My N8 with Belle update suddenly switched itself off. And when I start it again the "progress dots" animates for a while, then stops. This happends 3 times, and then the phone switches off again. Have tried resetting by holding down the power button until 3 vibrations. Why is this happening (have used Belle for a while now without any reboot).

When I press the power button it shows Nokia and after that the loading screen (those 5 white points) for like 30 second with the menu button light turned on and after that it shuts down.

I DO NOT WANT TO LOGIN TO OVI as I feel that I do not have any control over the data usage of it. I am frequent traveler and I guess that OVI is not going to pay for the internet while I am roaming.I NEED to get entirely rid of this OVI login screen. Anyone who can explain how I can remove the OVI login from my phone ? Pressing the Later button is not an option.

Is there a method that can hard reset or reformat the device?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am planning to purchase a Nokia 6700 slide for my mother, however, the seller has stated that it takes a long time to start up, anything between 5 minutes to an hour; and often varies. I am wondering what is casuing the problem with the device before purchasing, other than the start-up time, everything on the handset works perfectly fine (according to the seller).
Would reinstalling the operating system be of any solution? From what I know, there are no other faults for the device, and the boot up error occured totally randomly. This boot- up time is the only fault on the phone; and could be a problem, as my mother may be unable to charge the device at various points, where the phone would turn off due to low battery.
Or are there any other steps which I could take to ensure that this problem doesn't occur? Also, this is an old phone, therefore it is out of warranty.
After booting a lot of needless processes run in the background.How to disable that processes starting automatically ?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI left my phone to charge one night before going to bed (pulled out the charger when it finished). The next morning the phone had shut down by itself and when I tried turning it on I got white lines accross the screen. That happened for a few more times (sometimes blue or green or red lines), and after I removed and put the battery back in the following has been happening since then : Starting the phoneWhite screen with Nokia logo shows upMessage "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". Phone hangs. If I press the shut down button, lines appear and fade out before phone shuts down.
I tried the hard reset method, but either I am doing it wrong, or it just doesn't apply here. I tried connecting it to my PC, but it is not recognised (probably because a message to select PC Suite doesn't show up). The phone is a few months outside warranty, so it is not financially wise (or viable) to send it for repairs. I am an advanced user and I'm willing to try any flashing utilities guides to restore it to working condition. Could it be the battery needing a switch? I tried removing the memory card & SIM, but the problem persists.
I have always wondered on my Blackberry Bold 9700 under Options-SMS Text and go down to Network To Send Over and it gives me 4 options:

Packet Switched Preferred

My Network is Circuit Switched Preferred, but i would like to know if anyone knows what these mean and which is the best for SMS Texts to be sent over using which one?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a Nokia E71 from a friend. For some reason I decided to delete apps I wouldn't use and deleted Top Hits Solitaire and Global Race. When I turn the phone on now it starts installing something and then I get a message saying "Unable to complete the installation from the memory card. To install remaining applications go to Application Manager." Could this be because I deleted the two apps? How I can find out what it is trying to install and how I can stop it trying to install it?
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy mum only gave me this phone 2days ago as she got a new one. She's never had a problem with it and has kept it in a hard case so still looks brand new. I always have a habit of breaking or losing phones, this is 3rd one in 4 months. Anyway I picked my phone up and it was switched off but I presumed it was dead as I had left my music playing. I put it on charge only for 10 minutes but I never tried switchig it on as I forgot to take it out with me. I put it on charge again last nite but it won't turn on this morning. The screen comes up white with the battery sign on the right which stops after a minute as I assume its fully charged now. Its not the charger as my bf uses it for his and the phone does seem to be charging. The on button can't be broken as when I press it the white background comes back on. I've tried the hard reset wth the 3 * and green button but nothing.

Text messages are only being received when i switch the phone off then on again they come through. Also, if i have missed a call and hit the log or - show missed calls button, the phone says no missed calls/ no information.Has anyone else experienced this problem and know of a fix?

I have a 32 GB HTC One M9 from Verizon on stock Lollipop Android, and it has been working perfectly until this morning. I woke up to my M9 stuck in a bootloop. It would boot to the HTC logo, stay there for about 10 sec, then go black and constantly restart again (even as I type this). I can access the bootloader, but it seems none of the options work for me! I can't boot to recovery mode or even power off my phone. It just constantly boots again by itself.

A few things that i discovered and its bad! Comparing to E71, E72 is very bad. By the way, this is the second E72 i am using. I bought one before, same issue, now the secound one, Same ISSUE again!
Here are the problems: I need to type in Chinese (pinyin) but whenever the language is switched to Chinese input, the calculator does not allow me to input decimal (how bad this is!).
Also in Chinese mode, once back to English input, the SPACE bar input is NOT WORKING. The only way is to restart the damm phone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i came home yesterday, Sent a text to my friend to log in to play some Cod with me.. I left my phone next to my bed,On a table.. I come back about 3-4 hours later the phone is dead, I figured i needed to charge the battery.. Put the charger in and went back to the computer, Came back another 2-3 hours later and still nothing.. It only vibrates when i try to boot it, I tried a hard reset Green/Red/Camera/Power key, But it doesnt work.. The phone just vibrates at the beginning, then it keeps vibrating with a 3-5 seconds interval between them..
I've removed the memory card and the sim card, Still doesnt boot up..
I've removed the battery and had it out for 5-10 mins, Still wont boot
And i think it's the newest firmware version..Its my dads phone,My 5800 broke a few weeks back..
I've tried with a different battery, Didn't fix it
Is there anyway to fix it or do i need to turn it in for repairs?
When I connected my x6 via usb, the screen went blank and came back freezing on the boot-up screen (white screen with NOKIA in blue letters.) I couldn't switch off the phone with the power button so I removed the battery. When I switch on the phone now, it freezes on the boot-up screen and stays there. The only thing I can do is remove the battery.

1. I understand E72 supports Exchange and standard webmail apps. What is Nokia Messaging then? Looks similar to a BlackBerry set up. I have a Yahoo! email account which I would like to be able to configure it with the E72 built in email client (not the apps), and sync/reconcile two ways.
2. How about folders within Yahoo! mail? Are these shown in the built in email app?
3. I would like to have in sync Yahoo! contacts and calendar. Are these features supported?
4. Is it possible to open (and log in) Skype at phone boot?
