Oct 14, 2010Connected it to the PC companion and was informed about the update. Switched off the phone and turned it back on. Connected the usb port while holding the back button and selected connect the phone but nothing happened. I've tried this about 6 times now and nothing.Should the phone be asking me what i want to do each time? I thought there was an option to set the phone to automatically mount when connecting the usb cable but it seems to be gone in 2.1. Could anything be blocking it? My phone is UK unbranded and on firmware version 2.1-update 1.

Nov 10, 2012A few weeks ago I got the notification that an update was available for my phone. My friend got the same update via his HTC shortly after, he was able to update directly from his phone without any problem. I was informed I had to connect to a PC to update mine, frustrating but I do understand the definate benefit. But there are only benefits if the software related is robust and well tested, which it isn't.I connected my phone, updated PC companion, connected the phone via pc companion. Attempted to use the support zone which had just been updated also. I got the error message saying " Pc Companion need to connect to online server". I have done suggest it's only a temporary problem but I've tried on over 10 different occasions on two different PC's.I then tried using the SUS as I needed to use that to update to ICS in the first place, but it wants to dowload a 127mb file, way to big for the patch which is meant to be 0.1mb.

Apr 14, 2012I received an update notification today on my Xperia mini. For whatever reason Sony only provide this update via a PC. Tried to carry out the update on 2 computers without success. On one computer PC companion returns an eror message at the 'preparing computer' stage - no help on how to rectify the problem. On my laptop, PC companion switches off my phone and then freezes the computer. I di on one attempt get to the 'update' stage where I was presented with some odd manipulations of disconnecting and re-connecting the phone. I followed the instructions but then update process didn't continue.Can anyone cast any light on this or better still can Sony provide the update OTA?

Oct 23, 2010My x10 mini pro is was working just fine until 3 days ago. But all of a sudden, it wasn't letting me send sms anymore. I still am able to receive sms though. Its just the problem with sending sms.Whenever i try to send an sms, it shows 'sending' for like 4 seconds and then shows 'could not send'.Been having this issue since 3 days and it still persists.Let me tell you what all i have done. (Except for restarting the phone a million times)
1. Network tower issue: To check if the issue was with the tower, i moved a good 30 miles away to another tower and it still had the issue. Plus, my other friends living just next door are able to send and receive sms through the same network operator.
2. Phone software issue: To check if it was an issue with the phone, i flashed my phone with the pc companion and installed a fresh copy of android 2.1. But the problem persists.
3. Sim: I removed and re-inserted the sim card a few times just to make sure the contact was proper with the chip. And it was properly connected.Now, the only thing thats left in my mind is if my operator changed the message centre number of the network.But then, there's no way of changing or editing the message centre number in android 2.1.It used to be in Home screen > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > SMS centre in 1.6.But unfortunately, it aint there anymore in 2.1.

Jan 8, 2011I bought the x10 mini pro just before christmas and am having trouble trying to upgrade to android 2,1. I have checked the firmware version on the phone and it says version 1.6. I have downloaded the latest version of pc companion and update service and when i connect to update it says i am running the latest software. I am unable to send files via bluetooth so must definatley still be running 1.6. can anyone help me and advise me how i can upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1?

Jan 16, 2012Purchased the Xperia Mini Pro today, eager to get to grips but as soon as i'd done the basic settings i'm told there is a new software update. After recently upgrading from the X10 Mini Pro, i am well aware on how to update the software using PC Companion.However, this update is proving difficult. Once i follow the steps provided and get to the 'Phone Software Update' window, with the four steps (Start, Prepare, Update, Finish) I'm stranded at step 2. The whole 'unplug the USB from the phone and computer' steps are proving useless, nothing is happening. I've tried seven times with intervals, and many reboots of my phone, none of which have proved successful. Anyone able to tell me what i may be doing wrong or is there a current problem installing the software for everyone?

Jan 30, 2011After multiple tries of trying to update Android for my Xperia X10 mini pro phone via the PC Companion as well as the downloaded Update Service (after reading similar threads) i am still at a loss! I am in Mumbai using an Airtel SIM.
In the case of the PC Companion, it goes smoothly until the Prepare step (where no Previous & Next buttons appear). After "preparing" the phone nothing happens. I tried pressing Enter & then it goes onto the Update panel. But here the Download status bar is just mpty & doesnt download anything.
With the Update Service, it runs fine till the Connect step. After following the instructions once again nothing happens. Here there is only a Previous button & no Next button. Pressing Enter takes you to the Previous panel.
In both cases I have seen no message appear on the phone at all & no sign of anything being recognized on either of the softwares.

Now I'm trying to update the operating system(Android) using the receipt given on the Sony Ericssons homepage using Sony Ericsson PC Companion 2.0.PC OS: Windows XP SP3 (32-bit).Everything works well until I come to the point where I'm supposed to disconnect the USB-cable, turn the mobile phone off, restart the mobile phone, reconnect the USB-cable and holding the Back-button when doing this.I get a new page telling me to pull the top menu down and activate the USB connection (or something like that). When I have done this the page switches back to the former page where I'm again told to disconnect theUSB-cable, turn the mobile phone off etc.I have also tried to use the Update Service, but I'm not coming any further than to the first page.
