contacts went crazy. I was going through my contacts, one by one, and erasing all the duplicate phone numbers. Now after performing a back up, the phone book shows multiple entries for each contact again. Is there a fix for that?

The problem is that it is adding on to my internal memory, why is this happening when I have sync my contacts with gmail. I do not have any contact on my phone. If I can find a solution for this, it will save 7.5mb of my space, where in I can accommodate something useful.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI already made a backup of my contacts within the phone, but I want to export the complete list to my PC.- I used the "send all contacts" option, and could send the "sendAll.vcf" file to my mail, but when I tried opening it with Outlook, I could only see one contact which is the first on the list.I also tried syncronizing the contacts with my Gmail account but I cant find them there.Finally I copied the backup folder from the phone to my PC, but I dont know if I can restore it from there.

Can I open this file in another way to get all my contacts? Is it possible to import all my contacts to Pc Companion? When I syncronize the phone with this program I only get the bookmarks exported from the phone to the program. No contact is exported. I have already lost my contacts once and will be sure that I have saved them correctly.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi was wondering if anyone could help me to find my contacts! i used the backup function on my phone then reset the phone thinking i could restore my contacts! after resetting i went to restore and the percentage went up and said it had finished but still no contacts! call log restored though! i then tried to import the ones i had saved on my sim again it finishes loading but when i go into phonebook it comes up with the same screen saying, import sim contacts, sync and google sync. however when a sim contact txt me their name appeared! yet i cant get to them in my phonebook! also now my phone wont acsess the internet, i have enables data trafficing but it wont open the browser.what is going on! is there a simple solution i have missed?
View 9 Replies View RelatedToday I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer.Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup.After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process.I left it restoring for a while. When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap.But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & Facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere.

However my contacts seem to have been wiped out and it doesn't give me the option to import contacts stored on my Google account. All in all the 5.1.1 has been the upgrade fro **bleep**.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo after searching the forums and Google and iTunes and just about everywhere I can think of, I still can't seem to find the app I need.I just bought my iPhone 3G-S yesterday, after using android for almost a year, and the ONLY one app/function i can't seem to find is for my SMS to be backed up automatically to an e-mail account.
On android there's an app called SMSBackup, in which all you need to do is enter your google username and password, and then it backs up all your SMS automatically to your Gmail address as soon as you receive them. They appear under a label and are archived automatically, and when you go into that label you see them as threaded conversations. I can post screenshots if anyone would like me to.
I'm surprised that with the number of apps for the iPhone there isn't a single app that does this? At least from what I can see.
Does anybody know if there is actually an app that I've overlooked and that does what I'm looking for? Or if there's an app that is in development to do this? The android one is open source so I'm sure it can be done on the iPhone, no? And before I get flamed for this, I do know they are completely different operating systems and are developed differently.
Is it because of the one-app-running-at-a-time thing? Because surely that shouldn't stop it with the new app (i forgot it's name) that allows you to run multiple apps in the background
Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
I have two emails on my phone that I set up through the Blackberry website. My calendar has always defaulted to the first email. If I remove that email I fear my calendar will be empty except for the fact that it is saved on GMAIL. if I do remove the the first email and loose the calendar will the calendar be replaced on my next Sync with GMAIL?

I just had my iPhone 5s replaced and restored from backup.
a) most of my apps were missing (meh, not a huge deal to purge)
but more importantly,
b) I can't download certain apps now. For instance, I try to restore Gmail from the cloud and I keep getting a "This item isn't available", which I find pretty unlikely for the GMail app.Â
Is this something with my account? Are others seeing this as well?

I have google sync on my phone, but that only messed up my contacts by dumping a bunch of duplicates into my BB contacts and it doesnt seem to reverse sync. I have since deleted my gmail contacts so I dont suffer this fate again, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to reverse sync from BB to gmail.

Currently using a Samsung S5. A new Gmail account was set up for this phone in order to sync the contacts to this new Gmail account. Previously it was synced to another Gmail account. Even though the phone said all has been synced (to the new Gmail), nothing appeared when I login to the new Gmail account contacts.

Prior to having an android phone, I was using some other "not so smart" phone, and all of my contacts were handled through Backup Assistant. Now I have my android phone (DX2) and want to move all of my contacts to my Gmail account instead of Backup Assisitant. I am planning on leaving Verizon and going with another android phone, on Sprint. If I don't want to re-enter approximately 500 contacts (498) manually, I need to sync all of my contacts to gmail. There had been an app for that, but Verizon took it out of the market.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
