Nokia :: N97 - Gps Tracking
Mar 14, 2010
I wanted a program that will track a gps route (store the coordinates) that I can then use later in other software on my pc. I have an n97 mini. Is there any programs that do this? I tried Sports Tracker Pro but it didn't seem to work on the n97.

Several mobile operating systems have become a problem when concerned with users' privacy. iPhone apps send information back to media analysis companies, including users' location and personal details; Web OS sends user information and location back to Palm; and Android, well - it's so tied up with Google that you just can't ignore the possible privacy implications.Which leaves us, for a smartphone, with Blackberry and Symbian (considering Maemo isn't available in my area and Bada isn't out yet).Is there any sort of user tracking, data collection or privacy violation in the Symbian platform that you are aware of, by Nokia or by 3rd party software developers?

When I launch Maps and press the circle button to zoom to my location, it will do so. It finds me within a few hundred feet. After this point, it has no idea where I am. The dot representing me on the maps will vanish, and if I press the locate button again, it will pop somewhere else within a couple of miles of me, and then realize that isn't right, and not change the circle locator button to green, or show a dot on the screen. I can press the locate button again and have this happen continuously. When using Nokia Drive Beta, it will use my correct location to plot a course, but then not follow me at all, so it constantly displays the first direction. It, too, seems to have no clue where I am.My commute takes me through country, city, and suburbs. I've tried placing the phone on the dash, in the cupholder, and just holding it. Previous phones (iPhone, android) have not had this issue over the same commute.

I have UPS tracking from AT&T and I'm curious how many are getting their phones via UPS rather than Fed Ex? I've only ever gotten them Fed Ex from Apple/AT&T before, so this is new.

But Ive just started using an app to track my bike rides. I just start the app, throw my phone in my bag and forget about it till I get home. I've been turning off 3g as the gps alone is a battery hog, however does the 3g signal aid the gps using triangulation or something?

recently acquired a BB Curve 9300 with GPS function.I have subscribed to a BIS plan with the operator TMN in Portugal.I wonder if there is any option for when use GPS navigation, we view the "movement" on the map, is that the map does not follow the set route and we always have to use the track to track.

I have been wondering why my Fedex tracking number provided by AT&T isn't working. Is there is problem here? I ordered almost as soon as preordering started, jamming Command+R until the "Coming Soon" icon disappeared from the Apple website. There was no change in the order status from AT&T for a while, until (on the 20th) the status suddenly says "shipped" on the 18th. Weird.

I'm just looking for a reliable app, preferably without a monthy charge, that will simply show me the location of my phone on a map. It doesn't have to be uber-accurate -- the closer the better obviously, but if I know its last-known location in a general sense (a mile or less), it's likely I'll remember where it could have been lost that day.I was looking at taptrace, and some others, but all the ones I've seen got mediocre reviews. iHound looks alright, but I don't like the whole monthly fee thing. Also, I'm not going to sign up for mobile me just to track my phone.

Itīs possible now to track your iphone without jailbreaking! Go to http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/latit...2&affId=972145 and install "latitudie". Itīs only 2 bucks!
It works with Google Latitude. First of all you need to activatie Google Latitude. You can do this on http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/latitude/intro.html .When you enable Google Location History you can see where your phone was. You can also see where your phone is at the moment.
This application runs in the background on iOS4.

I've been getting reboots semi randomly for the last week or two. Going back two weeks ago I was having some pretty poor battery life compared to some other users so I tried to do a full purge and restart. I went through the file manager on twrp and deleted any folder for any app that I wasn't using in a possibly misguided attempt to curb any file conflicts. After I did this I did a fresh install of cataclysm and Franco. After running into some reboots I tried with Kylo kernel and had the same issue. I then tried full wipe with Ubermallow and Kylo and had the same issue. Then I did a full lock, unlock, flash stock, root and recovery, and fresh install of chroma and Franco and it still reboots.
What I want to know is whether or not this could be a hardware issue and if not how to get this to stop. It's seems so random yet specific and it's happened on so many different installs. I have been rooting my phones since the OG Droid but I have never had an issue like this that lasts through so many installs of so many different things.

I have a very limited data plan (100mb/month) and I need to be able to identify what apps or processes are consuming data in my iPhone. How can I do this?I have already reviews all my accounts and turned Push off, although that didn't significantly reduce data usage. Either way, the accounts are responsible for, AT MOST, 2 or 3mb/day considering new emails/new calendar stuff and whatever. I have a lot of Apps too, but I'm always worried to keep every "automatic sync" stuff OFF. I use an application called DataMan Pro to track usage data and keep my data consumption under control. But it does not tell me WHERE the consumption came from. Yesterday I went to check DataMan for my usage and I was surprised to find 9MB of usage and I did NOTHING yesterday, didn't use any apps like facebook, didn't check my emails, anything. Where did that come from?

I am responsible for approximately 20 iPhones for our business. Each person buys their own apps and syncs the iPhone to their own machine. I am interested in seeing if there is a way (either via Find My iPhone or some other method) to keep track of all of the phones under one account. We are trying to avoid making that the individual's responsibility, and make it so that one user (me) can locate any of the phones if needed. Or am I going to be forced to set it up 20 times with 20 different accounts, and then keep a master list of the usernames and passwords for each, so I can track each one should one go missing?

I too am a former Droid X user who has been upgraded to a DX2 due to the numerous problems with the Droid X Gingerbread Firmware updates.
I have seen this GPS issue mentioned in another thread and in other forums so I know its not unique to my device, but it was buried in with a lot of other issues and thought it deserved its own thread, which might raise awareness of it for Motorola.
I use CardioTrainer to run, and although the overall location seems to be accurate in "Gross" (my run started and ended on the correct streets) the track showed me "jumping" all over the place in approximately 50 ft increments. This resulted in my 6 mile run showing as 10 miles long! And the pace per mile was similarly incorrect. At this time I do not seem to be experiencing the East/West bug, although I will confirm that by using the Google Nav app the next time I am in my car (just activated the phone yesterday). Additionally, I turn off wifi and bluetooth, leaving on celluar radio and GPS to improve stability before starting my runs, as well as, doing a fresh reboot. These steps seemed to increase the chance of completing a run with my Droid X.
This is a major component of my use of the phone, and I really enjoyed having an all in one, mp3/radio, gps, phone, that assisted me on my runs. I cannot yet comment on whether the X2 is more stable than the X, due to my limited time with the phone.

What is the BEST tracking/remote control/kill app out there?
- for non-JB phones?
- for JB phones?
I do not want to JB my phone but if there is better software out there for cheaper that would require the phone to be JB then I will do it.

Just recently figured out that if you get an e-mail with a tracking number for a package that if you hold your finger on the tracking number it comes up with a 'track shipment' option. However using this link takes you to the FedEx website.
I was just wondering if I can specify what website that link takes me to?
