I own nokia 5233 and have gone through the manual.In the manual, under Antenna locations, it shows GPS antenna but the phone doesn't show me my location in OVI maps. Even if I keep my phone away from buildings, trees for about 15-20 minutes..
View 5 Repliesi have my mobile noki 5233.i have purchased the software Internet downloader pro from nokia ovi store bt when i download video in mp4 h.264 format it doesn't play it says either can play video or audio bt it plays flv h.263 format very well.bt all thevideos are in 240p resolution all the mp4 format has the higher resolution bt it doesn't show any option to download h.263 format in mp4 videos.play videos in h.364 format.

I recently bought Nokia 5800XM and I have small problem. When I try to use Ovi maps and select My location it points me out to some place in London. First of all I thought its a problem with the GPS so I installed Google maps to check. The result was - Google maps application properly found my exact location(Sofia, Bulgaria, even the street was correct).Then I tried to remove all the maps and voice guidance files from my phone and installed ONLY the Bulgaria map and Bulgarian voice guidance file. However when I selected "My location" the GB(London) map was downloaded and the again I was pointed to some random location in London...
My phone software is updated to 50.0.005 and my Ovi Maps version is 3.04(updated today). Only Assisted GPS and Integrated GPS are enabled in App>Location>Positioning>Positioning Methods. I use the WAP services(HSDPA) provided by my operator(Mtel BG) to connect to internet.Is this some kind of hardware problem(in other words should I return my phone to the vendor) ? Or Ovi Maps are still in beta(or alpha) stage and can't be used for proper navigation ?
When I launch maps I have no problem looking through the maps with post codes etc but I cant find my current location, it searches for ages with no luck.I dont know what to do.

Internet option is offline as I have downloaded the map. Do I need to to make it online to A-GPS work?
Open the Maps application on N96, then select "Options" -> "My position", the application will show a Red Circle on the Map to indicate the current position, and the position is correct, but when I walk to another street, then select again "Options" -> "My position", found that the Red Circle is still on the previous street. What is the problem? Why Maps can't show "My second position" correctly?

The dot representing me on the maps will vanish, and if I press the locate button again, it will pop somewhere else within a couple of miles of me, and then realize that isn't right, and not change the circle locator button to green, or show a dot on the screen. I can press the locate button again and have this happen continuously.When using Nokia Drive Beta, it will use my correct location to plot a course, but then not follow me at all, so it constantly displays the first direction. It, too, seems to have no clue where I am.My commute takes me through country, city, and suburbs. I've tried placing the phone on the dash, in the cupholder, and just holding it. Previous phones (iPhone, android) have not had this issue over the same commute.

As far as I know, these 2 positioning methods do not require any kind of GPS chip in the phone as these positioning methods decides your location by GPRS connection.But, in the manual, it is given that on the left side of the handest (NOKIA 5233), it has GPS chip?
So, what does that mean? Nokia 5233 does have a real GPS?
I do mountain bike and I have frequent signal problems so the google maps is useless from being unable to connect to the Internet.But the nokia maps works very well and has a large cache map satellite view but can not find how to display the track on the map.I tried to convert my kml track files to gpx,lmx with GPSBabel program but when open these files I get a error, only the waypoints works.

1) I download a particular maps using OVI suite. Next time when I connect my device, it does not show the installed maps.
2) There is no way to see if update to downloaded maps are available.
3) Message sync is a bit wierd. Why are there still message on OVI suite that I already deleted on my phone.
4) When I read a message using OVI suite, the indicator light on E72 still flashes.
5) Why is there an option, contact in mobile and contact on OVI, should it be same......................

It shows just the number.It doesn't show any name, I tried it with 10+ different people, both calling and texting. I have no duplicates in my address-book. I didn't add anything in the last 3 days. Yesterday everything worked just fine. I have no '(unnamed)' entries in my address-book either. No empty entries either. I didn't sync my phone with my pc (via Nokia PC Suite) since last week.

When replying to a message or forwarding a message the message does NOT show up in the Sent Items folder of the PHONE. If you send a message (without reply or forward) it DOES show up in the sent items folder of the phone. With the older versions of Nokia Messaging this did work. Extremely annoying for a messaging device. Nokia please FIX this or provide downgrades for.
