Samsung Galaxy S II :: Icon Text Removal?
Jun 7, 2011Is there any way to remove text from icons. Most of the time I know what the icons represent, so the text is largely irrelevant.

I have to click on it for each message that goes out. Is there any possible way to change the limit? I know you used to be able to set it to anything you want in settings/security but it's not there anymore.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI now have a S6 and so far it is not rooted. The one thing I miss a lot is the ability to "completely" remove all ads. AdAway does a great job but you need to be rooted to use it. Ad Blocker tries but does not get all the ads . Of all the things I miss by not rooting this is at the top of my list.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just got the new fantastic Galaxy S2. One, admittedly very small, gripe is in the Maps App that comes with the phone. When the GPS is on, and the blue arrow is pointing where I am, above the arrow is my gmail icon inside a blue square. Is there any way to remove this?!? It's a massive square on the phone that really doesn't need to be there. I know who I am! And the blue arrow is enough.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my first ever samsung phone the other day and I notice the text message notification icon looks 100% identical to the email notification icon. This is extremely annoying to me, can that be changed? I'd prefer to be able to tell those apart when glancing at notifications.
edit: using nova launcher atm but can't seem to find a setting to change this in nova or touchwiz.
I just got the s2, and i have 4 email accounts (2 work, 1 hotmail, 1 gmail). I have them configured and working, but they are all under the standard mail app (white envelop with blue @). When I get a new message, this icon will show how many unread messages there are. But, it shows for all of my accounts. I'm trying to have separate apps/icons for each email address that'll show some type of "unread messages" notification on the icon itself. Came from a blackberry and i had 4 individual accounts setup, each would have a red star if there was an unread msg in that account. I tried the hotmail and the gmail apps but they don't seem to show anything like this either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy S2 is only about four or five months old and I recently started noticing that it is not alerting on text messages anymore. I checked the settings and the obvious stuff such as the volume being on and a ringtone for text notification is set. I just went to unlock my phone and I noticed that the phone did not play the click or pop noise as I hit the keys to unlock the phone. Again, the volume was on....maybe this is a larger issue...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've managed to browse to an online forum (using the Google Search widget, I think!) on my phone - most things work fine, but if I hit "reply" to a forum post the text-box opens, and it even establishes a cursor in there - but my phone's keyboard does not pop up like it usually does if one clicks in a text-box. So I cant insert any text Insert text in forum box? It's a board based forum powered by Moodle, if that makes any difference?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI sent an SMS text message to someone yesterday from the default Messaging app and could thereafter see it sitting there in the "Conversations" list. My phone then ran out of battery and turned itself off overnight after which I've since given it a full recharge. However, that text message I sent has now disappeared from the conversations list and although I can see the start of it under the contact's name in the Contacts app, it responds by telling me it's been deleted when I try to select it. I did see an option in the settings to "Delete Old Messages" which was enabled but given that I had a total of 1 text message on the phone then I assume that was not the culprit.

View 4 Replies View Relatedjust like to say that this is my very first post in this forum. I have been the proud owner of my Samsung Galaxy S II for the past week now. Couple of things to ask that is annoying me a bit though, and just wondering if there's a solution to these. Consider these scenarios:
First one: I receive a text from a friend who says that he has a new number. Because he's in my contacts, I can simply add his number to it. So I open the text, I press the menu key and tap "Add to Contacts". I then find him and tap his name. Usually it appears underneath the rest of the numbers, but because he has Facebook and I've selected to have my friends from there appear in my contacts, it doesn't. Apart from manually typing it in myself, is there a way to add his number?
Secondly: I play some music using the built-in music player (Applications > Music). Once the track starts playing, I press the back button continuously until I reach the home page/idle screen. To go back into it quickly, I pull down the status bar down from the top, and tap the Music panel. From here, how can I go back to a previous screen within the Music player to select a playlist, switch to a new artist, etc? The back button this time returns you to the home/idle screen. The list button just shows the current playlist that is being played. What would be good is to see that scrolling menu at the top again.
I had some GSYNC APP, but it kept timing out.... MOBILEDIT claim when you buy it, you get the phone copier included and it can do this..

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an unrooted S2 running Android v2.3.4, which I connect to my PC using USB debugging off.I do this because I have the Widgetsoid app installed, and use it for one-click USB mass storage access on my PC when the phone is connected.when I connect via USB however (through Widgetsoid or the "clean" way though the Wireless Settings), my home screen seems to refresh, and the Social Hub icon I have at the bottom of the screen (along with Applications, Call and Contacts) vanishes. This happens every time I mount the mass storage, meaning I have to go into the application menu to drag it back into the tray and save it again, but the same repeats each time.
