Samsung Galaxy S II :: Keeps Switching Itself Off, 2-3 Times Per Day?
May 3, 2012
it seems to happen since upgrade to ICS. Takes ages to get it to restart, (time finger spent on power button) ICS has so far, been more trouble than its worth..
My phone as recently started switching itself off for no reason.Sometimes it boots itself back on and other times it just stays off.I've tried doing a software upgrade on Keis but have had no joy.
I bought my Galaxy S2 on the 21st of July from Carphone Warehouse on a new contract (Panther 30). I've been with Orange for a few years now but it was time for an upgrade.Ever since I've had the phone, I recieve duplicate txt messages from anyone who txts me. It could be Iphone users, Blackberry users, other networks, you name it. I even get multiple txt messages from competetions (you know, when you try win all that gear on The Gadget Show and they send a conformation txt acknowledging your entry). I can recieve up to 5-6 of the same txt message throughout the day (they usually come in quite quickly) and I can even get them days after me first recieveing the original.I went back to Carphone Warehouse for their help but they suggested I rang Orange first to find out if it was a network problem or handset issue.Orange were useless at first but then I got through to technical support team 2. An action was opened and so we tried different solutions.
1. Factory reset of the handset. Didn't work.
2. Put my SIM card into another phone (Samsung D500). Suprisingly this worked and I didn't recieve any duplicates the whole day, which indicated it was indeed a handset problem. We agreed that I should go back to Carphone Warehouse and get a new handset but if the problem continued then I should get back in contact with the same chap in techincal support team 2.
3. Went off to Carphone Warehouse. Got the new handset. Unfortunatly the problem remained. It actually got much worse!
4. Got back in contact with the chap at Orange and he could see on his system that there were error codes and that the recieved txt messages weren't recognized at being recieved, therefore would be sent again and again. All the information we had was sent off the tech boffins at Orange to see if they could think of a solution.
5. Finally Orange came back with an answer, which was that I should try a new SIM card (register it and everything). So they sent one, which has only arrived this morning (took 8days). I've recieved the Orange txt that should come within 24hours and then deleted it and turned the phone off. BUT NO! This hasn't worked either. I've already recieved duplicate txt messages from someone. Three of one, and two of another txt.
I usually have 3bars to full signal where I am so it's not as though poor signal is causing this. Everyone else in the house is on Orange too and doesn't have this same problem. I never did either on my old Nokia 5800. It doesn't just happen at home though. I could be anywhere.
Signal strength (right now), -83dBm 15asu Mobile network, GPRS (there is no 3G around us so I turned it off). Model number, GT-I9100 Android version, 2.3.3 Baseband version, I9100XXKE4 Kernel version, 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE7-CL215725root@DELL103 #2 Build number GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
My phone says its has the following - ndroid version: 2.3.3Baseband version: I9100BUKG1Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100BUKG2-CL342890 root@DELL102 #2Build number: GINGERBREAD.BUKG2ies says may phone has the latest firmware (Kies also updated) but since I updated the phone about 3 weeks ago it keeps restart (as if powered off/on) at various times (during calls, internet access, running apps). Went into my local VF shop and they said to check there has not been a never firmware update but Kies finds nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this?
i have had my samsung slyde for not even i year and i have taken it in three times for repairs with the software crashing, another girl there has the same phone and was taken it in for the same problems. has anyone else had the same problem?
I just want to ask you guys regarding my new phone Samsung Corby GT-S3653. When I was able to purchase this phone it seems to be fine. After I realize that when I was able to text to my girlfriend, it seems that her messages or her reply could not easily sent. It takes almost 15 minutes then all her txt will pop out. I mean it. All of it like 18 message or more and what worst is that same message only. When I ask her how many times you send this message, she said 1 time only. It never happens once only but it happens everyday. I already check the settings but there's no problem with it. At first I thought it was just a network error or something to do with network but when my girlfriend decide to change phone with me and with different SIM card, the problem is still arising and it is confirm its not something to do with the network. Its something to do with the unit. Email me if u have info at gelxsbaldoman@yahoo.com
Or do I have a defective device? It's been like this since launch day, I just figured there were some bugs in the software they had to iron out, but it's not getting better only worse. I figured this would be a big news story if it was a widespread problem, but I haven't heard anything. I can't even use my phone as an alarm anymore because it will also randomly turn itself off in the night. I've been late to work twice now because of that.
