I've tried "File Manager" that comes with PC companion but whenever I click "Start" it just opens an explorer windows with the following path "C:Program FilesSony EricssonSony Ericsson PC Companion" ... and I never see my phone mapped as drive in windows?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is bizarre, everything was fine until this morning, not sure what's going on but the phone still comes up in Windows 8 file explorer, however as soon as I click the Internal Storage directory, file explorer stalls as the green progress bar slowly crawls along and eventually times out.
The phone says it's in MTP mode.
I looked at the driver supporting this phone for Windows 8 and it says it's from 2006. I found a link for installing thhe Google USB driver but there is no instructions for installing it in Windows 8, the phone not connecting to the computer in MTP mode which isn't an issue for me.
Rebooted the phone and tried again, no luck.
Does anyone know of any surefire way to transfer files to and from the Bionic to a windows 7 PC?
I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.
Why can't I see thumbnails in explorer when I'm connected to a PC using the USB.It sees the files, but puts up that graphic instead of the thumbnmail.I'm using XP SP3 with current updates which is OK according to Belarc. The phones a new Xperia Ray, which I quite like.

After a few updates it seems as though the videoformat has changed, because I can't import them in any software on my computer. Windows Media Player won't play them, Sony Vegas editing software won't accept it, Avidemux won't convert it. When I open the folders with videofiles from the Z3, no image of them can be displayed. It suddenly seems completely incompatibable with anything on Windows. How do I get to use the stills and video shot with my Z3 again?

I have the sa0101usb.inf file (and all the rest in the SEMC_Signed folder). I right-click and click Install, but I get the following error: "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation". I have also tried "upgrading the driver" of "PHONE CARD" under "Portable Devices" in the Device Manager, but the driver does not seem compatible with the device (according to Windows).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a relatively new user to this phone, and so I have been trying to get my music files (mp3 format) onto my phone.I have bought a new 32GB sd card to load them on, and some files will play, but most state they can't play.I have tried a transfer using file copying, and also used MediaGo, but I still get similar results.The mp3 files play correctly on my computer (Windows Media Player) and on my iPOD, so I think the files should be ok.Are there specific sampling bit rates needed for the Xperia?Further to this thread, I have now ripped some original cd's in various formats and bit rates (Mp3 to WAV), and it makes little difference to their ability to play. Some do, but mostly they don't. I can't find any common factor.
Finally getting somewhere .... I think there is a problem with the new 32Gb MicroSD. Its rated class 10, so its maybe faulty or too fast???I replaced the sd with the one that came with the phone, which is 2Gb (no class stated), and everything plays fine with this.

My phone was connected by usb I run Sony PC Companion, windows explorer started and it was writen that SD Card 708MB Free and 3.65GB full, but I double clicked SD card and there was only two files; "customized-capability" and "default-capability".
