View 5 RepliesOk so its really close now to being able to see ICS on our phones, excited. But for those of us not using Windows or Mac, how can we update?Would it be possible to provide an update Rom to place on our SD cards, so enable us to update that way, as we can do with other phones?

View 2 Replies View Relatedis there any chance that SC has a program that runs on linux? It s insane, that the only way possible to update a linux kernel phone is through windows! do not propose the use of wine, or any virtual box. I just need to get it updated, with a really simple task, just like in windows... click click click updated!I think linux users should be able to update their phones, without setting up a vm or even using an emulator!

When I connect my N8 to my Ubuntu machine, I can transfer the pictures using ShotWell quite easily with USB. However, I would like to transfer my movies also, which the mentioned program doesn't support. The normal videoprograms do not seem to recognize the phone.how to proceed?I would prefer to avoid Bluetooth, since the movies are large and a USB-cable is simply more practical for many purposes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedN900 is a Linux phone right ? why we still have to stick with a Windows suite then !? Linux boots up on my netbook in 30s where Win7 took 2min. Linux recognizes the phone mass storage and modem out of the box where Win7 need to install drivers, without the modem driver I can't access the internet to ask question about this phone, but the phone does not come with any s/w and driver disc so I must download from internet beforehand, thanks God my netbook has Linux installed so that I can write a note complain about this! This is no Joke Nokia, N900 is the worst supported flagship phone I ever had, please at least give us a working s/w suite with your next new phone!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a (Linux) Fedora 14 machine from which(USB) it isn't possible to transfer files to my Xoom (miniUSB). Another thing, it looks like Xoom-owners outside the US are treated differently, e.g. no Google ebooks are available, the Skype App is without videocall et cetera. Why? (I live in Sweden and the price I paid for my Xoom was ~$1,000).

View 6 Replies View RelatedAs the title suggests, of those who have tried out Linux Deploy (for those of you who don't know what this, Its an app that automates setting up of chroot Linux and provides a few different "graphics subsystems" vnc, xserver and framebuffer) have you managed to get framebuffer working.Seems like its largely trial and error as to getting the correct settings, I was unable to get this working using CAF Cyanogenmod. Maybe its dependent on kernel configuration, i was unable to find any reports of this working on the nexus 5.

View 5 Replies View RelatedUntil I can create and populate a playlist via a native Android app, I wanted to see how feesible it is to create a playlist manally in Linux and put it on the MA.Its amazingly easy.ere is what I did:1 - I mounted the motoactv and browsed to the <mountpoint>/mobile/mml folder2. I created a new subdirectory - (I used "local" but I dont thing the name matters"3. Using a playlist created in the Itunes subdirectory as a template, I created a playlist (which is just plain ascii text) and put the list in my "local" subdirectory. The name of the playlist file is what will be used as a playlist name. I called mine - "libtest.pls". All I did is change the path to my Music folder, change tne NumberOfEntries entry, and change the directory slashes to match the windows style.he contents of my "libtest.pls" playlist look like this - Playlist]File1=mediaMOTOACTVMusicBluesAynsley ListerTower Sessions1 Soundman.mp3File2=mediaMOTOACTVMusicBluesDelta MoonHell Bound Train9 - Ghost in My Guitar.mp3NumberOfEntries=2Version=2
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an N900 from the Nokia shop about 3 months ago. I'll be going away to (very) foreign parts next month, so I'd like to use the N900 as a tethered modem for my netbook. However when I connect the phone to the netbook via the USB cable, and choose the "PC suite" option, the phone is recognised when I use lsusb in a terminal, but the modem *is not*. Is there something in the phone settings I need to tweak, or an extra app I need to install in the phone, or is it a more fundamental flaw? Google searches for "Nokia N900" + modem + linux give pages which suggest that it should "just work", but it doesn't
If all else fails, I may have to fall back to using my previous phone (a Sony Ericsson v630i), which I *have* used successfully as a tethered modem, but I'd prefer to keep using the N900...
I have downloaded some SIS files and would like to install them on my 5630. How can I do this? Note: I cannot use the PC programs by Nokia, because they are for Windows and my computers have Linux. I tried running the Nokia PC program with "wine", but doesn't work. Can I just copy the SIS files to some place on the phone and install without PC software? I have to copy the files then?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just stumbled across this program today called anyRemote.A pretty nifty piece of software you install on your Linux computer, and an equivalent jar file for your J2ME enabled phone.Check it out at http://anyremote.sourceforge.net/ If you're using Ubuntu, you can find anyRemote in Software Center. I got it working with my SE Aino. You're presented with 12 icons on the screen, which you can press using the 12 numeric keys - or use touch if the phone supports touch, like Aino does. The 12 icons are defined in a default configuration file for each program you can control. You can edit this configuration file to define other controls as you like.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I plug in my phone to my mac, the phone offers me to install the PC software. My computer always says that it doesn't recognize the software. I haven't seen what the PC software actually is, but I'm assuming that it makes transferring files between the devices quite simple. Because I have no software to transfer files, the only way I can transfer files is to open up the original hard files of the memory card. This makes things very difficult because there are important folder deep inside the card and I don't want to risk messing up anything important. Are there any software programs for the Mac that work with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan Motoprint print to a printer that is Linux based or a networked printer?
I have a LAN, with a networked printer server. This printer is set up on my Linux (Ubuntu) PCs with the CUPS printer server, and is also shared using the windows smb (Samba) protocol. I also have a wireless access point/router and can access the printer that way too.
Motoprint sees my printer, but it says that I need to use Motoprint Host to print to it. Motoprint host is a Windows program, and not useable for those not running Windows. I have a Xoom WiFi, USA
I have the desktop software installed ok, but do not see an option to configure with Windows live in the Syncronization configuration.

View 8 Replies View RelatedPlugged the phone into the computer (Vista 32), installed PC Companion, Media Go, etc. PC Companion agreed that I had an X10 mini connected. Sync worked. Media go didn't/doesn't recognise any device. Had a look at what Windows thought - it thought I had a CD-ROM plugged in, and advised me to load a disk. Tried a different USB port. This time windows helpfully installed the appropriate drivers for my device - Floppy Disk drivers. When it is not attached to a computer, the phone advises that it has available space of 1.84GB on an SD card. I have since:
- Updated the phone (from the phone, via wifi)
- Reinstalled PC Companion from the website (instead of from the SD card)
- Tried a different SD card (that I know is good) - nothing.
All I really want is to transfer a few photos and bits of music from my computer to the phone.
When I connect my Z2 to my WIndows 8 laptop through the USB cable the connection is unstable. The laptop recognises the phone and shows it as external harddrive in Windows explorer, but when I open the drive it does not respond. Then after a while it opens a new Windows explorer window with the phone's drive, but again I can not use it.

I've checked that I have the latest driver. And on my desktop PC with Windows 7 I have no problem.
X10 2.1. When im doing SYNC, theres always a message box about windows security asking for a username and passwords. At first I would enter my Sony credentials, thou is not being accepted. What should I do? I think thats the main reason why It wont allow me to SYNC.
