The camera does not work on my sons iPhone 5s, operating system is iOS 7. He has never updated it. No picture on show up on screen, buttons do not function. Phone gets hot then shuts down on occasion as a result.

I take a picture and go to the edit menu and all of the effects show up on the bottom of the picture but if I push ufocus or seasons or any of the others I get a message that says duo effects not available for this picture. After the manually turning On the phone again, it will work again including the camera icon or button. My computer won't detect it, I have tried SSH'ing so I can back up my stuff that way, because I haven't backed up since last October, which is not a good thing at all. I have heard of iRecovery but I'm not sure if it will put my phone in restore mode or not, I DO NOT want to restore my phone.
