How can I determine which application or data is using storage memory? There are no movies, music or other "big" files copied to the phone (as far as I know). The only thing I know is "maps". From my experience with E90 and E71 all available maps need about 8GB space, this should fit to a E7 with 16GB

I have problem when i wish to format mass memory on my n95 8gb.I uninstall all applications from mobile so app manager is totaly ampty, Nothing is inside...Problem start when i wish to format mass memory using phone. There is worrning, that some application is still runing ?! and asq me am i shure. And it format it. I don`t like that advisory, and wish that he format mass memory without that. 1. hard reset my phone
2. reinstaling the firmware (it is 35.0.001)
3. i tray to format it on my pc wit quick format
4. normal format.
But in bouth case, when i formated mass memory on my pc (windows 7), and tray to format it again using my phone, first time is ok without any warning about runing application. Second time there is warning.
I think my N97 is playing up. I cant take photos as it says my E drive is full which is nonsense as I only had 5 pics on there no music or video!. When I went to file manager it wont let me access the mass memory as it says "memory in use". I thought if I synced it up to my Mac i could somehow get into the E drive and see what the problem is but low and behold its not compatible. I've had a look on here for Mac versions and theres lots of people talking about it but no links or descriptions as to where I might find it!. I sync is useless as this just does calendar and notes. I need something that will let me access everything on my phone.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy mass memory is showing that it is in use even when it is not connected to any device or gadget, It all happened when I formatted my Mass Memory via PC in mass storage mode !!Format was successful but when I ejected 701 from PC the Default file manager was still showing that the mass memory is in Use. A restart of both fixed it on all occasions, now even that doesn't work.It shows up in My Computer but when I try to open it my PC tells me to insert a disk into drive I.It has worked without fail in the past , because my AV software used to flash up a warning that Autorun has been disabled for that device.

I have added very little but have moved a lot of folders around to organise them better for an audio player and deleted many large folders at the same time, so it should not be full.When I look in File Manager on the phone it says there are 26.4GB free.As a test I deleted another large folder. The free memory according to the phone increased accordingly but the used memory in the PC Suite stayed the same.Surely it does not keep copies in all the previous locations or in some sort of Recycle Bin? View 3 Replies View RelatedHere what I done since the begging of the problem: when I first use, everything was ok (at least to me). One day without remembering to disconnect the device from Windows XP Sp2, I disconnected the USB cable to aswer a call (it was in mass storage mode).
After that don't remember exactly how but a few minutes laters after reboot the n900 some widgets disappeared from desktop. So I added them one more time but they won't come to desktop... I repeated many times the adding and after that the N900 gone crazy. Some applications still works but others didn't show the icon program on the menu, only the name under the icon appear, and when i tried to execute one of them the screen returned to desktop with all the widgets that first didn't show and the device reboot alone.
So I decided to flash and I followed every single step (that I found in a thread wrote by adamf) to flash maemo on N900 and I did it. But when I try to erase mass memory, the dots on the N900 screen stopped move and in the DOS windows there was: "suitable USB device not found, waiting". The N900 seems freezed. After 30 minutes I disconnected the USB cable and turned ON the device and it is OK. Well, all data is still there. Do I need to reset mass memory to erase the programs downloaded from the application catalogues? Flashing maemo doesn't do that?
Tried two times but the same thing happens and I quitted. I started to use the device and it works fine but I can't install some applications that first I had installed, like bounce evolution, APP widget, facebook widget (impossible installing error). But forecast weather and other widgets works... I can't understand why. Tried also other flasher like Global (first I have intalled Middle East) but I have the same error...
New E7, latest firmware, my first day of playing. Loaded about 7G of music on to the mass memory. Mass still had 7.2G free. Then I deleted the music files, however I still have only 7.2G free, according to both the File Manager on the E7, and to the MAC I connect via USB. Cannot see anything which is using much memory at all. I wonder if there is a hidden trash file? Also, is there a way to see file and directory sizes using File Manager? Very nice phone, but a bit of a learning curve - trying to wean myself off a Psion 5mx and a 10yo Nokia 6210.

I connect it using PC Companion, it says my phone has 0 bytes memory left, I deleted some stuff and same. No matter what I do I have 0 bytes free left in my phone, so I can't update my phone, and so I can't get rid of the stupid notification in the phone as well.
2) I tried to backup my photos from the phone, opened "File Manager" via PC Companion, looked into the "Pictures" folder but it's only showing 2% of all my photos in the phone. Clicked on literally every single folders and still can't find the first of the pictures.
I've tried everything I can think of including a hard reset (volume down, camera, menu and power) and re-flashing with Ovi-Suite. And I still can't access the mass memory. It won't show in windows and if anything tries to write to the mass memory it will throw up the error 'mass memory in use'.
