Xperia PLAY :: Data Is Missing After Update?
Jul 10, 2011I update my Xperia Play and now all the data was deleted. All my games are deleted and all my contacts. Any way to get them back back or did i have to pay for the games again?

Jan 18, 2011I've tried to update to 2.1 twice (once via PC Companion and once via SE Update Service) but have had problems with the new 2.1 after each attempt. Part of contacts list was missing even after backing up data. Font display is noticeably larger. Words on various apps are cut off. Also lost the user guides. Is it possible for me to revert back to 1.6? How to try and successfully install 2.1?

Aug 6, 2011couldn't find anything specific in the forum already so I thought I'd ask. This morning (or at some point during the night) my messaging icon disappeared from the bottom of my home page on my xperia play. I'm just left with the usual media, contacts and phone icons. I tried to manually add it, but I get a message saying 'No room on this home screen'. I don't know how or why this has happened, as he icon was there last night, and at some point in the night it vanished. I don't switch my phone off, so I'm at a loss as to why it could have just disappeared for no apparent reason.

Nov 20, 2011Well basically i have bought this amazing phone xperia play, however downside is the internal memory only 400mb ( i mean seriously) but anyway ive been 'app exploring' and downloaded so many to my sd, but some were un movable from the phone i do not know why. so upon getting full i thought it will be a good idea to give it a reboot, upon doing that, when i revisited the phone ive lost all my apps on my sd card, funny enough i still have my photos and media on the sd card.
also in the settings>applications?managing applications and in the sd section its showing 2.90 gb availible of 7.99 or somrthing, basically the apps are there but i can't view them(thats what i gatherd from this issue)

Nov 19, 2011My phone recieved notification of a new software update yesterday, it also said i could update it over the air, then contradictid itself by saying i had to use the PC Companion software. Which i did use, i connected my phone, tried to update the software, but when i get to the change from MSC to MTP part, it trys to connect to my phone then says it cannot connect... ?I tried the Wi-Fi updated through the PC companion and the USB updater & they were both saying the same things...It just won't let me update and its really frustrating seeing as im following the instructions given to me...

Dec 17, 2011I can no longer download the "additional data" most games force you to download to play them. You buy the game, that downloads the initial data to download the rest of the game etc...I get that far and then I got to the app and it asks "The game needs to download an additional (insert amount here) of data. Would you like to do that now?" I press yes and it starts downloading. Each game gets to about 7 percent, then it say "There was an error would you like to restart the download?" It keeps doing that over and over again, there is nothing I can do to get around it. Note that I've downloaded a few games now without issues, a few of the new games I just purchased are from the same developer. However getting tired of it i decided maybe its just the wifi and now i'm doing it through 3G...so far its gotten half way, but being 3G its slower and I don't want to be forced to use this everytime i buy a game...I have about 4 new games i can't download the data too through wifi and can't return because the time frame is up....

Dec 19, 2011I finally gave in and updated the phone because the shutdowns and restarts were getting ridiculous but now cant find / or access memory card no matter how many times i restart my phone or take the card out however the card itself is fine and works as i can put it directly in laptop and access my stuff on there.

After I disconnected the phone, I found that many of my Apps went missing. Went to Google Play store to reinstall the apps, only to get the message "App cannot be installed in default location". My phone memory storage has been really low lately, about 30Mb left, and I haven't installed any new apps. I have moved most of the apps to my SD card, not sure what has happened.

The new features like video on Gtalk, 3D panaromic camera, swype, etc. are welcome changes.But what disappoints me is that one essential thing is still missing, a smart dialer. Yes, I can pick one from the market, lots available for free, but none will blend in with the default theme of the phone. So SE please think on providing this.Another thing is the missing animations. SE stands out for style but again two really nice animations are removed. One is the CRT like animation you get when the screen is turned off on hitting the power button. Second one is when you open the SMS app.

Aug 3, 2011I have just got a new Xperia play R800i and I am trying to update my software to 3.0.1.A.0.145. The problem is my PC just hangs and I have to reeboot it. I have installed PC companion and it prompts me that there is an update available so I click to update and it goes through the process till it tell me to turn off the phone and press the back button while inseting the USB cable after that it says "Found New Hardware SEMC flash Device" then just hags and I have to restart the PC. I have dual boot windows XP and windows 7 and have tried both operating systems.