I have a bluetooth enabled head unit in my car, and was wondering if i could programme the bloetooth to come on when it detects that bluetooth network?
I notice sometimes that my phone doesnt respond to my touch, its not lag, its just you press on something and nothing happens....its happens about one or two times a day...its not that big of a deal...but its a bit annoying...
I have resisted getting a smartphone for years. I use the phone for calls and texts and didn't need anything else. But finally, I had to join the new world. Now, I have a work phone that is an iPhone and I haven't really got on with that. One of the problems is that it arbitrarily switches on the voice function or phones someone or switches on music. This is just as it moves around. Drives me nuts!
So I finally bought a Galaxy S5 and I am trying to get used to the size and I am loving the phone and it is all good. Until this morning, when my brand new Galaxy switched the music on by itself. I am so unhappy I can't even say how much. I was so looking forward to having this fab new phone and now I don't know what to do. Do I honestly have to leave the phone at home on a flat surface, because if I put it in my pocket and so much as move a little, then it will simply switch itself on?
I will have to admit that I am using the iPhone earphones because my ear shape simply cannot take the Samsung ones and I can't currently afford to get Bose earbuds.
I have started getting a problem with the auto brightness switching itself off.
I keep switching it back on and then after a periods of time... Can't be specific but when I come out of an app or having been watching a video and go back to the homescreen it's really bright and the auto setting is off again.
Picked up my S6 almost 2 weeks ago and the AC app crashes on me several times a day. This never happened with my old Droid DNA. Clearing the app data didn't work, neither did reinstalling.
Issue I'm having with WiFi. When I disable it, the first time it turns itself back on. When I disable it a second time again right away it stays off, any way to keep it off the first time? Sprint GS6.
My s5 sometimes shows the right time and sometimes doesn't following Daylight Savings (sometimes it's an hour off). I keep having to restart the device, which fixes things in the short term. But, my alarms go off and then go off again an hour later. This is getting really tiresome! It's set to auto date/time/time zone, so I don't understand why it keeps showing the wrong time.
So I'm on sprint and my s5 will switch the time forward 2 hours every day at random times of the day. I have tried manually setting my time but then my text messages get weird time stamps and don't come in correctly . The only solution I have found is resetting the phone but that's annoying and time consuming.
The last time I synced with Outlook, a lot of the same contacts came up multiple times -- around 50+ times each. Seems the only way to delete them is individually. I would like to know the following: 1) is there a way to do multiple deletes and 2) what made this happen.
Earlier this week I updated my edge to 5.1.1. Ever since I randomly get the error message "unfortunately hangouts has stopped". I have never used hangouts and it has been disabled since the day I got my phone. I tried clearing the cache and it still happens. I use the stock texting app and have never even looked at hangouts. I tried to diagnose what was causing this, but it happens at random times.
My contact app crashes multiple times a day, so essentially I have no contacts. If someone calls or text they are recognized but nothing is in the app if it decides to open. Also my visual voice-mail craps out when trying to open it. All of this since the t-mobile 5.1.1 update..
Is there an app or a built in function of the S6 that allows saving and switching how widgets and folders are arranged on the home screen? Some of the widgets and apps/folders I use during the working week are not relevant during the weekend. Is there a quick way of switching between work mode and weekend mode without having to manually delete and re-arrange widgets and apps/folders on the home screen?
I have a 2016 tacoma and a s6 edge. When I stream my Bluetooth music it's good. But when I go to am or fm and come back to Bluetooth, it starts the song at the beginning again. Doesn't auto pause like it always has. In my old truck it worked fine. This is a new truck. I tried an old iPhone and it worked fine. I tried the Google play music app and it worked for a bit and it stopped with that too. Not sure if it's my truck or my phone.
