I recently bought the Xperia play 4g but seems to have trouble connecting 4g. how to turn the 4g on so I could get access to the internet w/o having to use a wi-fi? I encountered the same problem with my mom's Samsung Infuse but figured it out. I just need to know how to turn the network data on in this thing
View 6 RepliesI updated to the newest update (the offical ways) my phone is completly untouched.But now i can`t get acces to my cellular network. It finds the network, but when i try to get my phone to register with it, it simply says the sim card does not allow it.I tryd rolling back to the old firmware/os and the phone is back to normal, and i got accses to the cell network.So i tryd updateing again ( over the air... flashed the file manuelly) still the same.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Xperia PLAY and recently the screen went fuzzy and I couldn't see anything so I had it repaired. However when I got it back it will not connect to my network which is Vodafone Ireland. When I try to connect it says "Your SIM Card does not allow a connection to this network". I have changed the mode from WCDMA and GSM and vice versa but still it won't connect. I even got a new sim card to try that. It will work with any of my older phones but not this one. The phone works perfectly at everthing else including internet by Wi-Fi but not as a phone.
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter completing factory reset the phone can not find any signal on both sim cards (different operators). Before the reset both networks ware working properly.
What was done so far:
- factory reset three more times
- software update
- repair phone using Sony PC Companion
- checked with another sim card (another operator) - still no service
- trying to switch on/off airplane mode in every menu location available
- After trying to manually find service provider, phone goes to search mode and stays in it not finding any
After switching on the phone or switching off the airplane mode the phone seems to need more time than before (around 1 min) to find the SIM cards. After the sim card is found stays without network.
I used my phone about 15 minutes ago. When I went to check the time it was off and now it won't turn on. Is their anything I can do to fix it or do I have to go out and get a new phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy xperia asked my if I wanted to update the software, I pressed yes then later on when that was done, a message popped up saying that another part of the update would turn the phone off for about 30 minutes or so if I remember correctly. Now it will not turn on again. When I hold the power button it just vibrates for about half a second then pulses. Like vibrates for half a second then waits another 3-5seconds the vibrates again etc.*It's not a charging problem the green light shows when it's fully charged and that still operates.*I think it is rooted. I gave it to a friend to do it he said he put some of the root items on their but couldn't fully do it.

I know the phone itself is still functional as it recognizes that it's plugged in to a charger and It still vibrates and rings whenever I recieve calls or texts.

You buy the game, that downloads the initial data to download the rest of the game etc...I get that far and then I got to the app and it asks "The game needs to download an additional (insert amount here) of data. Would you like to do that now?" I press yes and it starts downloading. Each game gets to about 7 percent, then it say "There was an error would you like to restart the download?" It keeps doing that over and over again, there is nothing I can do to get around it. Note that I've downloaded a few games now without issues, a few of the new games I just purchased are from the same developer. However getting tired of it i decided maybe its just the wifi and now i'm doing it through 3G...so far its gotten half way, but being 3G its slower and I don't want to be forced to use this everytime i buy a game...I have about 4 new games i can't download the data too through wifi and can't return because the time frame is up....

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was checking my phone one morning when it asked me to update, after that a message popped up saying that for the next update the phone had to be turned off for about 5 minutes. It never turned on again after that.I already posted a discussion notice about it not turning and the wonderful team member helped me and told me to flash my phone and try the updater. I've done both now and my phone is yet to turn on.I believe the flashing must of done something as now the LED light on the power button flashes red when I hold down it. But it still does not turn on.This has been really frustrating and the problem still continues to go on.Now when I try pc companion update service and hold the back button and connect the phone my PC doesn't recognize the device. Same message pops up if I just plug my phone in normally.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?
Going on a cruise next week that has GSM roaming on it. I plan to leave the phone off unless I need to check in with someone in US.I know that the voice rate will be $4.99 per minute, but how do I turn off the data portion of the phone to not rack up crazy roaming data charges. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed an issue with the Galaxy S5 that apparently only occurs with the Verizon variant. I work for a place called Wireless Advocates, we are the cell phone kiosk inside of Costco. I'm asking about this because I've had three customers come in to ask about this background data issue.
I'm not sure what triggers this issue but when I try opening up google play I get the "Background Data Disabled : Google Play Store Needs background data to be Enabled" error. It then gives you the ability to either quit or enable the data. If you press enable it takes you to the account screen in settings.
When I go to Data usage the option to "restrict background data" is greyed out. You can't even select it and it isn't checkmarked either. Just to clarify, accessing the internet and other things on the phone work perfectly fine. It's just the use of Google Play that is having issues. I called Samsung customer care and they aren't aware of this issue at all. Also note that force stopping google play, play services, removing the google accounts and adding them back and rebooting the phone haven't solved it. After the reboot the phone will appear fine and then a box that says "Restricting background data".
what does this mean? i just got my iPhone 4 today and i was on the road (apple store is an hour drive from where i live) and i was texing my friends, had:
celluar data: OFF
enable 3g: OFF
data roaming: OFF
and i kept getting this response "turn on cellular data or use Wi-FI to access data" anyone know how to fix this? am i suppose to leave Cellular data on? i turned it off because i thought it would be wasting data. (got 200MB plan)
i am a bit surprised that i cannot find software that does this.at home i have a network with a NAS, it also runs a mediaserver.i use this to have all my music and pictures available for all computers in my house.the N97 mini i bought about a year back was then promoted to have upnp av and network protocols. i suspected by now there would be players available that could either browse your home network or play back from the mediaserver.i have tried: SYmplayer, that shows me all computers with shared folders and i can play music from those, but not my NAS.(Fritzbox 7340 with NAS and mediaserver enabled)The nas is visible from vista and win7, but on xp you can only map it if you know the ip adress.
Symbian also only sees the windows computers in the networkSince there is no way to type in the path to my nas from symplayer it does work.i have also tried core player(core codex), but had no luck since the certificate was outdated and files to sign it yourself were not present.same was for 10live media...some asian player, but i accept if that is the only opneoggplayer/winamp seems also been discontinued or not workingi could not find anything else.strange that there is no interest in those tools, but if somebody else has bright ideas i would really like to know.it seems that nobody want to make their n97mini a mediaserver or something that can grab files from their network shares.
My message notification tone used to play all the way thru when I received a message now it only plays two seconds then cuts off I have tried changing the tone but they are all the same.

However, when i play Battlefield two and attempt to use both touch pads to move about, the game freezes and locks up until i cease touching the two game pads. FYI, im using the stock launcher and i recently reboot the phone so the stock games were deleted. its a canadian phone on the Rogers network. Should i just bring the phone in?
