Nokia :: N96 Ovi Maps Crashes While Syncing Favorites
May 24, 2010I have an issue with my Ovi Maps. I have Ovi Maps v3.01 09wk26 b02 running on Nokia N96.When I try to sync my favorites it crashes. Is there anyone with a solution? I have a lot of places marked which I need ro sync between Ovi Maps Online and phone.

Aug 3, 2010I have a Nokia 5230 (RM-588) with firmware 20.0.005 and Ovi Maps 3.04. Memory card is Kingston 8GB. I downloaded maps that I needed and everything is working OK from that point.
Here is the problem: I search for an address (offline), Ovi Maps finds it, I rename it and save it to Favourites. I repeat that with some other addresses. Then I turn off the Ovi Maps and navigation and after I start it again, my folder Favourites - Places is empty. Any idea why the Favourites are not saved ?

Aug 11, 2010I got a new N97 mini yesterday to replace my N97 original. Its having way to many issues.Anyway, after updating the Ovi Maps application on the phone I tried to synch my Ovi Maps favorites as I have done many times before. The process starts, but then just stops 10% on the way giving the message "Synch was not completed". I tried with my old N97 and the same message there. Which leads me to think its the service and not my devices.I live in Norway, so maybe its a regional thing, but if you guys can just make a quick test and se if you can sync your ovi maps favorites today. Or if you get the same error message as me.

Aug 18, 2012I cannot save any favorite places or routes in my Nokia E52 , I can save them in my nokia account but when I sync it with my nokia nothing happens . Before the last two software updates it worked and I had a lot of places saved , but after that they just disappeared and since than I can't use this function .

Jun 22, 2011i just updated firmware and ovi maps. i tried synchonizing my favorites to my phone but it says "Connection failed. Please try again." It's doesn't even bother asking me to connect. I'm already connected by wifi when i try this and it still doesn't work. It might have to do with the way i set up my phone to only use wifi as I do not have a data plan. My old n8 synchronized just fine but not this one.

Jun 7, 2010First of all I think that there is a lot confusing with the names of the things in OVI:
1) OviSuite is a program to synchronizing some things and download Maps.
2) Ovi Maps is a program that runs in the 5230 to do navigation and synchronization of maps
3) MapsOvi is a site in the Internet, to create and synchronize favorites and Routes.
I make a little basic test with the Maps for OVI Site and my 5230 and after creating some favorites places and routes in the Internet Site, I can not find a button to save and make the transfer of routes and favorites from the Map Ovi suite to my phone, using Bluetooth or USB cable.
There is a way to make the transfer directly from my PC to the 5230, using a USB cable or Bluetooth? Or the only way to transfer the favorites and routes created on the Maps Ovi to the phone is the real time synchronization of both, using the Internet connection on the way of my phone and spending a lot of $$$ to do this?
Nokia :: Lost Favorites After Reformatted And Reinstalled Apps To N97 - How To Get Back Favorites
Jul 28, 2010After an issue with my N97 where I was unable to do any backups from the phone to the internal memory card, I reformatted and reinstalled the apps to my N97 (making sure I did a backup using PC Suite before hand).
Upon restoring the PC Suite image, I found that it didn't restore the list of favourites which have meant that I've lost them all - I'm sure I remember that the backup to memory card did make a copy of them, but as I wasn't able to do this, this wasn't a possible solution .....
Luckily, Google Maps have most of my starred items (favourites) saved, (barring the one I managed to unstar by accident), but it appears as if Google doesn't store the actual co-ordinates and doesn't allow them to be exported ... So in short - is there anyway at all I can get my favourites back ?

Jan 23, 2010I am trying to download MAPS 3.0 onto my N900 via Nokia PC Suite. The instructions tell me to connect my phone via USB in Mass Storage Mode but MAPS 3.0 tells me to connect it in PC Suite mode. When I do this, I get a flashing message saying 'waiting for phone'.
I've tried connecting in both mass storage and PC Suite but the flashing message remains and I am getting frustrated as this is supposed to be easy to complete!

Scenario:
1. Set target address and let Maps calculate route. so far, so good
2. Start driving. As long as you stay "on route",things are ok
3. You notice that Maps route is not optimal and start driving your own route. Maps does not care.
4. In order to re-calculate route from your current GPS position to same target address. Maps UI gets very clumsy. First you need clear the map, re-enter the target address (well..luckily it's still in search window), ask to Maps to re-route. While doing all this, your car is prob. out of the road already.Why Maps doesn't re-calculate the route automatically when it detects that the GPS position is well "off-the-route". My friend was using his iPhone 3GS + navigation. It did the thing as expected.is this common behaviour of Nokia Maps, or just the N900 version that lags well behind other versions.

