I recently downloaded and installed the new iOS 5.1 onto my iPhone 3GS. However, I can't actually gain access to my phone at all because the phone won't let me activate during the initial set up. My phone also keeps telling me that I have no service in the upper left hand corner when I always seemed to on the previous iOS I had (note: I have not played around with the sim at all).

I am trying to reconcile my email. I receive this message, "activation failed, an error was encountered when sending the activation transmission"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was one of the first couple of dozen in the store on the west coast. I had the Apple Store rep activate the phone for me. He did what he had to do and said it would just be a matter of time. I left.
I came home. It's been two hours and still showing "No Service." 1-800-AppleCare is either busy or disconnects me after a dozen rings.
I called AT&T, and the rep said they were briefed that due to so many activations (thanks a whole helluva lot Europe and the east coast ), activations were delayed with no time estimates given. The AT&T rep did offer to take down my land line number so someone would call me later in the day to confirm or deny that the activation has taken place.
Anyone else with activation delay issues?
it happened on my N8 dark grey before two days, two times. I did hard reset (volume down, camera, menu, power). For now, everything is ok, but could it happened again.
View 4 Replies View Relatedive had the Nokia n8 for a year and ive hated every single day of that year...... the nokia n8 is THE most problametic phone ive ever had.... and will be my last ever nokia phone. no matter what i do i get the nokia startup failed contact retailer. yes ive restarted my phone at least 100 times ...... yes i literally restarted my phone 100 times no exagaration.... my phone will start up like usual ..... then after a while it will give me the nokia n8 startup failed contact retailer is there any way to get this fixed without having to reset the whole phone to factory settings??.... ive been able to bypass the startup failed contact retailer by quickly quickly clicking on the small button on the left that then gives me the menu with all my applications but realisticly i shouldn't have to go through all the work to get my phone up...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI left my phone to charge one night before going to bed (pulled out the charger when it finished). The next morning the phone had shut down by itself and when I tried turning it on I got white lines accross the screen. That happened for a few more times (sometimes blue or green or red lines), and after I removed and put the battery back in the following has been happening since then : Starting the phoneWhite screen with Nokia logo shows upMessage "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". Phone hangs. If I press the shut down button, lines appear and fade out before phone shuts down.
I tried the hard reset method, but either I am doing it wrong, or it just doesn't apply here. I tried connecting it to my PC, but it is not recognised (probably because a message to select PC Suite doesn't show up). The phone is a few months outside warranty, so it is not financially wise (or viable) to send it for repairs. I am an advanced user and I'm willing to try any flashing utilities guides to restore it to working condition. Could it be the battery needing a switch? I tried removing the memory card & SIM, but the problem persists.
I have not been able to use Ovi Sync on my E6. Each time I try I simply get the following message: Service activation failed. Try again later.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd really be grateful to you if could help me out with this. I have got a locked Nokia N91. I went to a local mobile repair shop which claims to unlock branded phone. While it was being unlocked, the phone got some error for some unknown reason and now whenever I start my phone, all it says is ' phone start-up failed, contact the retailer' the repairer says the phone's IMEI is damaged which I have confirmed from various repair shops and would need some RPL file (which I haven't got any idea about) and since Nokia servers are down its not possible right now, he tells me to wait for a bit before the servers are up on the run again. I have no idea if its even true. All I want to know is Can My Phone really be Repaired? And if Yes whats the Criteria for doing so? And if i take my phone to Nokia repair shop. I am afraid they would not fix it since they haven't got a license to unlock branded phones.

My grandson changed the start up screen on my iPhone 4S (ios 7.1.1) and doesn't remember how he changed it. I would like to change it back to what I had. How to change the start up (or boot - not sure what it's called) screen?
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy iPhone 4 is now stuck on starting itself up, the screen lights up, apple logo appears, it vibrates and then repeats that all over again. Prior to this my phone had a message on it saying it could not make or receive calls, which is why i turned it off in the first place as most problems seem to be resolved by that. Earlier today, before all this my phone was working absolutely fine and no problems at all - there seems to be no explanation to this !! I have tried holding down the home and lock button as well but this does nothing.

I am trying to find a way to change the silver apple at startup to the retro style "rainbow" apple. Im not really interested in using a program for it but if someone could give me the file's location and maybe an image of the retro styled apple that I can replace it with then that would be great.

Is there any sequence of keys, you know, like "hold home-key for 5 secs"... that will place the phone in airplane mode as is being started?

I have the Nike+ GPS app, and it has worked fine for almost a year, but a few weeks ago it wouldn't let me log in to sync my runs anymore, and today it stopped working entirely, quitting on startup every time... what I can do to fix an app that quits on startup all the time?
I've tried deleting it, and installing it again, but that just made me loose my saved runs, so I restored my phone from a backup, and now the app is there and should contain my data, but it quits on startup!
