Is there any way of utilizing the front camera on 5800 XM for video chat, like with web camera on PC, using Skype or similar application? I know Nimbuzz allows chat, but no video chat, as far as I'm aware of it's capabilities. Is there any other application capable of utilizing the front camera for described purpose?

View 17 Replies View Relatedi turn on my nokia 5800. i can play all videos on the internet and on my phone at the minute.then whenever i go to the camera i can take one picture but when i press the back button it just shows me a black screen an i cant take photos anymore, also whenever i switch to video mode it also just shows me a black screen.whenever this problem occurs i can no longer watch any videos on my phone or watch any Internet videos as i just get audio and yet again the black screen. ive just tried a soft reset and no luck.only way to fix this until i access the camera again is to turn of my phone and turn it back on but this only fixes the problem until i go on camera.anyone have a solution to this problem or had this problem before?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy camera has stopped working on my nokia 5800 press camera button and it just goes back to menu screen. Tried camera through apps does same thing and it does not show it open also. It will not play any videos just sound. I watch bbciplayer a lot on my phone and all I get is sound it just comes up and says unable to play video or sound but I can hear the sound. Just not see the video and also vidoes what I have took on my phone done soft and hard reset firmware update.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that after you have shot a video while using the volume/zoom switch to zoom in and out that when you play back the video you can hear the clicking of the switch? If you use the slide zoom on screen, the microphone also picks up the noise from your finger moving across the screen using that method too. This is a major problem as you cannot hear what you have filmed when you play it back, when I took it back to the shop where I purchased it from to explain about it they checked all the other N8's in the shop and they too had the same fault. Come on Nokia you managed to be able to get it right on my old N95-00 without it making the clicking noises,so you must be able to sort it out on the N8, the videos at the moment are unwatchable as all you hear is click, click ,click where the zoom button has been pressed. I bought this phone mainly for the excellent camera/video but at the moment all I have is a very expensive touch screen phone

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere I wish to post the problems I have been experiencing after I bought Nokia 5800, maybe, someone even has a magical solution for any of them.I own it since last year's November and I've spent more time re-inserting the battery and restarting it than actually using it, so I guess I sort of regret buying this smart piece of **bleep**.
So here's the list.. (any help, tips and fixes highly appreciated. Thank you!)
The video recorder often spoils the video with lags (which are file-written).An incoming call often cannot be picked up (nothing happens, it just rings. no key response)
Often the envelope symbol for new messages remains even if all messages read.The alarm clock has failed to wake me up 3 times because of the phone hanging up, and 2 more times just because of not ringing. (This is the worst part because I can't rely on this phone. What if I'm taking an important exam tomorrow? Hanging alarm clock is not an excuse, so I'm going back to the 20th century with a green-light alarm clock besides my bed, lol.)The screen rotation is so bad. I takes 5 seconds to turn the screen and often it gets confused whether to turn right or left.
If I install a new theme and set it as default (even if it's in Phone Memory), the chance of any of these bugs occuring multiplies twice.Often starting the menu or dialler pad causes the phone to hang up and nothing happens, can't even turn it off with the button. I have to reinsert the battery.The web browser often disappears without warning. A crash I guess. This **bleep** me off.The e-mail client causes problems when I set up a mailbox. What's the point of it if I can still use e-mail after uninstalling that Nokia E-mail afterwards. weird...Accessing Settings is risky, because it often hangs up and does nothing..
The media player once was unable to get rid of already deleted files. FoRtUnAtElY I found a fix (was i supposed to do that? No!).Once I couldn't access the installed application list, no matter what. Had to do a hard reset.And many more of these Sadly I knew what to expect when I was about to buy it, because I had experience with Symbian phones. In terms of reliability and satisfaction they haven't changed a bit since the first ones.

When I entered it, it just said "Service temporarily unavailable.lease try later". Same thing happened with Social. I hoped that this would get solved with symbian anna, but it didn't. Now, when i enter the app, only the loading screen appears, the one with welcome to ovi, an then nothing. It just exits the app. Note that I uninstalled and reinstalled these apps many, many times, but still, they do not work.

I really hate this phone because of this problem.I did a reset of the phone then also I had the same problem last week.I want to know whether this problem is because of the memory card or firmware. My music files and other things in the memory card are not affected, only the pictures and videos are getting corrupted.

I've been able to set a streaming solution through VLC to my nokia device and can stream netTV, movies, DVD discs, webcam from my personal PC. Through the tests, i've found that the maximum resolution is width=352, height=288 which is 11:9 aspect ratio. Of course i can set 16:9 ratio which again has the limitation of the width=352. Every pixel above 352 makes the nokia response in "Unable to play video clip".So obviously there is some limitation in the resolutions through live streams. When i play a video from the Memory Card, 640*360 is supported without a problem.The problem is, that i have access to several streams , which are live TVs and i can watch only those, that are below 352 pixels wide. Those that are in resolution 448*336 don't play, although the format and the codecs of the stream are the same as with the 352*288.So, is there a way , that i can remove these limitations, or at least allow the Real Player to play streaming links with higher than 352 pxls width?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a used 5800, and yes, it is a old, 2,5 year old phone with latest software, works good. Only problem is that the vibration doesnt work. No matter is it on or off on profiles, it doesnt vibrate. And it doesnt vibrate even when i turn phone on, like my old 5230 did always vibrate when it boots up, my 5800 doesnt. What is wrong, why vibration doesnt work when someone calls or sends message, or not even vibrating in boot up, boots normally, no vibration.. Is the vibration function broken?
And my model is 5800d-1, is other models always too 5800d-1, or is my different and if yes, what is difference to other 5800's? This is a 2,5 year old Black and Red 5800. Using 52.0.007 firmware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, I know what you're thinking...USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION! But I have and I have tried all the solutions I could find on google and here. I've tried turning it on with just the bat, bat/mem, bat/sim, etc charged my phone and what not and still nothing. It just won't turn on.I even tried hard resetting it but nothing works. When I press and hold the power button it just vibrates once and doesn't do anything. When I hook it up to the pc, it recognizes that there's a nokia phone there...I think...but it only does when you click and hold power and i vibrates.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to firmware40.0.005 (custom version 40.0.005.224.09) videos get stuck after a few minutes, even knowing the sound still plays.I have made some research and spotted people complaining of that issue after upgrading to that firmware but it was a few months back, and surely Nokia wouldn't have text me last week to let me know about a firmware update if the problems with it havent been resolved.Any help would be much appreciated as I am using my phone to watch video a lot as it normally does the trick to keep my hyper active toddler quiet while out and about.Even a firmware downgrade would be accpetable, the videos being so important to avoid the little one destroying places (it was a god sent in A&E)

Which folder does the videos reside in and which folder does the images reside it that I want to transfer from the phone to the computer .
I have always had Sony phones in the past and they have specific folders for Video , Picture and Audio. The Nokia is confusing the hell out of me

But then when I start to reinstall the apps I've lost. I've only installed ViewRanger (1.7Mb), and the memory has already dropped to 28Mb. I daren't install anything else. View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter recent upgrade to v 60.0.003, my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic does not seem to be working properly with my car bluetooth kit. It connects to the car kit alright, and the incoming call's ringtone is heard on the car kit and the call can also be accepted by pressing the green button on the car kit but the call voice (both mike and speaker) remains with the phone and does not come over the car stereo. If I look at the phone screen during the call, there is an option to activate the speaker but none to transfer the call to bluetooth device. I have tried fiddling with options in Accessories - > Car kit, as well as the bluetooth options, to no avail. Tried re-pairing but that didn;t help either.
