Xperia X10 Mini/pro :: Update Failed On O2 - Still At 1.6
Nov 9, 2010
i have a x10 mini which is an o2 pay as you go purchased in england. i followed the sony erricsson instructions posted on Internet to upgrade my phone. after a fun filled few hours the other evening, and after rebooting the phone for a final time the phone was still at v1.6. the pc companion software downloded and appeared to update the phone correctly. now if i try to repeat the upgrade process the pc companion says that the phone's software is up to date.
I have a XPERIA X10 mini/pro and I just installed PC Companion on my computer. After the installation the SW indicated that there is an update available. Unfortunately I get a message:"The update failed". The failure occurs at "Prepare" during the "starting update engine" phase.
I am a new user of the x10 mini pro and would like to update it. I have been following the update instruction from this site, installed companion but during the update the phone switches itself off and the update fails. I have tried one work around involving checking the 'charge battery' but this didn't work and the phone still shuts itself off.
My Xperia x10 mini pro cable failed during the update. While the update is installing already, the cable got moved accidentally; therefore disconnecting the phone. Right now, my phone won't even turn on! It only shows an image of a phone with an exclamation point.
I tried updating my phone with pc companion and it failed. It only got 50%! Now my phone will not turn on. It won't flash with the service tool or pc companion or the flash tool from XDA! Is my phone faulty? If not what can I do?
I just purchased 'Xperia X10 mini pro" and I have to admit that this phone is realy amazing.I'm trying to update it with "SonyEricsson Update Service" and I'm following every single steps, but in "Connect" section, when I have to hold back key and connect the cable to phone it shows me this error:
through adb i read the message "E/vending(1428): [23] AsynchRequestRunner$1.run(): Got auth failure from server -> invalidating auth tokens." Is there any way to fix it without have to factory reset the device? I don't want to loose all contacts media and applications i loaded on phone.
Just got me self a Experia Mini Pro, but seem to be having problems when using applications such as facebook, which is extremly slow and at times says cannot receive or find internet connection. The same goes to whatsapp it is not registering even though I see a small H symbol with arrows at the top corner and at times a small G symbol
my computer always ends up not responding while trying to update the software to ICS. I've tried to update the phone for many times and always ends with my computer become not responding. and i've tried to update with 2 different computers and get the same result.
After many attempts backing up, I have finally done so......But when PC companion is 'preparing' to update..it doesn't. It says Installation Error...'unable to install or start phone software update componnets'. 'the update of software failed'. I have tried again
I just tried to update my MT15i using SEUS 2.11.11.21 to FW 4.0.2.A.0.42.It failed.1st try:Loaded battery (99%)Switched off phone Took out battery for about 5 minutes and put it back in.Started SEUS, held return button, proceeded as required...Firmware download seemed OK.Actual update failed near the end.Phone does not start up - just displays warning message
2nd try:I'm not sure about the battery: I had the phone plugged in for five hours but as it just looped through the power on sequence and showed me the warning message again and again I really do not know whether there was any power in it.Took out battery for about half an hour.Took out SIM and SD.Put battery back in Uninstalled SEUS Rebooted PC Installed SEUS Rebooted PC Else as above...
Using PC Companion I have progressed to what I can only assume is the end of the preparation phase after 3 hours, the progress bar is complete; and then I get this meaningless message that the update failed.
This is very frustratiing as there is not much clue about what caused the failure. If it is because of a missing component, as pointed out already, why can PC Companion not check at the start of the marathon preparation that everything is in place and we will not waste so much time connected for nothing.
I have tried SUS and that fails because Windows can't find S1Boot with that remarkably phone procedure. I have looked at downloading S1Boot, as suggested, however then there are warnings on Warranty. Does PC Compantion/SUS download not contain S1Boot?
