Nov 24, 2011Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!

Sep 7, 2015Currently using a Samsung S5. A new Gmail account was set up for this phone in order to sync the contacts to this new Gmail account. Previously it was synced to another Gmail account. Even though the phone said all has been synced (to the new Gmail), nothing appeared when I login to the new Gmail account contacts.

I tried doing a factor reset, setting up as a new device, linked the gmail account, but it still decided to create 2000+ contacts.

Jun 7, 2010Strange issue with my BlackBerry contacts. Nearly all of my phone numbers disappeared and I panicked immediately. I came to realize that this happened when I added a new Gmail account to my Blackberry. Not sure if the new Gmail Sync had anything to do with it, but I found that all of my BlackBerry contacts are NOW in Contacts when I log into Gmail on the web. And the contacts that I do have in my phone happen to be all email addresses (mostly no numbers, but some) that were previously all saved in my web Gmail. It's like they just switched places.

- I already deleted updates for Gmail and reilstalled through Google Play store. Didn't work.

- In settings > accounts > Google > Synchronize, gmail and calender are set to automatic.

Jun 24, 2014I just bought an iPhone 5c and the dealer manually transferred all of my (gmail) contacts from my Samsung Galaxy. Now the contacts on my iPhone are no longer synced with my gmail account. If I make changes to a contact on my iPhone, that change does not show up on my laptop when I am logged into my gmail account.Â
Can I fix this by turning "on" the "Contacts" button under Settings > mail, contacts, calendars > Gmail > contacts > on?Â
When I attempt this it asks me what I want to do with the existing contacts on my phone. What do I want to do here? If I say leave the contacts on my phone will the contacts merge or will I end up with duplicates?

Jun 8, 2015I just did a factory reset to try to fix my battery problems, and now my contacts contain all of the "other contacts" from Gmail, which I don't want. In my Contacts -> Settings -> Contacts to display, I chose my gmail account only. All of the "other contacts" are still showing. I think this is also affecting my contact sync with my car, as my most important contact didn't get synced to the car (maybe there's a limit). Either way, I have about 330 real contacts, and ~650 "other contacts".

When I export my contacts list, it creates a VCF file containing (supposed to be) all my contacts but it only has 1 contact (the first in the list). I tried viewing this file using PC Companion and it was confirmed that it only contains 1 contact.
