Nokia Nseries :: 808 Not Resolving Incoming Numbers?
Jun 28, 2012
All of the phone numbers in my Contacts database are stored using the international format with the country code included. For example:
0410 XXX XXX
is stored as:+61410 XXX XXX
So the country code has been included (+61 for Australia in this example) and the leading zero has been dropped. Pretty standard stuff and it ensures that you can make the call no matter where you are in the world.
This is how all of my numbers were stored in my N8 and all Nokia phones before it.
When I transfered all of my contacts to my new 808 it can't deal with it. When I get a phone call, the 0410 XXX XXX number comes up on the screen without a name or a photo. The 808 doesn't recognise that it's the same as the +61410 XXX XXX number in my Contacts database.
Are others having this issue? Is this a bug with the 808? It's a bit of a disaster for me because I no longer know who is calling because I don't recognise the numbers. My friend got an 808 at the same time as me and his has exactly the same problem too.
I was got my Nokia 97 today and I've noticed that when receiving calls, even from numbers I know are not private or blocked, the phone number doesn't appear on the screen or in the call log. I have tried going through all the settings and everything I could think of to try and fix th problem but nothing would help. This is frustrating as when I recieve a call I have no idea who it is from, or who to call back!
I have recently bought a new N8. My previous phone was HTC touch diamond 2. In the HTC, you could block the caller id to people not in the contacts list. For example, only people whose numbers were stored on your phone/sim card could see that you were calling. If you called anyone else, it would come up as 'Caller ID Withheld'. But now in my N8, I only have three options. Show caller id, withhold caller id and 'set by network'
how I can show my caller id to people only on my contacts list?
My N8 displays a rapidly changing numbers in the top right hand corner of the screen when in portrait mode and in the center of the screen when held in landscape. The numbers change all the time and are in the format xx.x, e.g. 24.2, 16.6 and so on.
When I first noticed it I did a hard reset using *#7370# which made it go away, but it returned next time my phone restarted after it upgraded an ovi twitter app.
i have nokia n79 phone and i cannot hear sometime incoming calls, this happen two or three times in month, i have flashed the phone whith the last software and nothing happen, i have till the same problem... also i changed the ear speaker but same nothing fixed yet..
If an SMS arrives, it beeps etc. I unlock it (onscreen unlock) and about 1/3 of the time I see a notification like "message arrived - display it?" and I can see it right away. But in most cases there is nothing at all after the phone is unlocked. I have to go into the Messages app, and there I can see the message at the top of the list
When I first got my N8-00 I had no problems at all, until 6 months later I dropped it from a height of 2ft. Then I got all the problems, automatically turning off and restarting 100 times a day etc, etc. I took it to my phone supplier who replaced it with a new one, that had the new Anna software installed. Since then whenever I get or make calls the screen goes totally blank.
It is really annoying as I cannot see who is calling or if the call has gone through. I have to manually unlock the phone to attend the call. Also having problems answering the calls as sometimes I have to press the answer button 3-4 times. Finally now 3 months after having this phone it has started turning off and restarting automatically, but only about once a week, so far. I have all the latest Anna updates but these problems still persist.
My N8's display always turns totally black when there is an incoming call, or even when thealarm rings. Before can see the caller's name and answer the call, I have to disable the screen's "keylock".I tried to find a point in the phone settings wher I can avoid this, but didn't find any.
is there any way off blocking certain incoming numbers or groups on X3-02 i get a lot of unnecessary people ringing me i have looked but cant seem to find any way of doing this?
Certain numbers saved on my new blackberry, when calling me, only show the number not the name! They are saved so I cannot understand why! this happens for some numbers only.on SMS and calling me.
I have a blackberry curve 8520 for the past week, all the calls that I receive show as "unknown numbers" they're all saved in my contacts but no name on numbers appears, when the phone rings it says "unknown numbers", I did not have this problem before so I don't understand what's happening anything needs to be change in my settings?
how to set the phone up so that I can view incoming/missed calls numbers? what happens now that all phone calls are just recorded as "unknown"on the screen, even for those I've already saved in the contact list. or should I contact my network provider which is optus in Australia?
Incoming call numbers displayed as unknown even it is stored in contacts. but for outgoing call the names and number are displayed what is the cause for it?
Some incoming text messages display a blue question mark when viewing my inbox rather than the text message icon and cannot be opened or read using voice reader.Doesn't seem to relate to network coverage as it has happened when I have had a full signal. It's an intermittent fault but an irritating one.
i tried to restore my iphone from the phone itself but it didnt turn it on...it showed to connect to itunes...while connecting to itunes,,it says.."your phone is in restore mode" but while restoring again from itunes, its showing errors...
iTunes states that it cannot back up my iPhone because the backup is corrupted or not compatible with the iPhone. I have deleted the backup from iTunes, but it doesn't work. What do I do?
Instead of giving me an error message Itunes is now beginning the restore process only to stop with no error message or failure message, just a small portion of the progress bar filled.
I got a Nokia 5030 yesterday but I have quite an annoying problem. All numbers that call me come up as Witheld! Does anyone know why this is and what I can do to solve the problem?
I am very interested about the Nokia E52. I think it is a good phone. I have a question though, is it true that you can't 'use detail' on an incoming SMS? ( i.e. someone sent you an SMS with a telephone number, you have to WRITE IT DOWN for you to save it. call it, etc..., you can't just 'use number'...), I am very bothered by this because this feature is so basic that it is included almost on all mobile phones... and SHOULD be included as well. By the way, I've read about this article on a e52 review from a website. Please tell me if the review is true or false.
