Nokia Lumia :: Cannot Connect 920 With Windows Phone App For Windows
Nov 12, 2012
I'm trying to download my music but WP8 uses the Windows Phone App client in Windows 8. Wll, when I tried connecting my phone, it says "Your phone is having troubles" error message. The instruction says to power off the phone. But no luck. Tried searching MS community but nothing there (but I won't rule out I didn't search well. Also, I posted the same question there and waiting for a response.)
I can't connect my Lumia 1020 to my PC. When I cable it in, I see in device manager under "other device" that the phone is listed with a yellow point. I tried to uninstall it and the replug it in but this does not work. I followed the instructions at: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2749484 but without success. My phone still won't be recognized.
I've tried to connect to both w7 and w8, in the case of w7 the drivers install and the icon for the windows phone is visible under My Computer, but any attempt to interact with it produces an error. On w8 the new Windows Phone app downloads when the phone is first plugged in, but the software never reconizes the handset, it just gives a "your phone is notplaying nice error".
When I check Device Manager, I keep getting "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" and the device is a "RM-821|Nokia Lumia 920". I have restarted both Phone and laptop several times. I did connect successfully to my HTC Radar. I don't even get the "Charging" symbol on my Lumia. Connecting My Lumia to another laptop running Windows 8 works just fine. How can I install the correct driver, and from where to I get it? I expected to get it from Windows Update as it should "just works".
I am able to connect to my secure network at home as well as the AT&T hotspots; however, my 900 is does not connect to my work Wi-Fi network.. It lists the network, and I input the correct credentials, it thinks for a couple of seconds and then errors out with a message similar to - unable to connect to the network.
I am trying to deploy some code to two Windows Phone 8 devices from Windows 8.Unfortunatey, the 920 and 820 are both not causing me some amount of trouble. When I plug the devices in it recognises them as Windows Phones and I can explore the files on the devices but when I press deploy on my code it says no Windows Phone 8 device detected. When looking in device manager there is two versions of the Nokia device I am using and an exclamation mark, update the drivers says "drivers not found online" and uninstalling the drivers just removes them but then after a restart the two versions both with exclamation marks pops up again.
In the logs I have found this:>>> [Device Uninstall (Device Manager) - USBVID_0421&PID_0661&MI_027&31C54B4D&0&0002]>>> Section start 2012/11/20 10:44:43.718cmd: "C:Windowssystem32mmc.exe" C:Windowssystem32devmgmt.mscdvi: {DIF_REMOVE} 10:44:43.723dvi: No class installer for 'RM-825|Nokia Lumia 820'dvi: No CoInstallers founddvi: Default installer: Enter 10:44:43.741dvi: {Remove DEVICE}dvi: InstanceID = 'USBVID_0421&PID_0661&MI_027&31C54B4D&0&0002'dvi: Query-and-Remove succeededdvi: {Remove DEVICE exit (0x00000000)}dvi: Default installer: Exitdvi: {DIF_REMOVE - exit(0x00000000)} 10:44:43.794<<< Section end 2012/11/20 10:44:43.800<<< [Exit status: SUCCESS][Boot Session: 2012/11/20 10:45:14.488]>>> [Device Install (DiShowUpdateDevice) - USBVID_0421&PID_0661&MI_027&31C54B4D&0&0002]>>> Section start 2012/11/20 10:48:59.372cmd: "C:Windowssystem32mmc.exe" C:Windowssystem32devmgmt.mscdvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI} 10:48:59.397dvi: No class installer for 'RM-825|Nokia Lumia 820'dvi: No CoInstallers founddvi: Default installer: Enter 10:48:59.413dvi: Default installer: Exitdvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI - exit(0xe000020e)} 10:48:59.422ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard for USBVID_0421&PID_0661&MI_027&31C54B4D&0&0002}ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard exit(000004c7)}<<< Section end 2012/11/20 10:49:07.746<<< [Exit status: FAILURE(0x000004c7)]Something is going wrong but I can't for the life of me think what it is, please note the cables and devices work as expected on another window 8 pc.
