iTunes states that it cannot back up my iPhone because the backup is corrupted or not compatible with the iPhone. I have deleted the backup from iTunes, but it doesn't work. What do I do?

Today my JB'd 3G on 3.1.2 went into a funky state and I attempted to reboot. Since then I've been stuck on the Apple logo at start up and nothing.
So, i put the phone in DFU mode and Itunes 9 is giving me the option to "Update & Restore", HOWEVER, I dont want to do this because I want to stay on 3.1.2 for obvious reasons. I also have been reading stuff about SHSH but I have no clue what this is so one can assume I never did anything prior regarding SHSH.
When itunes has the pop up on the screen saying "update and restore" can I hold "shift and click "update&restore" to choose a 312 ipsw, or is that option only available if restoring without being in DFU mode.
My IPhone 5c stopped alerting me to text messages. I have gone into settings, went to sounds, scrolled down to messages & selected an alert tone. IPhone will only vibrate on texts, volume is turned up. It stopped ringing for phone calls too and will only vibrate.  It is super armored with an Otterbox and has not been dropped or broken.Â
I turned off vibrate. I have even went to Settings General and Reset the Phone totally.Â
Volume is turned up. Text and Ringtone for Calls was set in settings. It plays them fine when I choose them.Â
I have no more updates available for the phone   Update is current OS 7.1.2

All of the phone numbers in my Contacts database are stored using the international format with the country code included. For example:
0410 XXX XXX
is stored as:+61410 XXX XXX
So the country code has been included (+61 for Australia in this example) and the leading zero has been dropped. Pretty standard stuff and it ensures that you can make the call no matter where you are in the world.
This is how all of my numbers were stored in my N8 and all Nokia phones before it.
When I transfered all of my contacts to my new 808 it can't deal with it. When I get a phone call, the 0410 XXX XXX number comes up on the screen without a name or a photo. The 808 doesn't recognise that it's the same as the +61410 XXX XXX number in my Contacts database.
Are others having this issue? Is this a bug with the 808? It's a bit of a disaster for me because I no longer know who is calling because I don't recognise the numbers.My friend got an 808 at the same time as me and his has exactly the same problem too.
My blackberry curve 8520 seems to think I have 26 new messages and have tried every thing.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI havent had my blackberry curve too long but as of yesterday it wont alert me to text messages anymore. i had set it to chime and vibrate before, which it did. but now the only indicatior i have is the little red light. iv checked all the obvious thing in settings but nothing works now please someone tell me how to fix this, its pretty pointless if you dont know when you have a message!

I want to set the alert and have it remind me every two minutes of so that I have new messages and or missed calls. This is how my old phones used to work...