Jan 15, 2010I have just purchased the new N900 phone. First impression is it looks very good and works well, BUT still lacking the key features of the N96 such as:
Ovi Maps does not provide voice navigation. Java is not supported so such brilliant apps such as the Opera browsers can not be installed onto it. PC suite is not yet available it the phone. So at first glance it is a great phone that could match the IPhone, but more work needs to be done to it to make it the all singing and dancing phone that Nokia needs it to be. If i am wrong on these points could someone point me in the right direction of addressing them

Mar 30, 20101- I have installed PC SUIT suitable for nokia N900
2- Also installed nokia map loader version 3.0
Now all is fine. Isn't it? So they said first start nokia map application till it load completely then close it. I did. Then connect ur phone on PC SUIT MODE and also I did that. Then all I get on nokia map loader app is "Waiting for the phone" thats it and phone already connected I tried in both modes pc suit and mass storage but still the same "Waiting for the phone" and I am waiting too.

Feb 6, 2010Again, I am starting the topic of Nokia Map Loader. I have read all the topics regarding this issue here and on other forums, nothing works for me. I can't seem to have a way of downloading the Europe maps, when I go to the Pc Suite mode, the phone drive is visible and download is almost possible but when I choose a map, even a small one, the disc space information shows e.g. -53MB available space. If I go to the mass storage mode, in accordance with the instructions here:

I get the info message: One of the phones is connected in mass storage mode... And when I tick the info box, waiting for phone appears and nothing happens. Map loading to N900 is a JOKE my friends. If anybody can help me, I'd be grateful. I have tried deleting the cities folder and then recreating it once more. My PC operating system is WIndows 7.

1. Most obvious and talked about is the OVi Maps update. Iv read this is on its way, I hope its soon!
2. No MMS
3. No SMS without conversations, I hate conversations. I hate that nokia are copying iphone...
4. No copying of old SMS to N900. I was a N86 8MP user before this handset arrived today. I have about 1 to 2 THOUSAND messages, from over the years and Im a texaholic, so I NEED to save them....
5. No extra data connections, With O2 UK, I would normally have 3 connections:
O2 MMS
O2 WAP
O2 GPRS
But in addition to this, the new sim cards, automatically have a O2 postpay wap connection. So, I would like to have as many connections as I can!
6. No editing contact number description text. With, another let down, I have hundreds of contacts and about 10-30 of those have more than 2 or 3 numbers. For example, my workplace contact. I had like 10 to 11 numbers, plus other details, such as notes and emails all stored under 1 contact! For each number and note, I edited the text so I know exactly whos number it was, or what that text related to
I sure there's more, but atm since turning it on, charging, updating to latest firmware and first time boot with sim card, this is what I have found so far...

Mar 24, 2010I have been using an N900 for more than a month now and I had an iph0ne 2g before. Yesterday, I was trying to locate a place (London) using Ovi maps and I got completely lost. I never had such a problem before with google maps which pinpoint my location much more precisely (using EDGE) than Ovi maps using GPS. It might be that I am just dumb but has anyone had the same experience? how can I make Ovi maps more precise? using 3g instead of GPS?Many thanks for your time reading this and your reply if any.

Dec 29, 2010i set Blackberry Maps as a Favorite. It keeps disappearing from my favorites, so i have to set it again as a favorite.
First i had the OS6 running from Starhub (380). I thought it's a bug so i tried the leaked OS6 release (448).
Same thing, it keeps disappearing. Sometimes it disappears after some hours, sometimes after some minutes.
Usually when i turn off and turn on the device it's disappeared.

Jan 11, 2016To be honest, one of the most important factors I've held on to Nokia all these years was because of offline maps, GPS and awesome voice navigation. And I've assumed this would carry on into the new Lumia 950 - while all the Samsung and iPhone folks in my car whine and wonder how I navigate without an internet connection.
However, I can not find a way to migrate my map favorites from my L920 to L950.
Btw, even the voice navigation on the L950 is done by a strange robotic female voice. How can I download a new voice/language like the good old days?

Apr 26, 2010i realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.

Jun 6, 2010I have imported from Google Earth, thousands of POIs in Food categories for entire Brazil country, very ease: simply I get the KML file and converted it with Gps Babel to Nokia places format,click the file in the File manger, it asks which I want import, them I selected ALL, that works fine. But it put these POIs in my Favorites instead of General POIs, and did not included the subcategories of the Type of Food (Like Chinese, Pizza, French, Barbecue etc.). Not satisfied, because this and because it turned very slow, I want delete ALL these Favorites, but the only way I found to do this, is one BY ONE, I not found a way to delete ALL Favorites in one path only. In summary, my question is: What is the procedure to delete ALL my Favorites together?