I would like to ask about Windows Phone 8 smartphones1. Do they support Skype, Gmail and Yahoo! Messenger?2. Are there game emulator applications for PSX (PS One), N64, GBA or SNES for them?3. Do they have office editor preloaded?
I signed up an account windows live, it allows me to download everything on marketplace. I also downloaded ZUNE set up on my laptop ( OS: Windows 7 ) and create an account on ZUNE. But when I plugged in my phone into laptop, on screen, the ZUNE said "No device is connected". I don't know why.
And I want to tranfer music and pictures from my laptop to phone and vice versa. How can I do that if ZUNE said No device is connected?
Previously I was using Nokia E7 from which I can use device as modem and can connect to internet on PC via USB cable thru Nokia PC Suite, Now I have change my device and using Nokia Lumia 610. How can use this device as modem and can connect to internet on PC via USB cable as this iphone does not connect to PC Suite and Zune in only used for media and photo sharing purpose. I just got a WP7, and it's got an app called maps, and it can tell me where I'm at. I don't have a gps plan with ATT.does anybody know if it uses the phone's gps to find my location or does it locate my phone by some other means?
I am trying to download apps from the marketplace and use other things that use Live. Whenever I try to download an app, I get "The Windows Phone Live ID service is unavailable right now. Try again later". I have tries to reenter my live ID password and restarted my phone. Sent from my SGH-i917 via the HowardForums WP7 App?
Like all I see I also bought a windows 800 on the basis that all our team of 50 would change from Iphones to windows so we could sync with our outlook which is not server based but we each run our own outlook folders but no there is no outlook sync. Yes you can copy to the live account and then use that as your main calendar but who wants to do that?
I asked and was told specifically that it would sync with outlook so the Carephone Warehouse guy either lied or did not know his stuff ( I know what my guess is!) Amazingly my wife's samsung galaxy using Android does sync.
If you can tell me how I can synchronise my windows phone with my Outlook without exporting and importing CSV and ICS files then please do so.

Nokia Music is supported in Singapore but I can't update the application to its latest version 3.1 because it says "This app is not available for you device". Many users around the world are unable to update too, as seen from your support forums.
Only apps for windows phone 8 are being updated and are even included new features and stability fixesEven angry birds space &star wars are Xbox live enabled for wp8I thing we the first generation Lumia owners will be left behindand we will never get new apps ad updated appsI know my POST will be PREMOVED in a few hours Because it is a TRUTH
I would love to use a Lumia and to be able to send sms through Nokia Suite by connecting bthrough usb cable and also by bluetooth.I connect my Nokia Belle phones almost every day by bluetooth and send sms.The freedom to do that is long implemented i my daily life and the reason is plain simple;while surfing on the pc, checking business stuff, writing messages or whatever and not have to pick up the phone is such easy task, not to mention how easy it is too use the keyboard of the pc and the speed and accuracy of writing...people who like me have done this for years, surely will miss this feature or whatever you want to call it.

Don't know where I can write this report for Windows Phone developers. May be Nokia'a developers can share it with them? + it has some information for NokiaFirst of all Windows Phone 7.5 - very good OS, after Sony Ericsson Java Platform 8. But I found few "problems". Hope they are will be fixed in future versions of WP7.X or WP8.x.missing time of the nearest reminder on the lock screen. Not from calendar, but from Alarms;sms compose in horisontal mode has backspace-button near the send-button. Very danger combination in list of call history require one of icons: missed, call to my phone, call from my phone (in C510 it was perfect);some of titles OS output with very large font, but some with very small font. Large font is excellent, but small font is too small. Missing some option to increase small font. Some of your business users in ages and do not have perfect vision for such small font. + When small font with blue color, even I can't read it on the sun;Market / category list has language of my account region, but have to be of my OS UI;missing time on top of screen in browser and games. When I read something in browser or "kill the time" in games, I need to keep track of time;missing "Mobile 2" in contacts.
