IPhone :: Why Do I Lose Signal Since Updating To IOS 5.1
Mar 25, 2012Since I updated my iOS from 5.0.1 to 5.1, my iPhone:
1) Takes a lot more time finding the network when I turn it on.
2) Frequently loses reception and searches for network for 10-30 seconds before going back on the network full strength. The weird thing is that when this happens, I'm usually at the same place, so it does not make sense that I go from five bars of signal to nothing.
3) Also, when I lose signal, there is a prompt telling me that I lost signal. This prompt is annoying, is there a way to make it not appear?

May 24, 2012after updating to ios 5.1.1 i constantly lose the signal on my phone. as well as not being able to browse on the 3g signal for more than ten minutes before it locks up and has to be rebooted..... anyone else finding issues with signal and 3G connectivity??

Dec 8, 2014I'm using iPhone 5s (32GB) on a 4G network in Singapore.
Ever since I upgraded my firmware to iOS 8 and later, among other frustrations like battery drain, I'm also facing a significant drop/fluctuation in the network signal strength, home WiFi signal, and the Bluetooth range.Â
I'm unable to stream videos like I used to on Cellular Data. I used to get (when the phone ran on iOS 7.1.2) all 5 bars most of the time even inside the lift/elevator, but now it switches to un-browsable (don't know why) 3G mode even at the heart of the city.Â
I really wish I can go back to iOS 7.1.2Â

Mar 15, 2010I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.
Anybody else having this problem?

Jul 21, 2010Anyone else experience this? I did th sotware upgrade and a few hours later this happened. I tried manually connecting to the network and it wont. T-mobile asked me to send the phone back but there is a major scratch on the screen so they told me my return warranty was void now.So far I have a $400 paper weight. Anyone fix this issue?

I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.

May 5, 2012Got a new 4s a couple of weeks ago. After a couple of days all my purchased music dissappeared. Had to re-set and install everything from scratch. Last week all my pictures dissappeared. loaded them back up. Yesterday contacts started dissappearing. Today my email accounts have all gone apart from icloud and I can't get them set up again. Have I just got a lemon or has my pc picked up a cold?

Mar 19, 2012Just got a new iphone 4s. I haven't had a chance to upload my entire address book, but some of the contacts I have entered have disappeared. This is the second time this has happened and I haven't even had the phone a week yet. The first time, I thought that I just didn't save the info correctly... but only some of the contacts are missing, not all of them. I'd like to know what the issue is before I enter all of my contacts. Again, I haven't even plugged the phone into the computer yet, so it cant be a syncing issue.

I also noticed that the battery time has gotten worse and after the update the camera won't work at all when i press the icon in locked screen, the screen "jumps" a little bit but it won't start it.

May 25, 2012I noticed yesterday and today that contacts are disappearing one by one from my iPhone 4s. What is going on? I've read some of these other threads but turning off iCloud and merging and all that did not work. Jun 5, 2014I have the Google Glass app on my iPhone 4s. I can confirm this by swiping down the center of the home page, search for the app which DOES show up and I am able to launch it. But I don't want to launch it. I want to DELETE it and restore it because it has become corrupted. If I go to the App Store, it indicates the Google Glass app is installed, and offers to open it. I want to DELETE it. However, the icon for the app is now missing. I have *very carefully* looked at every icon on my iPhone. The Google Glass icon is nowhere to be found. I have repeated this search myself at least four times, and I even asked a friend to review the icons, who also confirmed that the Google Glass icon was not present. Two questions: how do I delete an app whose icon does not appear on the phone even though it clearly *is* on the phone because it can be launched? Alternatively, how do I make the disappearing or invisible app's icon reappear so that I may delete and restore the app?

Jul 19, 2010My iphone 3gs is jailbroken, and everytime I install the Facebook and Fandango apps on my phone, the icons become present on the last page, shows it downloading, but the second it is done, the icon disappears! If I plug the phone in iTunes and go to the Apps tab, I look at each page and both icons appear there, but not on the phone itself. Under settings, it says the Facebook app is installed, but I can't get the icon to come up. None of the other apps do this. Tried downloading from both iTunes and via the phone. Why is this?

Apr 12, 2012I recently added a new album to my 'iPhone' playlist in iTunes which I sync with my iPhone.
However, when I went to my phone, and searched under artist, the album was not there! The two other albums I have by that artist are there but not the new one.
What's weirder is that it DOES appear on my iPhone if I search for it under the album tab. But it does not come up when looking under the artist tab (just the other two albums that I have by that artist).

Jul 16, 2010I've been running into problems where some (not all) apps disappear from my iPhone after syncing. Yesterday, I downloaded 3 apps...the Bloomberg app, the new Star Wars game, and a local tv station's app. After syncing, the Bloomberg and tv station app were still there, but the Star Wars game was gone, and I had to redownload, which caused me to lose my progress (only one level, so not a huge deal).
Also, I've downloaded the speedtest.net app repeatedly, and it's disappeared every time I sync.Anyone have an answer as to why some apps disappear and some apps don't...and how to make it stop happening?

Mar 21, 2012My iPhone 4 has lost Safari and camera. They just dropped off yesterday while I was going about the day using the phone as I normally do-not syncing, not adding or deleting apps, it was fully charged, etc. I did a restore from my MBP (all software up to date; up to date IOS). Everything looked good after the restore/sync. But, after I disconnected the iPhone those two apps disappeared again. This is weird. Syncing my wife's iPhone to the MBP works just fine.
