I get to the step of inserting the usb cable, while holding the back button, and nothing happens. except three beeps and the phone restarts. All firewalls and virus programs have been disabled. Latest version of Java (6-23) has been downloaded and presently running Windows XP Home Edition (32)

I'm having trouble updating my X10. The update on PC companion freezes about halfway and after about half an hour notifies me that the update has failed and I should try again. I tried using the SEUS but to no avail, it fails when at 157.7mb with only 1mb left to download.

2nd try:I'm not sure about the battery: I had the phone plugged in for five hours but as it just looped through the power on sequence and showed me the warning message again and again I really do not know whether there was any power in it.Took out battery for about half an hour.Took out SIM and SD.Put battery back in Uninstalled SEUS Rebooted PC Installed SEUS Rebooted PC Else as above...

Recently, the update to the new versin was requested and it failed.After this, I have uninstalled the old version, so now I can't use any version of PC companion .I was trying many times to install the new version using Startme.exe on my phone and the downloaded PC Companion_2.10.027_Web.exe. The result was always the same - the installation was starting by displaying the title page of the new version and then was dying after a few seconds.When I reinstall version 2.02.002, it installs successfully, but before allowing to be used, it demands the update to the latest version, which, of course fails.I was trying to switch off all my firewall before the installation (without any change ).After each installation failure, the system log shows some error in NewUI.dll.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring the firmware update process on PC Companion, I deliberately unplugged the phone and my PC now no longer recognizes the phone for performing an update again. Tried installing the firmware, holding the Back key while plugging into the computer etc but still it does not appear as connected. All I can see again and again is a block of color appeared at the bottom of the screen as shown in the photo attached. Have tried a hard reset by holding the left, right and power button at the same time but did not help too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI decided to update my software on my xperia x10... so i tried to open my pc companion and remembered why i hadnt updated it before ... because the pc companion will not work! so i downloaded the pc companion again and guess what, it doesnt work.It downloads fine and then when i try to run it, it says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program". so i do this and try again and it still says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program".I have spent the last three hours resarting my computer making sure all my programs were shut.
Would anyone be able to assist, since it doesn't seem like you can open a support call directly with SE. I am simply trying to update my Experia X10 software and even though I am connected to the internet (and can browse and download anything from anywhere) I can't use the PC Companion software to update my phone. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it (ver 2.0) and still it fails. It simply says 'unable to install or start phone software update components.'

I've gone through all the steps and phases and the software is telling me it's up to date yet there are no changes to my phone at all except the wiping of all my files that I've backed up. The phone is still on 1.6, I still have only 3 home screens and everything else is the same. I've gone through the update twice now and nothing has changed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOK today I was given a replacement Elm under my insurance because for some reason my Elm's speaker stopped working. Anyway got replacement fine all working well. I noticed the replacement had the previous firmware so I decided to update it using SEUS. Now after updating & setting up the phone again I noticed the clear voice & noise shield function had vanished I looked all through the menus & also during call menus but nowhere to be found. So I reinstalled AGAIN only to be greeted with the same problem. I called customer service number & got through right away. Spoke to a Scottish lady who had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. I knew that I was right & she was wrong. She went on to say that the clear call & noise shield function is NOT a feature of the Elm WTF? I said the feature is advertised on the website for the Elm & on the bloody box At this point I asked to speak with someone else & she went off to speak to someone & came back to repeat the same thing again I said how can you say this about it's not a feature of the Elm when it's advertised as it is? She then said when we send out the generic phones we don't put that feature on the phone it's the stores that do? At this point I just gave up & said forget it Has customer service always been that bad? I have not called them for many years but today was shocking
View 11 Replies View RelatedI can't synchronize my X10 (Andoid 2.1) with PC Companion via bluetooth despite being able to synchronoze the same phone with the same software (PC Companion). I start PC Companion and select to connect the phone via bluetooth and following the on-line instruction and manage to pair the phone but recieve an error message almost directly that PC Companion is not able to connect to the phone at this time and I am asked to try again later. According to X10 the pairing is succesful.
I have tried with two different computers with exactly the same result. When I check for software updates both the phone and PC Companion are reported to be of the latest versions. Furthermore, I have another phone, a SE Satio, and I am able to succesfully sync the Satio with the same laptop and the same PC Companion software; this indicates to me that the problem is not with the laptop, bluetooth or PC Companion. It strongly indicates a bug in the X10.
I'm getting really, really frustrated. PC Companion use to detect my phone, but no longer does. I've connected by bluetooth, but this is inconsistent. I know the drivers are downloaded with PC Companion, but uninstalling, installing, searching for drivers hasn't worked.
