Samsung :: Stunt - Tethering Via Bluetooth Connection?
Feb 6, 2010
Can anyone give me instructions or tell me if it is even possible to tether via bluetooth connection on the Samsung Stunt? I do not have a USB cord for it and I am also not sure if they even make one for it.
I've just got a new SGS2. I've paired it with a VW Passat from 2011. Everything is working fine except transferring the contact list, only around half of the contacts get transferred -- 125 of 205. I can't find out why some contacts get transferred and others don't. Before I had a Palm Pre 2 and it worked just fine... all contacts would transfer perfectly.
I've unpair the connection several times in the Bluetooth settings, delete the connection in the car and pair again but didn't solve the problem. I've also update some of the key contacts that don't get synced, forced a reload of the contact list in the car menu but nothing works.
Since upgrading to ICS, connecting to my car stereo via bluetooth causes the phone to reboot itself. At first i thought it was just whilst streaming music was causing it as i could play 3 or 4 tracks before the phone just shuts down and reboots.
However, today i just had it connected for the phone function only and the same thing happened after 5 - 6 minutes.
The stereo is a Sony MEX-BT3900U which worked perfectly prior to the upgrade.
Carried out the upgrade using Odin3 v1.85 and flashed following one of the guides on the forum. Everthing else appears to be working fine and i quite like the new look etc, but if i can't find a solution to the phone rebooting itself think i will go back to GB.
I have successfully 'paired' my new S2 to my Ford Focus audio system, and it makes and receives phone calls fine - hands free. However - the current settings do not transfer my 'contacts' list to the car system. Every time I turn on the car ignition I get a little 'tune' from the phone, and a notification that says (something like) 'Ford audio would like to share your address book' and an option to 'OK' or cancel. If I click 'OK' my contacts are listed on the car system. There is also another window which says 'Do not ask again'Has anyone else had this issue - because I am getting fed up with having to allow the phone and car to share my contacts list every time I turn on the ignition.
I know this sounds strange but i travel alot and recently hotels sell Internet PER device, so when i get internet on my laptop i cant get it on iPhone or i have to pay for 2nd device, I was thinking is it POSSIBLE to get the internet on my iPhone and tether it with my laptop? this way when i am in my room i can use my laptop and when i am in lobby or at meetings my phone got the internet.
I bought a z2 a few weeks ago and really liked it, everything worked well, including tethering... but since the latest android update, the tethering has stopped working.
When trying to tether, my computer connects to the phone, but it says 'no internet connection'. I am on the 3 network and use tethering a LOT for work... I have checked all the settings on my phone and changed the APN type from ''default,supl,mms,a-gps' to 'internet+mms' as suggested here: [URL].....
But it made no difference. I dont know what else to try? It seems like there are a few others with the same issue. I am having to take the sim card out and put it in my old phone while at work so I can connect to the internet via tethering...
The XOOM 3G manual says that ts possible to use USB tethering for sharing your XOOM's 3G connection with the laptop. However, the XOOM doesn't have the option described in the manual! I'm running 3.2 on a non-US 3G XOOM.Well, you might wonder why I need USB tethering. So far, I've found that USB tethering provides better bandwidth than WIFI tethering.
I have a hard time tethering from XOOM to Laptop, after I reinstalled my Window VISTA laptop, and since I upgraded XOOM to 4G. I don't know whether it is 4G upgrade or VISTA that causes the problem. Sometime, it works the first attempt to connect, the other time i have to reboot my laptop a couple of times. My remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device driver is current. My Laptop saw XOOM drive fine no problem( I did installed Motorola Driver). And I attempted to do a soft reboot (Vol up + Power button), it shown the battery level and hung there for a long time (1 to 2 minutes maybe). I think i don't know how to do a soft reboot the right way. However, I can tether to my laptop, but i have to reboot my laptop a couple times. I did try to unplug and replug the USB cable and then set xoom to tethering/hot spot in both wifi and 3g/4g. It failed to connect unless I reboot the machine. My xoom is 3.2.2 with HLK75D build number.
I am currently using smg925i rom XtreStoLite. Mod to enable usb reverse tethering in s6 edge. I want to use my PC internet connection on my mobile. This feature was available in htc one m7 but missing in s6edge...
I have a Motorola RAZR international GSM version (XT910). It is an unlocked phone without any contract or carrier branding.
I seem to have issues whenever i try using my phone as a WiFi Hotspot. When the Hotspot is turned on the data connection drops. I have tried this while using the device as a hotspot for my iPad and/or my laptop. I'm able to browse normally when i'm directly browsing on the phone. But the moment i begin to use the phone as a WiFi Hotspot i see the data connection immediately getting terminated. Even the data toggle widget i have on my home screen gets toggled off automatically. It comes back up once the device i tether from stops trying to access the hotspot.
