Jan 20, 2010I have a Nokia 5530 and one of my friends had a Nokia 5800. We both have the same problem with our headset we bought (the mrhandsfree Blue twin).we can pair them and this is no problem, we authorise it and again, no problem. It connects with the headset. After a few seconds, the connection is lost without a reason. We can connect it again by pushing the button on the headset, but this starts the voice dial. I want to be able to use voice dial, but only when i want it (normally, it is when you push the heatsetbutton a few seconds).The only way to remain connected with the headset is to play music, it plays through the headset and the connection stays on.When the headset is off and i put it on, the phone can see the headset and connects. It disconnects again after a few seconds.
When we get called, we can't accept the phonecall. the phone just rings, if we push the button on the headset, it connects with the headset and the sound goes perfectly through the headset. If i push the button to pick up, it disconnects the call.Why can't i stay connected with my phone and headset?

Feb 2, 2010The 5800 and 5530 don't dispaly the name of the sender when a text message is received, right, Well so I thought. and I wasn't too happy about it as all my previous phones had this facility. Then a few days ago I got a message on my 5530 and when I looked at the screen there waa white star overlaying the image of the sender on my contacts bar. Great, I thought, I'd never noticed that before! But how could this be? I haven't had a firmware upgrade or anything. Since then I've found that I occasionally get the star on messages from this one contact, but not on messages from any of my other contacts.What's going on? I've searched the web and can find no references to this at all.Have any other users noticed this feature? And can anyone explain why it doen't work for all contacts?

Jun 9, 2010So, my camera stopped launching. I fixed this yesterday by backing up my contacts and bookmarks and doing a reset (*#7370#).But then I noticed a few MORE issues with the phone that didn't exist before.
1. File manager. I can't copy files from one folder in my memory card to another. when i attempt this, the file manager spontaneously shuts down and redirects me to the main menu.Also, I can't seem to install any files on my phone. I'll start the installation, i'll accept the terms of agreement, i'll press continue... and then NOTHING. It just sits at the screen showing the .sis file i was trying to install. but nothing happens. i can't even delete the file b/c it says it's in use.
2. Image editor. i can edit images, but when i try and save them, the editor just closes and takes me to the image gallery. No saved image.
3. software update. the software update shows me a list of available updates like adobe flash lite, ovi contacts, shazam etc. I'll select a file to update, say for example, adobe flashlite.It'll say downloadin adobe flashlite (1 of 1) but the progress bar just WONT progress! it stays empty!
4. Settings>application manager>installation files.this will show an installation file for one theme that ...i'm not even sure i have on my phone anymore! at least, i can't find it on my memory card ( which is where it's supposed to be)which is strange, since i have a bunch of other installation files on my memory card which aren't showing up at all.it's perplexing. they should have a seperate forum dedicated to issues with the 5530, given the amount of trouble one has with it.
oh, i forgot the mention, my firmware is very much up to date. it was up to date before i performed the reset.but i updated it again last night, just in case that'd fix the issues above.it didnt.

Feb 8, 2010I bought xpress music 5530 just a month ago. It's almost perfect except camera and some other little problems.
First its my biggest problem I can not open camera !!! when I press the camera nothing happens.when I check the running programs its seems its working but its not this is annoying.I reset my factory settings it worked for a few days and its gone again.I formatted the phone it worked for a few days and gone again..And my other problem I can't create my own profile.I think its a software problem and I bagging you to fix it.I can't take this anymore I bought 5320 before it failed at everything I gave it back.If this problem will not solve I promise I'll not use nokia anymore.

Some times i'm able to start camera from "applications" to take pictures, but most of the times, if i go to applications > and click on camera, i just see the loading circle, but the camera doesnt launch.restarting the phone helps but the problem gets back. I reflashed my firmware using the nokia updater, but the problem has returned back now.

Dec 25, 2010I'm using a software called YBrowser to snoop around my Nokia E72 file system.I found out that the sound files for the camera shutter, auto-focus, etc. are located in the following path:[URL]... So I proceed to create a silence wav file (of about 10 kb).My ideia, simple enough, would be to replace the shutter sound file with this silence file and give it the same name, so as not to cause conflicts of any kind.
Although the YBrowswer allows me to snoop around the whole system files, it doesn't allow me paste new files, or even delete the 'CamcorderJavaCapture.wav' (which is the file I'd like to replce).I could access the Z:/ volume of my phone and do this?If not through the phone, maybe through a Terminal window and the E72 connected to my Mac via USB?

Jun 15, 2010I've had my Nokia 5800 for a year now, and recently my camera has just stopped working. I press the camera button on the side and it doesn't load, and even going via menu>applications>camera doesn't work.
However, after pressing the camera button and going via the menu, the green circle shows that camera is open even though it isn't.Sometimes when i turn it off and on again, it will take on photo then stop working.Does anybody know what I can do?

Mar 13, 2010I had a virus in my PC a few days ago, actually a Trijan, which Symantec was able to remove without requiring my Laptop to be formatted.But after that Camera stopped working, neither from hardware button, nor from applications. I reinstalled the firmware 30.xx and it started working again.
Now again Camera has stopped working, and also i have noticed, that when i click the arrow to go to next message, it goes to some months old messages randomly.DO i need some sort of formatting ? Will only hard reset work ? Is it some sort of virus on my cell?

Jan 27, 2010i turn on my nokia 5800. i can play all videos on the internet and on my phone at the minute.then whenever i go to the camera i can take one picture but when i press the back button it just shows me a black screen an i cant take photos anymore, also whenever i switch to video mode it also just shows me a black screen.whenever this problem occurs i can no longer watch any videos on my phone or watch any Internet videos as i just get audio and yet again the black screen. ive just tried a soft reset and no luck.only way to fix this until i access the camera again is to turn of my phone and turn it back on but this only fixes the problem until i go on camera.anyone have a solution to this problem or had this problem before?

Everything works fine except the camera. When I active the camera I can see that the application is started (seeing the indication in the menu) BUT I can't see the application. Thus I cannot take pictures.
Another question I have. Is there a setting in the emailsetup to prevent emails being deleted from the server when I deleted them on the phne?

When I turn on the phone and go to the camera it works. I can take few photos and close it. But when I try to run it again there is only black screen. I have to reset my phone to open it once again.
About videos:
Very similar problem. I can watch few videos, but If I close the player and run it again, there is only sound and black screen. I must reset my phone to watch it again...
I have FW v31 and it's the newest software provided by my operator.

Jan 20, 2010I want to use the 'sequence' image capture mode of the camera to take images at a defined time interval. If I use the sequence mode the 5800 camera shoots a series of photos fast. I want to adjust this time interval. The Nokia 5800 user manual says that this is possible by selecting the desired time interval.

I've already had to take it to a nokia care point twice in the past month because the screen has broken and then non responsive.I've reset the phone and hard reset as well and the problem is still there...
Basically when using the phone the screen turns black for a fraction of a second, before returning to the screen I was on. It happens about every 6 or so seconds...any advise or will I have to take it back to repairs?
Also, I have white spots on my camera screen? Is this dirt or a fault with the camera?
