May 22, 2012Led on, camera sound goes and then the screen goes blank and unresponsive. Battery needs to come out before the phone will turn on again!

Xperia Active :: Exercise Tracking Difficult Because Active Accelerometers Fail Intermittently?
Dec 31, 2011I have an app, Activity Classifier, that uses the handset accelerometers to provide information on activities and total exercise. It automates exercise tracking, classifies activities by type and quantifies aerobic intensity. Live data streamed from an Xperia Arc using the app is displayed in a blog. While it is possible to use on the Active it is unfortunately more difficult on the Active than the Arc because the Active accelerometers have a fault that is hard to get around. The problem is that the accelerometers sometimes take quite a while to start sampling when either started or the sampling frequency is changed.Occasionally it can take longer than 90 seconds. The problem can be seen with the app Accelerometer Frequency. Switch between sampling frequencies and notice that sometimes it switches instantly and sometimes it doesn't. To minimise battery consumption Activity Classifier acquires data from the accelerometers for 6 seconds out of every 30. If no other app is using the accelerometers they will start and stop every sampling period. On the Active they frequently don't start and the app detects a faulty accelerometer. The app has an option to keep accelerometers on and if this is selected it will work OK but battery consumption goes up a lot. The Active comes with a pedometer app called Walkmate. I can see from the Accelerometer Frequency app that Walkmate keeps the acclerometers running at 50 Hz and running Walkmate at the same time as Activity Classifier will make Activity Classifier work OK as well. Walkmate seems pretty power efficient and uses less than half the power of the market leading pedometer app Accupedo, run in power balanced mode, but it counts a different number of steps.

Feb 13, 2012yesterday out of the blue the display on my active stopped working. i connected it to the pc and did a reset/reinstalled the firmware but still no display.i can play music using the original headphones and the headset controls and the home/menu/back buttons light up when i press the unlock key but that's about it.oh yes and i think i managed to unlock the screen even though it was totally back as i could could play/pause music and skip tracks using the screen controls (pressing where i guessed the music controls were).

Apr 13, 2012When I woke up this morning my phone was turned off so I try to turn it on by holding the power button, it only flashes the LED (red) 3 times between short pauses, no vibrations then stays turned off.Next, I tried to plug the charger in then holding the power button. still the same symptoms as above.Lastly, I tried plugging the charger / connector to my laptop then plugging the phone in. When I did that, the red LED shows 1 blink on intervals as opposed from the 3 blinks above.I know I still have my warranty but I want at least try and fix it because I don't like going out on weekends (the days of the week where I get to rest) so I'd rather try a fix here at home.

May 6, 2012After taking a picture, I want to share it. Thorugh FB is fine, e-mailing also. But sharing it on my blog doesn't work. When I try to (share -> Blogger), it says "No blogs found". I get "please create a blog on www.blogger.com" or the alternatives Go to Blogger/Switch account/Close.
If I //go to Blogger//, I have to sign in (which works fine), but then I'm in a list choosing between my blogs and can constinue to blog directly in my browser. That's not what I want to do...
If I //switch account//, I have my google-account chosen for me. Since I log on thourgh my hotmail-address, I go to -> manage accounts, where my FB-account is linked to my hotmail address. There I only get the option to create a new one or to delete an account. If I instead leave the chosen google-account, well... nothing happens.

May 1, 2014I experienced freezing while shooting HDR+ after the initial update, but after un/reinstalling the Google Camera, it seemed fine for a couple of weeks, but the problem has returned with a vengeance. I cannot shoot anything in HDR+ without the camera and phone freezing.
Regular photos snap fine, but when shooting HDR+, the progress indicated gets to about 2 o'clock and then image totally freezes. After a few seconds, it will close and pop up a crash box offering to report or acknowledge with OK. (I've reported it.) Sometimes it will put up a notification that "HDR+ photos are processing in the background, but if you tap that it takes you into the Photos app and there's nothing there and then the whole phone freezes. Yesterday, I noticed the GPS stuck on (was in a basement) at the same time and had to reboot the phone.
I un/reinstalled the update again yesterday and HDR+ worked for a couple of shots, but today it froze again. This is clearly an unacceptable way to manage the problem. I'm tired of missing pictures because the camera app crashes. I was at a major event last week and had Camera crash on launch for the first time. Fortunately, I was able to quickly reboot before snapping a group shot, but if I hadn't noticed beforehand, I would've had a crowd looking at me while I frantically restarted my phone because of a buggy basic app.
Rooted, stock Nexus 5, Android 4.4.2, faux123 kernel (to try and fight the terrible battery life), no GravityBox things which I've seen mentioned as possible causes.

One of them has suddently stopped charging - when the charger is plugged in the phone shows no sign of receiving external power, the battery just fades out and dies. May 3, 2012Other people say they cant hear me, that im quiet. I did microphone test and yes the voice is quite, but other sounds like wind or touch is double the volume of my voice, i had this problem earlier, but it dissapeared after vacuming the mic, but now it appeared again. Is there any way i can boost mic volume. Phone aint phone if im unhearable. I dont understand why the mic is located so deep, the hole is big and nice place for dust to sit in. And dont tell me to repair the phone through pcc or sus, u know it aint gona work.Just blowed hard in it, i think it got better but still i know its gona f up soon anyway cuz of failure design.So my question is there a way to boost mic volume, any app or something.

Dec 4, 2011I did the update to 4.0.2.A.0.42 yesterday, not sure what I was on before.I am now having gps issues, I get an inital fix OK but I am not getting continuas updates.It's not a bug in my IpBike App I am seeing the same behaivure with the standard google maps app and a couple of other apps I have tried.I have also checked my app on an old X8 and it's working ok there still.I have done a restart of the phone but that made no difference.The GPS itself is working OK, if I start and stop the mapping apps they get a good quick inital fix but they don't contunue to get updates.Looking in the Logcat there is nothing obviously wrong.Is there any way of going back to the previous software version?

Jan 31, 2012This morning there was an software update on my xperia active, i clicked ok and it failed to download a couple of times, i figured maybe because i was downloading via wi-fi. i finaly downloaded it and then when finished it started to instal. after that my phone went into a "coma" it is non responsive, the only two vague signs of life is when i conected it to my PC and the little green light on the upper left of the screen lite up. but then the PC keeps making the plug-in plug-out sound and nothing happends, the other is when i press the on button on the phone that same green light flashes for a spit of a second and does not show up again. i've downloade SEUS and PCC tried to up date in both of them to update first and then to original setting and nothing, also tried the rapair, under softwear updates and nothing it takes for ever and and twice frozze in mid process.

Jun 27, 2012When I plug my Xperia Mini Pro to the computer and synch it with the PC companion; it tells me there is a update ready to be downloaded to the phone. When I follow step, ie read the changes etc then proceed to dowmload update; it oes all fine to star with nd it starts downloading then all of the sudden it "jumps" ahead and goes over to error message to say "Error in dowloading". I have tried alot of times so it was not just a one off. I both rebooted computer & restarted the phones and tried again. Still same msg. No location data at all.I now realize that this is the first time I have tried GPS since the update and repeated tries with GPS Test and Maps shows no location.
