I'm trying to connect to my computer that runs Windows XP Service Pack 3. The computer recognizes the cell phone and installed drivers (contents are available through Explorer). But the PC Suite (v 7.1.51.0) doesn't show any available connections. The option for choosing cable, IR or bluetooth is greyed out. I tried running Nokia PC Suite Cleaner 7.1.1 and reinstalling PC Suite, but nothing changed.
View 7 RepliesI have noticed the following gaps/bugs in Ovi Suite.
1) I download a particular maps using OVI suite. Next time when I connect my device, it does not show the installed maps.
2) There is no way to see if update to downloaded maps are available.
3) Message sync is a bit wierd. Why are there still message on OVI suite that I already deleted on my phone.
4) When I read a message using OVI suite, the indicator light on E72 still flashes.
5) Why is there an option, contact in mobile and contact on OVI, should it be same......................
Today while browzing Nokia site happened to see new phone software version. E.g., if I connect a headset, is there a way to verify whether the iPhone is communicating with it using 3.0, 2.1, 2.0, etc? This isn't the same as what the device specs say it supports as (all?) Bluetooth devices are capable of falling back to earlier protocol versions. I'm envisioning a situation in which a 2.1 version device isn't fully compatible for whatever reason and so falls back to 1.1- how would you know this has happened?
I want to be able to verify what protocol a given device is actually communicating at for various reasons (security, power usage, etc.)...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Ovi Suite on Windows 7 Home 64-bit and keeps on crashing. when i open it i get a message that says sth like "Ovi stopped working. windows: there is a problem that prevents the programme from working properly" etc. (i'm translating from italian). Full stop. Nothing more, nowhere to click. There is no error message.I saw this thread (/t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Ovi-Suite-keeps-on-crashing-version-2-2-0-245/td-p/730687) and tried to follow the procedure but this does not apply to my case because:
1) there is no such thing like a window dialog suggesting "Check online for a solution and close the program" AND "close the program".
2) there is no such thing like "View problem details" etc.
Do you know how to fix this problem and/or give me a link where I can download a former Ovi Suite version that works properly?

I've recently installed an update to my ovi store on my nokia 5800 through the ovi suite and it doesnt work. It won't open up at all! I can't install or uninstall anything it keeps saying that it's "unable to start operation: installer already in use" its a pain, can anyone help me please?

They work nice. I use them a lot for walking, running, and bicycling.My question though, is the GPS actually using the GPS satellites in orbit, or is it using triangulation off several cell towers to get my location?If it is using GPS satellites, why is it that if I turn off all connections (Mobile Network Sprint & Wi-Fi), I lose all GPS connections as well? If this device is atually getting signals from the satellites, what difference does it make if I am in a cell coverage area or not?I've read that, yes, the location is retrieved from the satellites, but to plot it on the maps takes the cell connection. If that is the case, is there an app that just logs longitude and latitude every second and stores it in a file that can be dumped to a map at a later time?
The reason I bring all this up is because, later this summer, I plan to go on a 2-week long cruise that will visit about a dozen different Carribean islands and I'd like to track my location. At sea, I won't be able to pick up a cell signal. Will the GPS tracking apps like google, still work? Even if I can't get a cell signal, my GPS should still be able to pick up satellite signals
Today I noticed that my E71 doesn't show any names when somebody calls me, neither does it show any names with text messages (SMS). It shows just the number.It doesn't show any name, I tried it with 10+ different people, both calling and texting. I have no duplicates in my address-book. I didn't add anything in the last 3 days. Yesterday everything worked just fine. I have no '(unnamed)' entries in my address-book either. No empty entries either. I didn't sync my phone with my pc (via Nokia PC Suite) since last week.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWith the newer Nokia Messaging versions (like the one included in the most recent E72 fw update) the behavior with POP email accounts is different. When replying to a message or forwarding a message the message does NOT show up in the Sent Items folder of the PHONE. If you send a message (without reply or forward) it DOES show up in the sent items folder of the phone. With the older versions of Nokia Messaging this did work. Extremely annoying for a messaging device. Nokia please FIX this or provide downgrades for.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.6 on my Windows 7 laptop. It connects to my 6820 no problem via bluetooth. The Communication Center seems to work fine for accessing Contacts. And the File Manager works too.
The Content Copier appears to work properly as well until the last step. It even creates a 1/4 MB file on my laptop while it's processing the phone data. But it deletes the file once the process completes.
The exact message at the end of the process is:

after I updated my Nokia E6 to the recent software, it doesnt show the callers names when receiving a call and when receiving an sms. I have to save the same number twice, once with international prefix example +963 (thats for my home country) and once without. When receiving calls it show the name only if saved without the prefix (unless its an international call) and when receiving sms it shows the name only when its saved with the international prefix. I didnt have that problem before the update!

I have a Nokia E71, and i was using Nokia PC Suite to sync it with my outlook 2007 it all worked fine, contacts, to do notes and calendar (i wasn't syncing mail cuase i use gmail), untill the new ovi suite came out and i decided to try it since It sounded better.turns out It really sucked this ovi suite!! one of the worst softwares I've ever used, it duplicated all of the appointments that had color categories in outlook 2007, it is dead slow to sync!!!(i mean reeeaaly slow), even tough the Suite integrates more stuff in to one place it has reduced funcionality to sync stuff with my phone, it offers less funtions, not to mention that the user interface sukcs (its poorly desingned, it takes long to accses stuff, it shows me stuff as if it was advertisement).PC suite was very simple but funcional, oviously i went back to pc suite, to my surprise i couldn't sync, pc suite & the phone would do as if they were syncing, but when i checked at the end it wouldn't sync stuff.

I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought a Nokia 700 and for few days I'm experiencing this weird problem.Every single connection drops (3G, Wi-Fi and USB. Haven't tested NFC yet) at random times and I can't reconnect. It always says after that it can't connect and the connections are unavailable.After turning the phone off and then on again, everything is back to normal. I can normally connect to the 3G connection, Wi-Fi and USB.It's pretty annoying as I always have to restart my phone in order to connect via USB or to the Internet when it happens.Anyone else who is experiencing the same problem or has any solutions to this?
