Motorola Atrix 4G :: Video Chat With GTalk - Outgoing Video Not Working?
Jul 24, 2011
I was so excited to get Gingerbread (2.3.4) cause now Video chat is supposed to work with GTalk.I tried it on my Atrix and I can see the other person's video feed. But the other person can't see me.
I have been trying to get my bluetooth earpiece to work while video chatting on gtalk. So far I have not been able to do so. I have a Motorola earpiece that is about 4 years old. The model Number is HS850.
Doing a quick little review on what I personally believe is the best video player for the Atrix 2.
After messing around with several video players, the list includes the following
[code]...
I had some avi files that were choppy in every video player and the only media player that played them smoothly using software compression was MX Player. Also I noticed that MX player would allow you to software decode video and audio seperatly, meaning you can use hardware decode for video and software decode for audio.
I bought an Atrix a few months ago and have had a few problems, but have had NO time to address it. So, I've just ignored it. The main problem is that I cannot play a video that has been sent to me via text. I am able to play videos that I record on the Atrix. I have even sent myself a video from my Atrix and it has played. I don't know why my phone is unable to play videos that have been texted to me.
Another problem is that my ringtone will not stay correct. Sometimes my ringtone will be what I have selected and other times it plays an old ringtone that I had set from my previous phone. I have checked the settings for my ringtone. I don't have any specialized ringtones for any specific people on my contacts list. So my ringtone can be one of 3 songs that are on my songs list. compared to the one listed above. I dont know how a phone this "smart" cannot play videos received.
I am new to both the Atrix and smart phones and have a few questions I was hoping somebody else had already figured out.
1)I installed Skype on the phone and it seems to work fine; however, I cannot figure out how to do video calling. I assumed that the front camera was there for the sole purpose of doing video to video calls; however, when my wife tried to make a video call to me I didn't receive video (she called my from her computer, on the exact same WiFi router).I went through every setting I could find and was unable to locate anything that would enable video calls.
2)I have noticed that my cellular reception seems weak compared to my wife's Motorolla XT 720.She regularly has 1-2 bars more than me in the exact same place.Any ideas why and if there is anything I can do to improve my cellular reception?
3)Whenever I get a new computer I like to remove all the bloatware installed by the manufacturer.I'd like to do the same on the phone, but I know so little about Android that I'm afraid I might remove something important. My phone is factory unlocked (but not jail broken) and seems to have a lot of AT&T junk on it that I really don't want/need. Are there any installed apps that I'd be better off leaving alone, and are there any that I really want to make sure I ditch?
4)I made the mistake of adding my facebook account when I set up my MotoBlur (another yuck ).Unfortunately I'm overseas for a couple years, and have no desire for these people to show up in my contacts when I'm trying to make a phone call.Is there any way to delete all my facebook contacts from my telephone contacts?
I have noticed that the video playback, on the Lapdock, can be really clear, sharp and smooth. Other times it can be a little laggy, not as clear and blocky. (It changes between the two every 5 to 10 min.) Sometimes I've seen a message pop up that says something like, the video is not optimized for mobile. This is streaming thru Firefox, using HBO GO website. (I haven't had a chance to check this with netflix.) I've tried to let the buffers feel up for a few minutes as well.
When I try to play an AVI video file (from an 808 keychain camera) that I copied from my computer to the phone SD card, the file comes up & plays but all I get is audio with a blank/black screen. The files play fine on the computer. I tried small ( 8mg ) files but no difference. I use the stock media player w/ flash player which has worked great for everything up till now. OS is 2.3.6.
Aside from having Mr. Blurrycam over for a party, is there an app (perhaps via Android SDK like DDMS) that allows me to get a real-time streamed Atrix screen on my PC so I can record videos to demonstrate operation of an app?
I am going to summer camp next week. We are not allowed to bring laptops or computers, but maybe iPads. Although, since the camp is long, I would like to video chat (through AIM or facetime) with my friends and family.
I have an iPhone 3GS with a two year contract set to expire the end of next year, so I can not get an iPhone 4. If I were to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS, is there any way that I could video chat using an external camera or the camera on the back?
Also, is there any way I could video chat using an external camera on my jailbroken iPad?
Finally have Messages App working in Mavericks and was curious if there was a way to use my iPhone as the video source since it's a Mac Pro without video.Â
Info: Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), 8 Core 2.8Ghz 10GB RAM
I'm trying to record video. I'm getting some nice image quality, but almost no sound. The audio is extremely muffled. I have my playback volume as high as it will go, and still can just barely hear anything. I can use Tango and make phone calls just fine, so it seems that my mic is working. The only time I've noticed the problem is when I'm trying to record a video. Even if the person I'm recording is standing right in front of my and speaking in a loud, clear voice, I can't hear much in the recorded video.
I called moto this morning and told them the phone is awesome, but the camera can't focus on anything, and the video is jerky. The customer service guy told me he is sending the problem up the latter and is confident that it will be addressed with the next firmware update. He said there were a few people having the same problem. I'm not ready to get rid of this phone, but the camera/video camera are not on the same level with other 8mp/1080 p recording devices.
I'm having difficulty sending an email of a short video I took on my new Atrix. Upon hitting the share button and selecting email, I get the error "
Video size exceeds limit".
the email address I am using is within my own domain of which I am the controller. There is no limit on my mailbox in regards to how large a file I can send. I wonder how to adjust the settings ont he Atrix to cure this bug/feature.
Once again I took several videos with my DROID X in the vertical position. Has anyone found a conversion utility that properly converts a .3gp video file to rotate the video horizontally (on a PC)? I've found several that CLAIM to, but the problem I continue to run into is that the Audio doesn't propery SYNC in the resulting output file (e.g., .avi).
i believe i found a bug with 3.1. videocamera pauses while video recording when a live paper is being used when wallpaper is just a picture than it works properly.
i was wondering if anyone else had the problem with a high pitched noise in the background of a video recording during the playback of the video? I couldnt really find any good explanation over the web. i can only hear it after ive recorded the video and ive tested it in a quiet room with no interference but its still there in the background.
My cousin has another brand phone. It's a low-priced one and he can do videochat over 3g network with other brand phones. (Please don't interfere with Iphone3g). With my iphone 4, I can not videochat with him! His phone doesn't have wifi. So we can not do facetime, or skype conference (As far as I know). Can I do videochat with him without any additional application over 3g network?