I got a notification yesterday on my sony Xperia Z3, asking for an update using Sony PC Companion, i did it and then it said that a network problem has occured, and from that point on, when i try to power the phone it says " the software update failed, make sure the phone is connected to the computer and try again "  I tried the "power button + volume up" when charging, the phone started powering on and off all the time and after an hour it got really hot ! I was so scared so I unplugged it.
I've been having problems with my phone recently, it doesn't recieve some text messages or show my missed calls. A friend suggested that it may just need updating, which made sense because I'd been getting update notifications, just hadn't got round to hooking my ohone up to my laptop. So I did just that and installed the 'companion' but when I try to update, it's asking me to insert a memory card. I've never taken it out! Not once. So i've turned the phone off and on again, as you do.
Having installed the update I then went into back up and restore to restore my phone settings but it hasn't worked properly. Only about 20% of my phone book is showing and it says the SIM card is not available, none of my Apps returned and a theme I paid £1.99 for hasn't loaded properly as it's only got the wallpaper and none of the modified icons. My full contact list is still on the SIM card as I checked it in my previous phone that my Dad now has so why isn't it appearing on my phone? It's extremely inconvenient not having access to it as I don't have a back up anywhere else and most of the missing numbers are the ones I use regularly.
Update available in sony bridge for mac -> update started and while updating if got the notice, that the updated get a failure -> only one option in the menu "end" -> now my pro is out of funktion and there is no way to get it started..
My Sony Xperia Z2 failed a update back in the beginning of may. The problem is, i have no SD-Card or back-up pictures at my computer. Is there anyway, i can save my pictures? I don't say i have to fix it, who can save my pictures for me.
Got a message on my phone to plug it into the Pc for an xperia update.
The update failed and when I got my phone, it was off. tryied to turn it on but it would just vibrate and nothing else. Â Tryied about everything, letting it charge, turn it on with Volume + pressed, nothing works. Â When I put it to charge the led blinks red but it doesn't turn on. The screen is just black, not even the logo pops up
I was updating the phone to 5.1(i think) from 4.4(kitkat). Half way through, it says ERROR: Update Failed.Â
I plug it in the computer and attempt to fastboot/recovery mode/ SUS but it doesnt register under the software. (No device detected)
It is quite similar to this: [URL] ....
However, i did not unlock bootloader or do anything to void my warrenty. Will sony be able to aid me in restoring my phone? I have backed up my data on my computer so that will not be a problem.Â
I have shut off the phone for 2hours before attempting to SUS it, using the "Power + Volume UP" key. Used volume down and plugged into computer to attempt to connect to fastboot/recovery. Used volume up and plugged into computer to attempt to connect to fastboot/recovery.
I tried using Sony Bridge for Mac to update my Z3. Naturally, it failed (I had massive problems updating the other Xperia I had too).  All my phone wants to do now is say 'The software update failed.Make sure your phone is connected to a computer and try again'. This is, of course, a ridiculous thing to suggest, as my Mac will now not recognise the device as I can't turn it on.
I've seen a lot of discussion regarding the X10 not turning on after a failed update, but my issue seems to be different from all of them.I've seen people mentioning that their green light flickers, or the screen is frozen or displays an error message. Mine does NONE of that.Holding down the power button does nothing at all. The phone shows no sign of life. The LED doesn't come on, the screen doesn't come on, nothing. It does nothing. The battery is charged (and I even left it charging for over an hour - during which the LED was STILL off) and it will not connect to any of the Sony Ericsson software on my laptop.
I have an Xperia X10 since July on Vodafone UK. It is (was) running the latest SE firmware, but is now 'bricked' - I learned this term while googl-ing for the problem, but all the mentions involve 'debranding' or installation of unofficial (unauthorised) firmware releases - and I haven't done ANY of that.
The story in detail:
1. In recent days I noticed some glitches in the performance of Android Market on the phone: some downloads were reported as 'unsuccessful' and had to be repeated. This happened both with new apps and with updates. On occasions a reboot was necessary for downloads to start happening normaly again.
