I just got my new Ray yesterday. Automatically with the pc companion it upgraded to ICS. I tried today to connect it to my wifi. I go to Settings > wireless and networks > Wifi. I turn it on, in the next screen I click on Scan - and nothing. It wont scan and so wont connect to any wifi network.
I have a problem with the WiFi in my mobile it is Android 4.0.4. When I try to connect to a WPA2 secured WiFi the mobile try to connect about 5 seconds. Then it disconnect and scan and it keeps trying to connect and disconnect and scan.
I have a Z2, but I cannot connect to wifi. I have tried restarts, I have tried factory reset, I have run a diagnostic but the wifi simply wont switch on and therefore I cannot get the phone to scan for networks. It worked briefly after I updates to latest firmware but that only lasted 5 hours.
After the update, all of a sudden I get the problem that as soon as I turn on wifi I get the message "unable to scan for networks" and then it switches wifi off.
When I'm not at home, I have my wifi turned off, yet I still get the "network connection available" notification. I turn wifi off, and a minute later, it's back. I checked my settings, and it shouldn't be doing this.
I hgave reset network, reset phone, hard soft shut down, plugged it into the router-time capsule, and nothing. It just keeps on spinning around and around. I do not have a VPN network, but I tried that, and still nothing. My office is where I have wifi-plus their are 10 other wifi's in the building it used to pick up, now nothing. Even at home nothing. Just spinning and spinning. It is 2 weeks old. I bought it in Canada, and am now in Africa. I purchased it factory unlocked, and it is running the 5.1.1 software. I don't want to take my phone to the apple resellers, as I bought it at an actual Apple store, and I don't trust the guy here in Tanzania. Is their anything that I have missed that I could possibly do? If you say fixed or static IP, I have no idea how to do that so if you could explain where that said IP is so I could utilize it, and how do I input it to my phone. I'm thinking that is my last hope. Other than that the chip or antenna are fried somehow-even though it is brand new, and has had a case on it the whole time.
my iphone 4s can not scan any wifi network, i tried everything but still can not scan any wifi connection even though our wifi is working properly in our mac book and ipad.
I have "Show WLAN availability" set to on. The question is - does it scan for WLAN when the display is on or all the time, even when the phone is in standby and the display is off?
I've recently got my x10 and have tryong to find a suitable app to scan in bsuiness cards via the camera and import them into my contacts. Alas with very little success. Tried Google Goggles but it didn't fair very well.
i had my x10mini since last christmas and about 2 months ago i had problems with my wifi whenever i go to turn it on it says `unable to scan for networks` and yes i have updated it.im starting to think to swap it for a blackberry
So, unfortunate circumstances for a first post here. I'm afraid my WiFi chip is dead and hoping someone can help me realize it's not.I have a Curve 9300, purchased back in April with the fabulous OS 5 on it. My husband and I bought matching phones.
Historically, I've had some WiFi issues here at my house, which could be traced back to a crappy D-Link router. Devices were being "kicked off" the network when more than two were trying to use it (xBox, phone, laptop, etc) It always seemed like my phone had the most trouble staying connected here, but it would always acknowledge that the network was there (it would show up in the list of networks most of the time), and if I went to OTHER houses or public WiFi Hot Spots, I could connect without a problem. About a week ago I upgraded to OS6 (if I had paid better attention to my software update checkboxes, I wouldn't have done it, man I hate OS6) and ever since then, my Curve won't even acknowledge the EXISTENCE of my WiFi network, even after I re-entered all the network information manually. Thinking it was our (straight-from-hell) router, I bought a new Linksys model and set it up... same problem! Since then I have tried changing every setting, manually entering network data repeatedly, even connecting with the WiFi Protected Setup button, and it's just not working. My husband's Curve, meanwhile, is connecting just fine.
My sony experia mini will not connect to wireless networks. It says it is unable to scan and then wireless turns off automatically. A lot of the time it is unable to connect to 3G either.