This is not a carrier limitation. I tried using the same SIM Card on 2 other unlocked phones (Xperia X10i and Galaxy S2) and they both tether just fine. I also contacted my carrier and had the network and APN settings reset while using the RAZR. That didn't seem to solve the issue either. I have tried every solution that i know of. I have even reset the phone to factory settings a couple of times. But nothing seems to work. There are no Smart Actions setup that conflict with the data connection. I'm totally clueless about what is causing this issue.
It is really frustrating to know that i am able to tether even on a two year old Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i that's running Android 2.3.3 but not on the brand new RAZR for which i had to pay around $700.
More details about the phone and software version i'm running on are-
System Version- 65.1.21.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03 Model Number- XT 910 Android Version- 2.3.5 Baseband Version- U_03.1C.85P Kernel Version- 18.104.22.168-gf61d3a8 a24124@zin22lnxdroid14#1 Build Number- 6.5.1_73-SPD-IRD-21
i have a xoom wifi/3g (not using a 3g plan) honeycomb up grade and i am having problems with bluetooth tethering. i am able to start the bluetooth tethering and everything works well fo r a little while. i am using my droid x2 and the sleep options are all off on noth my xoom and droid x 2. The bt connection does not drop but the bt tethering does eventhough the device bt tool box is saying the device i can unpair and pair again and the bt internet does not work. the only way it comes back is if i reboot the xoom which sucks.
Okay, so it is a bit ironic that I am posting this question, as I have been helping others here on CB with BT/USB tethering for quite some time now. However, it looks as if the tables have turned!
Like many have reported over the past few months, Sprint has finally turned off the "back-door" free tethering connection that has been working for many years via BT and USB for many, many people. Over the years, I have activated and deactivated the "phone as modem" add-on several times, usually only when needed. Just last week, I called into CS and had them flip the switch ON.
My Tour was already setup for BT modem, and connected just fine, and since I turned it on, I have used the service many times. HOWEVER - just the other day, I tried to connect and my Tour's screen flashed white, and said "Connecting to desktop". I could not exit out of this screen, and also could not connect to the phone via BT to use as a modem. The blue BT light was flickering, and the computer was trying to connect for about 30 seconds, before failing - and once failed, the white screen went away, and the home screen reappeared.
I have NEVER seen this screen before - not even when connecting the phone via USB to the DM in either Windows or Mac. I am not sure what has happened since last week. I have not installed a new OS, nor have I changed any settings on the phone or in DM. Very odd!
I would appreciate any help or insight into this matter. I have already tried pairing the phone with the computer again - but still every time I go to connect via BT, the phone is now displaying the "Connecting to desktop" message with a white background. So weird! I am using Snow Leopard with a hybrid OS. Neither one of these factors should be the root of any issue - as I said earlier, just last week things were working fine - and I have made NO changes whatsoever since.
Only new apps downloaded since have been Bold, Opera, and QuickPull - however, I cannot imagine any of these apps to be interfering with tethering. I have tried battery pulls, and reconfiguring bluetooth settings - all to no avail.
I have just updated my phone's firmware to version 4.1.B. The updating went on well. After updating I turned on my phone and it started optimizing with my apps and that went well too. Then I was browsing through my phone's settings option and went to tethering and wifi hotspot option and turned on the bluetooth tethering. After that my phone rebooted and it keeps on rebooting on itself. It wont connect to my PC. I tried removing the battery but when I turn it on its the same thing.
I have a tethering plan with my blackberry. I would like to tether my xoom wifi to my blackberry phone via bluetooth. Im able to do this with my laptop with no issues. I purchased the WIFI version with the idea of being able to use tethering while away from usable wifi.
I have a portable device (Archos 5 UInternet Tablet) that uses the Android operating system.I want to tether the blackberry and use it as a modem via a Bluetooth connection. I've been onto the BB site and the instructions there speak only of Windows and Mac operating systems. I can pair the BB to the Archos but it won't connect and the Archos reports that the BB will not support tethering. Can anyone help me fix this?
I currently have ATT cellular service and I am currently using the Samsung SGH A707 Sync. I plan to tether to my laptop and would like to get the $15(200 Meg) or $25 (2GB) data plan. I have previously used the unlimited data plan and tethered to a LG CU500 about two years ago.I recalled setting up the dialup connection (via Bluetooth) with username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password: CINGULAR1 and dialed *99# Are those parameters the same now if I use the A707 sync? Or did ATT changed those parameters already?I have also noticed that the A707 Sync has a different connections setting than what I used previously on the LG CU500. There are FOUR types of connections setting in the A707 Sync. They seem to have been preset. Here are the connections settings: 1. MEdia Net wap1.X wap.cingular Auth Type: Secure WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1) Protocol: WAP Gateway address: 22.214.171.124 2. MEdia Net wap2.x wap.cingular Auth Type: Secure WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1) Protocol: HTTP Proxy address: wireless.cingular.com:80 3. AT&T MMS wap.cingular Auth Type: Secure WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password: ********* (presumably CINGULAR1) Protocol: HTTP Proxy address: wireless.cingular.com:80 4. AT&T IMS ims.cingular Auth Type: Normal Protocol: HTTP Proxy address: 0.0.0.0:80 What are the differences between the settings and which of the four would the appropriate connection setting for tethering to the laptop?Lastly, my main task would be somewhat routine (checking email/check ebay item/bank account/paying bill) using the data plan probably around 3 times a day for no more than 5-10 min. Should I get the $15 or $25 data plan?
