I have more than one computers at home and mine computer have server-based OS Windows 2008. When I tried to install PC Companion it installs fine but at first start it tells me that it installing drivers and in never ends.. So my question is equal subject - is PC Companion compatible with Windows 2008?
View 5 RepliesPlugged the phone into the computer (Vista 32), installed PC Companion, Media Go, etc. PC Companion agreed that I had an X10 mini connected. Sync worked. Media go didn't/doesn't recognise any device. Had a look at what Windows thought - it thought I had a CD-ROM plugged in, and advised me to load a disk. Tried a different USB port. This time windows helpfully installed the appropriate drivers for my device - Floppy Disk drivers. When it is not attached to a computer, the phone advises that it has available space of 1.84GB on an SD card. I have since:
- Updated the phone (from the phone, via wifi)
- Reinstalled PC Companion from the website (instead of from the SD card)
- Tried a different SD card (that I know is good) - nothing.
All I really want is to transfer a few photos and bits of music from my computer to the phone.
Can I load PC companion with Windows 2000?

However, the device specific version doesn't support Windows 7. So I am stuck. The ability to pull music, video, and other files off of a computer at home makes the most sense when used with an always-on computer that also happens to hold all of the desired files. Advertisements have stated 'Windows' compatibility, but Home Server is not a common platform and it is based upon the kernel from Server 2003 which has been made obsolete by a newer Microsoft server OS.In addition, if it does run, can Motocast be installed to run as a service? This would allow it to always be running (in case of resets / power failures) and would be most helpful since Windows Home Server is designed to run 'headless' and unattended.

I have a black screen on my iPhone 4 saying iTunes with the usb picture underneath. Have connected it to macbook and opened iTunes.  It recommends I restore and update which I have tried. I then get a message saying it cannot be restored. error 2008. Followed all the troubleshooting guide on apple website - latest update for iTunes, turning computer off, no other devices connected etc and have searched the web to find out what this error is but cannot find anything about error 2008.

Recently, the update to the new versin was requested and it failed.After this, I have uninstalled the old version, so now I can't use any version of PC companion .I was trying many times to install the new version using Startme.exe on my phone and the downloaded PC Companion_2.10.027_Web.exe. The result was always the same - the installation was starting by displaying the title page of the new version and then was dying after a few seconds.When I reinstall version 2.02.002, it installs successfully, but before allowing to be used, it demands the update to the latest version, which, of course fails.I was trying to switch off all my firewall before the installation (without any change ).After each installation failure, the system log shows some error in NewUI.dll.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring the firmware update process on PC Companion, I deliberately unplugged the phone and my PC now no longer recognizes the phone for performing an update again. Tried installing the firmware, holding the Back key while plugging into the computer etc but still it does not appear as connected. All I can see again and again is a block of color appeared at the bottom of the screen as shown in the photo attached. Have tried a hard reset by holding the left, right and power button at the same time but did not help too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI decided to update my software on my xperia x10... so i tried to open my pc companion and remembered why i hadnt updated it before ... because the pc companion will not work! so i downloaded the pc companion again and guess what, it doesnt work.It downloads fine and then when i try to run it, it says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program". so i do this and try again and it still says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program".I have spent the last three hours resarting my computer making sure all my programs were shut.
Would anyone be able to assist, since it doesn't seem like you can open a support call directly with SE. I am simply trying to update my Experia X10 software and even though I am connected to the internet (and can browse and download anything from anywhere) I can't use the PC Companion software to update my phone. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it (ver 2.0) and still it fails. It simply says 'unable to install or start phone software update components.'

I've gone through all the steps and phases and the software is telling me it's up to date yet there are no changes to my phone at all except the wiping of all my files that I've backed up. View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't synchronize my X10 (Andoid 2.1) with PC Companion via bluetooth despite being able to synchronoze the same phone with the same software (PC Companion). I start PC Companion and select to connect the phone via bluetooth and following the on-line instruction and manage to pair the phone but recieve an error message almost directly that PC Companion is not able to connect to the phone at this time and I am asked to try again later. According to X10 the pairing is succesful.
I have tried with two different computers with exactly the same result. When I check for software updates both the phone and PC Companion are reported to be of the latest versions. Furthermore, I have another phone, a SE Satio, and I am able to succesfully sync the Satio with the same laptop and the same PC Companion software; this indicates to me that the problem is not with the laptop, bluetooth or PC Companion. It strongly indicates a bug in the X10.
