I recently had a repair done to my Z3 by sony (main board replaced). Before sending off i backed up phone on the 10th feb. Received my Repaired phone today and tried to restore using sony bridge for mac, I select the correct backup dated the 10th and it runs though the backing up process fine no errors, i restart the phone and nothing.........phone is exactly the same as before i restored.

OK, did something really stupid i.e. changed my security pattern late at night and now cannot unlock my xperia z3 D6653. It's in airport mode and I've tried everything else.
So it is a hard reset I'm after. As per instructions I've downloaded Sony Bridge for Mac, installed and had it running, came stuck at stage where you "hold volume down and connect phone to mac". What shows is an icon that informs me the battery level of my phone (I checked it's over 80%) and goes no further.
I have transferred successfully all my content from iPhone 5 to my Xperia z3.
I used Sony Bridge for Mac doing that. It said, that in the end it would be a "pop up" on my phone giving me further instructions how to open the apps, messages on the phone - but It never came one.I can see that the content is over, because it now have 9GB less memory than before, but how I can come in contact with the content.
I'm using a Xperia mini, a Mac OS X (10.6.8.) and Sony bridge for mac (3.1). With the former version of Sony bridge I could easily synchronize my music with iTunes (11.0.1). Now I get a failure notice after choosing some songs and clicking the "synchronize"-Button saying: "Synchronization with x failures completed." I reinstalled Sony bridge for Mac, but it didn't solve the problem.

So far all i've been able to do is backup my pictures, that's it. Every time i try and backup the android system files it fails.Is it even possible to backup and restore these things? Or am i wasting my time. iPhone was never this difficult!!!

The phone was on Android 4.4.2 when I used the Backup & Restore application to backup my System apps data, and some of my Downloaded apps with data. I had to upgrade to 4.4.4. I think it was a mistake that I didn't make a backup on 4.4.4 as well. Now I've upgraded to 5.0, and all of my apps & settings were kept, but I wanted to start clean, so I did a factory reset.
Now when I'm trying to use the Backup & Restore app again to Restore the backup file I made on 4.4.2, a window pops up saying "Cannot restore, Selected backup records cannot be used due to incompatible software versions. Please select a more recent backup file."
I recently sent in my Xperia Z2 because of a mechanical problem. So like I was told, I saved my data, so I wouldn't lose any data. But now I tried to restore my saved data but it won't work somehow because it tells me, that I have the wrong device connected, although I do have the right device connected.

Before the handset was given back, I backed up my phone with all contact, calendar entries etc via the sony ericsson PC suite, now I want to restore this backup to the X10, the PC Suite doesn't recognise the phone. I have to now use the PC companion which doesn't help me much in restoring this backup.

I have "Sony Ericsson Bridge for Mac"Version 1.0.1(3015). The updater says it is the current version. I updated my SE Xperia Pro to Build # 4.0.2.A.0.58
Now "Bridge for Mac" does not recognise any data on the SD-Card anymore. Its tells me that I have +-16GB of data on the SD-Card which is about right, but it say it is of type "other", not "music" or "pictures" and it does not recognise any playlists I have uploaded before the update of the phone software.
My old Xperia TX is encrypted. So "Xperia Transfer Mobile" app and "PC Companion" are not working here.
Internal "Backup & restore" app exist on both phones - my new Z5 and TX and serves the same way - it can back up all text messages (and other data which I don't need to transfer) and it does work with encrypted phone! First it asks for password for decrypting and then works fine. I'm saving my backup to SD card. I'm inserting SD card to Z5 and trying to restore with same data but... BnR app can't see saved data on SD card!
I made some researches on content of backups and I see they using different formats for backups. Different files structure, different files contents and different metadata format.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
