. But when i switch wi-fi networks, it can't retrieve my emails. This happened when I'm on my office's network. I do not use cellular data (3G nor LTE). I'm strictly a wi-fi person, either at home, in the office or some coffee shop, restaurant or mall.Â
I forgot the error message, it said "can't connect to server".
This has been happening since 5.0.1 and each update they put out. I've tried all the reccomended fixes on the forums, and other places online, disableing the location services doens't help, airplane mode doesn't even help, I have to reboot the phone each time it happens. No web data, no email, no iMessages... what gives? never had issues on a jailbroken 3gs, but tried to get the new "improved" version and keep it legit.
My iPhone 6 is about three weeks old and it keeps losing its data signal. I'm on AT&T and have good coverage throughout my area (never an issue with my 4s). The result is that when I'm off of wifi I periodically can't use Siri/internet/visual voicemail. It comes back if I completely restart my phone. This started happening a few days ago sporadically but I'm losing the data connection multiple times a day now. What's going on?