I thought it would be useful to make a bug list, that way anyone with a specific problem can come here to see if it's common and if there's any workarounds."Wi-Fi Sharing" process activated when tethering not enabled..Problem description: When using my phone earlier when connected to wifi, my battery went down very fast. Looked in the battery monitor, and it showed that the "Wi-fi sharing" process was using more power than the screen (which is unusual) - it used about 10% in half an hour. I also noticed my phone had clocked up to 1.2ghz and was getting pretty hot. I force stopped the process, and the CPU clocked back down to 200mhz.
Reproducing the problem: It appears to happen if you've enabled or configured tethering once. When it happens to me, it happens if I disable then enable wifi. It may or may not be specific to the type of wifi network you connect to.Root your phone and freeze "Wi-Fi sharing" in Titanium Backup. This will not effect Kies air or anything, though could effect tethering. If your tethering no longer works after freezing this application, defrost it to restore tethering functionality. Most people are saying this, and another wifi drain issue, have been fixed in the latest firmware(s).Potential issues when restoring settings from a rooted phone to a non rooted SGS II via Google.I did have a little problem here and there when I first got my SGSII. When I setup the google account, I chose to allow google to restore my settings. It is pretty cool as it restored all the apps I had with my old SGS but I suspect some of the apps I had is for the custom rom only hence I had problem everywhere with the new SGSII. I then did a factory reset and setup without the restore bit and since then I havn't had a single problem yet.My phone came with XWKDD and I heard something about this firmware has fixes to the previous ones, so it might worth upgrade your firmware if you are ok with Odin So my suggestions to you is, do a factory reset and rebuild your phone from scratch without restoring, if problem still exists, consider a firmware update.
I have had my SG2 (On three with "all you can eat data") for about two weeks and the last week I keep getting a tethering block, several times a day, when using internet or network error while using apps. this can only be fixed by rebooting the phone. I have not used the phone for tethering or as a wifi hot spot so don't know why its doing it. I have replaced the sim card and done a factory reset on the phone but it is still doing it. When I get the error in the internet app there's a link to the three website which does work.
I've had problems connecting to any blue tooth aparatus. I've tried with a couple of headsets and then this week I had a problem connecting to the bluetooth in the Sonata I rented. The bluetooth will connect but almost immediately drop the bluetooth connection.
I read about apps that allow tethering of other devices without the additional tethering plans... foxfi was one that was suggested... however, I don't think it is working on the S6. Any app that works?
My phone connects to the Bluetooth in my e46 M3 ('05) fine but as soon as it rings and I answer the call (pressing call button in car) the phone takes over rather than the in-car Bluetooth. It shows a dot next to the Bluetooth in-car when the call comes in on the phone.
I bought new phone Nokia C7 with Anna software and I have a problem with pairing with my car (Bluetooth device Parrot CK3000 Evo). I think that the problem is with phone, because when I paired devices all things work well, but when I turn off the car (Parrot is switched off) and go away, other phones that I previously used disabled connection and can be used normally. But with this phone I see that for the phone connection still present (?!?) The car symbol on display still shown, and when I try to use the phone, I can make call, other people say that they receive calling , but I can't hear them, and they can't hear me. When I manually disconnect Bluetooth device, phone work normally, but when I am in the car again, two devices doesn't initiate pairing, and again I have to do this manually.
I've recently upgrade the software on my BOLD 9700 bundle 2475 (v126.96.36.1996, Platform 6.6.0207). Since the upgrade my handset will not connect to my Ford Mondeo car kit. I've deleted the pairing on both handset and car kit a number of times - it works the first time I get in the car but after this I just get an error message "connection failed". The car kit works fine with other members of our family mobile phones - toggling between handset and connecting everytime. I've even tried deleting the other phones from the car kit - still it will not connect. I've even rebooted the car system just in case there was a problem with the carkit. The only way I can get the handset to connect is by switching my phone off and turning it back on once the engine is running. it worked fine prior to the upgrade...
My BB 9700 cnnected fine with my handsfree carkit when I used OS5. After going to OS6 the connection with my carkit always gave troubles. I've experienced that after a reload of the OS (battery out and in again) the conection works fine one time. After disconnection it will not work again, only after reload of OS (battery out and in) it works again for one time. This must be a bug in OS6.
I have a new Nokia X6 and can not connect it via Bluetooth to any of my PCs, the previous Nokia 6300 did with no flaws whatsoever, this X6 is by far a better phone but can not even be detected by a PC.......Am I missing something ? (see attached for error message)