2. Today (Sat 30-10) this went to extreme: NO download from the Market was possible at all, each time it stalled forever. As explanation, an error message started coming up: "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped and needs to be force-closed". No rebooting would solve this. I cleaned several caches (after reading various forums about the error)
3. I decided to reinstall the firmware, hoping to fix the Market performance. Backed up all my data and connected to PC Companion. In the first phase it reported that I "already have the latest version", but I wasn't after an update, so I went on to Repair / Reinstall.
4. The download went smoothly and the installation started well, proceeding to near-the-end. THEN, PC Companion reported: "The installation was unsuccessful, try again". I tried - several times, and the result was the same. Decided to return to my existing installation and seek other ways to repair that 'com.google.,..' process.
5. On attempting to boot, I saw that dreaded YELLOW TRIANGLE with no explanation, and a dead phone not responding to any controls. Had to turn it off by removing thebattery..
6. Several re-installation attempts with both Companion and SEUS also failed, and I am stuck with a useless brick
Today Morning I have connected Xperia X10i to the computer PC Companion popup opens for 2.1 update. I fallowed the instructions and took backup in the third step after downloading new software while updating a popup window appeared "unable to Update try later" the phone is still connected to the PC and Internet connection is also fine. I have disconnected from PC then it is asking for step 3(switch off phone then press and hold back button step) again did that no Luck. Now the phone is not starting at all I think it formatted all the software..My phone is almost in dead condition. Now if I connected to the PC it is detecting as a mass storage and PC companion is not at all recognizing
I am doing the updates on my x10 for the first time, I have followed the instructions on how to back up the data, (which I have done) and when I press on do updates it goes through 3/4 of the preparing and then says the update of software failed and just tells me to consult sony ericsson support. I am connected through usb cable.
I just updated my Xperia Mini Pro, but after the update, a) new text messages appear at the bottom of the list of texts (so annoying!) and b) the newest text message does not appear on the list when I reply to it.Is this a bug? I really don't think it's a feature.
Just wanted to share my experience. I did the update on November 8. I didn't bother to do the backup. The only real important is the contacts and Google have them already. I used the Update Service tool and it worked like a charm. After restarting the phone I had to go through the setup wizard, which by the way is much improved. I now realized that I had lost all my downloaded applications. I downloaded them again from market. Most of them had all the old data, nice. Some games lost all history, no big deal really. My contacts, mail and calendar was downloaded from Google.
I realy like the fact that it is possible to send contacts by SMS. The images from facebook also works very well.
The one thing that I am still not used to is the unlooking. The habbit of pressing the menu button twice is had to kick. I think the new way with the slider is somewhat safer. Now I am waiting 2.2 with tethering. I hope this will be available for X10 mini some time in the future.
I got notification from PC Companion that ICS 4.1.b.0.431 update is available for my neo v (4.0.4). I started updating it. Since it said that personal data will not be hampered, I did not create backup of contacts, sms etc. After downloading, I got message for updating failure. Now the phone is not turning on, showing "Sony " and then exclamation mark and turning off. I have a choice to repair the phone but I'm fearing of loosing my personal data.
I was updating my new Z5 when the USB cable fell out of my computer, and now I get the message "software update failed reconnect and try again" I've tried a force shutdown, and PC companion can not find my telephone, what I can do to reset the phone ??
Recently i was updatin my Z2 with a wifi conection, but after a while it stopped downloading the update and it showed me this message: "Error - Update failed", and now i cant use it, i tried to reset it with the reset botton but it didn´t work so now i don´t know what to do,
I have installed Lollipop but PC Companion insist an update exist i ended with a Software update failed boot message, my error was try to update with battery with 65% of charge. And cannot remember what happen but i ended with the Software update failed error, and the phone switch off and on and off and on with the same message, i read other post about turn off and charge, but i turn off with the little red button to force it but if i connect the magnetic cable or the usb cable to power it turn on again, i force to turn off and and the phone turn on again (with the message of failed update).