I have recently upgraded my iPhone4S from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1. Since then I observerd my battery is draining rapidly when internet connection is active either WiFi/3G. Even the phone is kept idle without using anything, under settings->usage its showing as used (Usage Time & standby time both are increasing) When internet connection (WiFi/3G) is kept off, battery backup is good and settings->usage is showing only the actual iPhone usage only. But with internet battery drains very rapidly almost 20% for an hour or so.
I am using blackberry curve 8520.. I have been using this for almost a year already. I noticed, there are few things missing and some problems occurred when I upgraded to version 5. Eg. Memopad, No column in option for alarm tones, my BB getting slower during browsing, everytime I try to connect to wi-fi, it will be intermittent or not connected. For unable to connect to wifi, I suspected it is browser issue but then I set to default setting it is still the same.
I upgraded my OS version from GB to ICS 4.0.3 on Xperia Neo V in the month of April 2012.Had issues with Wi-fi, battery, icon size and etc, so immediately went to Service centre and got my phone OS version downgraded to its original version GB 2.3.4. Felt very much comfortable with GB.Would like to know if there are any improvements done to ICS latest version, If yes, would like to try ICS version again.
After I upgraded to 2.1, my wisepilot is expired (it might be a coincidence). However, as someone stated before, default apps are there to stay. So I have an app that's hogging up my phone memory which I don't use? I cannot use it unless I have a valid voucher, or even if I don't use it, there's no way for me to remove it...This is just one out of so many "default apps" that it comes with.
I have an xperia x10 on at&t (still only with android 1.6) and it has been working fine until a couple of days ago. My wi-fi has been working fine (except for the occasional "unable to start wifi") until one day it just stopped working. I was connected to my home wifi network when all of a sudden it just disconnected. I proceeded to go into my settings to turn it back on, however, when I checked the box, it turned on for about 5 seconds then turned off and said "unable to scan for networks." I have tried everything I can to get it back to working. I have tried:
-Taking out the battery, sim, and memory card for a few minutes. replacing them all and restarting the phone. -doing the above but while everything is out holding the back key for 30 seconds, then putting everything back in and holding the power button for 10 seconds. -Plugging the phone into my computer
The only thing I haven't done is the factory reset. I do NOT want to do this because I have heard that it only sometimes works and if it doesn't work, then I cant't get any of my apps or anything back on my phone and it will be completely useless to me. I do not want to lose all the data on my phone because I have no internet currently, and therefore can not backup anything.
I upgraded to 2.1 on Saturday, everything went ok but I've not received any texts since Monday. I don't think this is related to the upgrade as I was receiving texts for 2 days after upgrading. I normally use Handcent as my sms manager, but I've uninstalled it and gone back to using the pre-installed Messaging software, but that has not resolved the problem. I've also deleted messages so its not a case of Inbox being too full.
Upgraded software to 5.1.1 and since then the ring volume turns itself fully down and won't let me adjust. All other volumes are working fine. Will work for a little while after turning off and on again.
I just upgraded my android to v2.1. Now my phone is working really slow. Touch is very slow, camera is slow, everything is slow. Even I uninstalled all extra apps. I made a mistake that I upgraded my handset.
Just upgraded the software n my phone to the new 3.10 XXXXXXX version & the restore & backup app is no longer there & neither is anything else recognized on my SD card! I need a little advice on getting it all back!
I got the official 2.3.4 upgrade from the PC companion and am very happy with it. Part of the changes seems to be that I get new message notifications in the middle of my lock screen (meaning I press the power button and my screen goes from blank to the lock screen, and in the middle of that is a notification that says I have "New messages:1" with a envelope icon beside it. I've checked sms, email, whatsapp, skype, handcent, etc etc and I cant find any messages that are new. The notification bar is empty. I've also tried sending myself a message to see if it will clear, but it wont. I'd previously cancelled voice mail on the carrier side too.
planning to buy this phone. I understand that it has Android OS, v1.6 (Donut),upgradable to v2.1... if you have 2.1 you can only install games/applications to the phone memory. if you have upgraded to os 2.3 will you be able to install the games to the mem card?
