N8 is showing signs of having problems. It suddenly stopped saving photos so I lost a load without realizing it. I rebooted it with a hold on the power button. It still crashes when I get a sms, the touch screen is unresponsive quite a lot and randomly. I tried resetting it to factory but that has made it even worse as the stupid gps thing keeps starting up all the time and Purple tinged screen is also back.
View 3 RepliesI found few unused/irrlevant applications loaded in the mobile. Few of these applications starts as default processes and keeps running in the background. If the applications are not part of core operating system and not required to always keep in mobile, should be allowed to remove them.

i have nokia 5230 and its supposed to have 128MB ram but when i installed third party apps(RAMblow and FExplorer) these applications are showing only 47.38 as Max.free memory any reason why?

At times, I have seen that when I receive a call from the person who is already added in my contact list, the phone is just displaying the number and not the name of the person. When I check the Log, it also displays the number and not the name of the person.
I have imported my contact list from my previous handset (Nokia N70) where it worked absolutely fine. It is quite inconvenient to identify the caller without the name and decide whether to accept or reject during work hours and have at times missed some important calls due to that.
I need some to free some of my phone memory. I have mass memory and a memory card, that I can transfer to, but I am not sure how to do this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy C: memory is showing as full when I try to clear it through the phone file manager despite looking through all folders I cannot identify any large files on it and the same is the case when I try to look through my pc software.
When I hold on the C: memory and look at the memory details it shows 131mb of messages even though I have deleted all txt messages and emails, 46mb of SIS applications I can't see these in the file manager and 72mb of other files which I assume are the OS files.
I bought this phone on the 16th of feb but now mass storage is gone not showing anymore not even on PC... i did everything like installing latest software, restore, delete data and restore and hard reset but still not detecing mass storage.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI synced my N8 with windows media player after the anna update but couldn't see any pictures in the photo app. Pictures are already on the device inside "pictures" (not "images") folder in E: drive. After playing a bit, i figured out that photos app only read the pictures inside "images" folder of E: drive. Is there any possible way to make photo app read files in the "pictures" folder or make Windows Media Player sync with the "images" folder instead of "pictures" folder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy gf 701 was freezing terribly, first she told me that the hardware keys & unlock slider not functioning just the touchscreen and the power button,this happens to my n8 sometimes, i usually restart it and its back on track, i did 2 backups (one full backup & other without phone settings and apps but everything else) with Nokia Suite ,i did soft reset ,when restarted ,same thing, hardware keys & unlock slider not functioning ,then tried hard reset, after hard reset, it acts like it's now booting up showing the dots, but soon after just shows black screen, when connected to Nokia Suite it doesn't recognise the phone, is there any way i can fix this by loading back firmware? if so what program should i use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy mass memory is showing that it is in use even when it is not connected to any device or gadget, It all happened when I formatted my Mass Memory via PC in mass storage mode !!Format was successful but when I ejected 701 from PC the Default file manager was still showing that the mass memory is in Use. I tried everything from updating my software via Nokia Suite to re-booting my device a multiple times and also removed the battery many times and also I Hard Reset my device many times but to No avail .

View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a partial restore using the Nokia Suite, selecting only the "Device settings an applications" content (I wanted to restore a theme that I wasn't able to download again without purchasing a second time). The restoral was successful and I have the theme back. The problem is that several other themes that I no longer want were also put back on my N8. I go to Settings>Application manager>Installed apps, however none of the restored themes are listed (they are all taking up Device Memory). how I can delete these items from my phone and thus free up the memory they are occupying?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 4 contacts on my contacts bar. When I click one of the pix, I get a list of all the events relating to that contact - great, that's as it should be. But when I click on one of the other three, there are no events shown - the message is "(no communication events)". But I know there should be some, because I remember calling them yesterday and if I check the call log I can see the call there. If I then do something with one of the three (send a text or call them), then as if by magic the missing lists of events appear. It's always the same one that's complete initially, and always the same three that seem to need a reminder to behave themselves.if there's anything I can do to get all comms events showing all the time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince the Belle update, whenever I take a picture I am able to view it in the phone, but when I connect to a PC to transfer the picture in Mass Storage, the pictures are not there. I've looked in both the Mass Memory and Phone Memory folders. I've checked to see if the photo has a saved file name which it does. It finds them in Ovi Suite but I much prefer to use Mass Storage, it's so much easier and quicker to use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic that is 3 months old And I've had no problems with it until recently.It has come to my attention that When I send smiley faces or winks such as ^___^ or ^___~, the ^ and ~ signs do not show up to whomever i send the text message to and only the underscore ___ is seen by the reciever. In my inbox it shows those symbols but in the reciever's inbox it's just an underscore. I'm not sure if that happens to other characters since i mainly use those two.I update the software/firmware (I'm not familiar with the terminology) frequently. So I'm not sure if this problem is just the phone that I recieved or if not all phones could recieve the ^ /~ sign (i doubt it though).

Is there a time limit of inactivity before Skype signs you out? I was under the impression that you were 'online' until you signed out?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem with my phone is that it was working last night and now it wont turn on ive tried everything i can think of holding the home and power button for 20 seconds did nothing charging it did nothing the only thing that my phone is able to do is go into DFU mode and then it will put me in recovery mode during recovery mode my phone wont do anything it will just remain a black screen finally while itunes says waiting for iphone during recovery a error will pop up it is called error 4005.

I use it with a sim-only O2 Germany pay monthly plan. I have also downloaded Apps World (1.1.0.33), Application Center (5.0.0) and BB Maps (5.0.0) using the Mac Desktop Manager, but they do not appear in the menu. They do appear on the Application list under options. I have rebooted the device as outlined in the BB Online Support instructions (pressing alt/cap/del ///// removing the battery) but there's still no sign of the icons. I have thoroughly looked for them, including sub folders etc, but they do not appear anywhere. Can anyone help?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, I accidentally renamed the folder on my phone (thinking it was on the desktop folder I just copied over) and windows explorer crashed in the process. Now when I go to galleries on my phone, there are error signs on some of the images. When I try and go back to the DCIM folder, the folder I renamed (as well as the 100Media folder where it stored all my pictures) is gone. Is there any way to get it back?
