My husband has 2 blackberry. One is active and the other non-active. Both are from verizon and the non-active bb is the world edition. I saw a sim card in it. can he still ask for sim unlock code for the non-active bb so that in case we travel to asia, we can buy a local sim card and use it? Is he still consider a verizon customer even though the one that he wants to unlock is a non-active bb.

The world edition purchased years ago came unlocked from Bell. It has served me well in India and other countries in that a local simm card could be used to reduce roaming charges. Recently in Africa I had no service. It also prompted to insert a simm card. The moment I returned to Toronto I had full service again. Would an operating system update fix this new bug ? If so, is where can I download the fix?

I just switched from a Motorola Droid to a Droid X2. However, the lock screen is giving me issues. If I turn on pattern lock, it still leaves the slide lock activated. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an app, Activity Classifier, that uses the handset accelerometers to provide information on activities and total exercise. It automates exercise tracking, classifies activities by type and quantifies aerobic intensity. Live data streamed from an Xperia Arc using the app is displayed in a blog. While it is possible to use on the Active it is unfortunately more difficult on the Active than the Arc because the Active accelerometers have a fault that is hard to get around. The problem is that the accelerometers sometimes take quite a while to start sampling when either started or the sampling frequency is changed.Occasionally it can take longer than 90 seconds. The problem can be seen with the app Accelerometer Frequency. Switch between sampling frequencies and notice that sometimes it switches instantly and sometimes it doesn't. To minimise battery consumption Activity Classifier acquires data from the accelerometers for 6 seconds out of every 30. If no other app is using the accelerometers they will start and stop every sampling period. On the Active they frequently don't start and the app detects a faulty accelerometer. The app has an option to keep accelerometers on and if this is selected it will work OK but battery consumption goes up a lot. The Active comes with a pedometer app called Walkmate. I can see from the Accelerometer Frequency app that Walkmate keeps the acclerometers running at 50 Hz and running Walkmate at the same time as Activity Classifier will make Activity Classifier work OK as well. Walkmate seems pretty power efficient and uses less than half the power of the market leading pedometer app Accupedo, run in power balanced mode, but it counts a different number of steps.

View 2 Replies View Relatedyesterday out of the blue the display on my active stopped working. i connected it to the pc and did a reset/reinstalled the firmware but still no display.i can play music using the original headphones and the headset controls and the home/menu/back buttons light up when i press the unlock key but that's about it.oh yes and i think i managed to unlock the screen even though it was totally back as i could could play/pause music and skip tracks using the screen controls (pressing where i guessed the music controls were).

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I woke up this morning my phone was turned off so I try to turn it on by holding the power button, it only flashes the LED (red) 3 times between short pauses, no vibrations then stays turned off.Next, I tried to plug the charger in then holding the power button. still the same symptoms as above.Lastly, I tried plugging the charger / connector to my laptop then plugging the phone in. When I did that, the red LED shows 1 blink on intervals as opposed from the 3 blinks above.I know I still have my warranty but I want at least try and fix it because I don't like going out on weekends (the days of the week where I get to rest) so I'd rather try a fix here at home.

2. Handy set to "visible to evrybody"
3. Headset ist checked and working (functening with my notebook !)

For example i could easily set it up to use Russian everywhere in the menus and whatnot. But on family edition the choice is very trimmed. How can add full russian localization to it?

I'm looking at buying the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Unlocked Phone and have a couple of questions.
If I don't activate the phone immediately with a service provider,
- will I still be able to have full access to the internet and email whenever a Wi-Fi network is available?
- and, will I also have full access to the GPS navigation facilities of the unit?
Does the 5800 Navigation model lack any features that are available with the 5800 XpressMusic model? The 'compare' function at the Nokia website seems to show the exact same specs for both models.
I havent found any settings to adjust the brighness of the display in my new Nokia 2710. But the manual says that i should reduce the brightness if i wanted to save battery power. Did i miss something? I think its just not implemented! Thats very disappointing, since the dispaly is too bright to use it as a navigation device at night in the car.