In our country some people has 2-3 mobile phones...power key is always under thumb when I talk with someone (Lumia 800). Very bad place for it. I think ideal place is on top border (for left hand and right hand people); My previous phone (SE C510) has very good battery safe feature: if you press on any volume button while it in sleep mode, the phone little lighted display with time and few icons (missed call, calendar alarm) if require. In result we do not take many energy for get current time and look, did we missed something
I upgraded my Nokia Lumia 1520 from windows 8.0 to windows 8.1 and I can not use the phone anymore because its permanently on flight mode and i can't connect to my mobile Network.

This might be a silly question, but is there video calling capability on the LG Quantum or on any windows 7 phone? Skype hasn't made anything yet but is there anything there at all in the video calling realm?sent from my LG-C900 via the HowardForums WP7 App?
For a few years now, businesses have been looking for a replacement device for the unfortunately slowly dying Blackberries they have been using since about a decade. In the past few years the iPhone has gained some ground on that aspect, as a lot more businesses have started supporting in-house use of the device. Android on the other hand, as flexible, versatile and capable as it may be, has it's share of challenges for a business that cannot be overlooked. Such as fragmentation, the extremely wide variety of devices and their features, etc. For those reasons, I don't see Android being widely adopted in the business market in the next few years.
However with the announcement of Windows Phone 8, and the new business friendly features that are coming,R() I think we could see a turnaround as business slowly, perhaps VERY slowly, start to adopt Windows Phone as their trusted OS for the enterprise. This could be Windows Phone's saving grace, as it has been for RIM for a very long time. Although, if and when Microsoft grabs a good chunk of business smartphone marketshare, hopefully it will also give them a boost of interest for the consumer part of the equation. Because with these new features, Windows Phone is just as good a business device than a consumer device.
Also, don't forget about how many different Microsoft products are used in the vast majority of enterprises : Windows for Desktops, Windows Server, Office, Sharepoint, Exchange, etc. are all products that are ...EXTREMELY present in the industry. This translates into Microsoft begin known as a very "trusted" company, and any product coming from them is assumed to have a certain level of quality and business-friendliness to it.
I just upgraded from a Lumia 521 to a Lumia 1320 last week. I can't run Windows Phone 8.1 DP on my new 1320. Apparently it's something to do with Cricket Wireless. WP 8.1 DP will install, but then it's frequent crash/restart loops. On my Lumia 521, there was a setting to enable pushing store apps/updates from Windows Phone Store in IE 11 on my Windows 8.1 Pro x64 pc to my phone.
I can't remember where the setting was in Windows Phone 8.1 for enabling this. Also, on my Lumia 521 in the Lock Screen settings, I could set the time to never, 30 minutes, 15 minutes. 5 minutes, 3 minutes or 1 minute. On my Lumia 1320 the settings are only 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes. Is there a way to get the old settings for this back ? The 30 minutes or never is useful for updates or backups. The 5 minute crap stinks.
Just a question for those who have tested Windows Phone 10 Beta or currently have a Windows Phone 10.
Is it now possible to encrypt the whole device, its apps and all the content (documents, photos, music, videos, etc...) on the phone on Windows Phone 10?
I don't see that feature on Windows Phone 8.1.
Microsoft kind of lags behind competitors (Android, Blackberry, iPhone) for phone encryption . In 2015 encryption is cleary necessary to protect our phone and its content.
I received a Nokia 1520.3 that was swapped by Nokia service center yesterday. My old model was Nokia RM-938_Ita_Ita_905 which work fine expect white dots; the new model is Nokia RM-938_nam_canada_104.
The first thing I notice is that my new phone doesn't recognize the T-Mobile LTE, in the Setting, the maximum connection speed is only 3G which I used getting LTE. I also exchanged the SIM card in the T-Mobile store, still the same.
Another thing is, cannot update to Windows phone 8.1. I tried Hard reset, soft reset, use the Nokia Recovery Tool... still cannot get windows phone 8.1 update.
