Nokia Nseries :: 5800 Not Restarting After Software Update 60.0.0.3
Nov 15, 2011
I updated my Nokia 5800 to v 60.0.0.3 using nokia suite. Earlier I had version 52.0.0.7. After updating, the screen on my PC said "your device will restart" But it never did. Now when I press power button, I get a short vibration. That's all. No display or light or sound.
my nokia 5800 has been weird for some time now ..it restarts itself every now and then it has like vertical grey and black lines ..and red and black horizontal lines other times ..now it just restarted itself and i found NO MESSAGES anymore .. all my files were gone it was overloaded with +1000 inboxes and sent items ..but how come i get to lose them in a glance?
i am using Nokia 5800 rm-356 and lives in India but i am not able to figure out how to update it's software to v60. currently i am suing v52 and surely like to upate it Firmware either by Nokia Suite or by FOTA.
During the last phase of the update, the phone didn't start up and I pressed the power on button by removing the USB and the phone didn't start up. It just keeps vibrating.
If I try and switch an alarm off when it is rining, I am unable to do so using the touch screen.I have to press the red button, then go into the alarms and physically remove the alarm. This never happened with v30 (the last firmware I had)How can I stop it from happening?
I tried a lot of methods to solve this problem (restart, reflash, hard and soft reset, run it without memory card, put papers near the battery, changed some settings..) - anything doesn't work for me. I know that on net are a lot of topics like this one, but i think i tried all recommended solutions to solve it.. I updated my 5800XM to v50 firmware, after it was done, i started it and i enjoyed the KS, music player etc.. But after a while (like 3-4mins) my phone restarts (restart without needed to insert PIN code). I said, it's ok. But now it restarts every 3-4 mins. I found the solution - when the screen is not lighting (sleeping), it wouldn't restart. But i need to work with it, so this is useless.. Any help please?
I have bought a new 5800 5 days ago and i have been using it without a sim card. There was no problem. Yesterday i started using it with my sim card and it kept restarting itself. My version is v50 and i have already tried hard and soft reset. Also no problem with memory card. I tried my friends sim on my phone and still same problem.my apps are from ovi store . On offline mode it works fine but when i start to use sim card it reboots in 3 minutes. Any ideas before a nokia care center?
recently i had updated my firmware through phone itself, after that its getting restarted automatically once or twice in a day. Since the problem persists i reinstalled the s/w through system also.but the problem is still there.
After succesfull upgrading to Symbian Belle(111.030.0609) my Nokia N8 has started self restarting. It restart more than 20 times a day, even if no application is running and all widgets are closed. I reinstalled Symbian Belle, but nothing changed. With Symbian Anna i haven't noticed that my Nokia N8 has performed self restart.
here are reports of N8 getting stuck, crashing, freezing during a simple voice call or using Ovi Maps / GPS or doing simple operations in some applications. There are reports N8 auto-restarts, reboots by itself. There are reports N8 is bricked, dead. t cannot start anymore.1. Is this freezing a problem only with N8 or does it happen ith C7, C6 or other Symbian^3 phones?. . . . (like E7 for the guys who got earlier a review unit)2. Does the freezing of the OS occurs with Symbian s60v5 as well -ike N97, Nokia 5800, 5230?
I have a N8 well kept, always updated, never flashed, properly soft formatted before updating to belle. I thought that belle would have been fantastic. It really is not.Consider that as I type this text from my n8, the browser has freezed twice, the phone has rebooted once. And I only have apps compatible with belle on my phone. It took 2 minutes to switch from Italian language to English!
My Nokia 5230 is turning into black/white screen & restarts automatically while trying to do tasks like msg, playing music. Done software reset..But still facing the same issue, done servicing, no of times but no use..
my n900 restarts everytime it goes to sleep wether it times out or i use the slide lock thing, i have flashed the firmware with the newest and the oldest ones using the NSU and the flasher util, I have also flashed the emmc. The code when using terminal with cat /proc/bootreason is 32wd_to everytime. The only time it doesnt reboot is when I have media player open playing a song in which case it work as it is suppoed to. I can use the device for hours without a reboot aslong as I dont let it go to sleep.
I've just used Ovi Suite to install the update v20.0.005 to my X6 16gb and now the phone keeps restarting. Before I installed the update, I did a back up of my phone contents. Now, after the update I can't restore the backup because the phone keeps restarting. My Ovi Suite is the latest version (v2.1.1.1). Is this a known issue and when will Nokia be releasing a patch for this update to fix the issue?
I have a Nokia 5230 new phone which I purchased during March-2010. Yesterday, I update the firmware of my phone from v12.0.089 to v20.0.005.The update was done through the Nokia Software Updater and it was successful. However, after that the phone started behaving abnormally and it is getting restarted automatically. For example: whenever any call is coming and I want to receive that call, i click on the receive call button and then the phone gets restarted automatically. Similarly, even if I reject the call, it restarts.Kindly let me know what is the issue and how to fix the same.

I bought a used 5800, and yes, it is a old, 2,5 year old phone with latest software, works good. Only problem is that the vibration doesnt work. No matter is it on or off on profiles, it doesnt vibrate. And it doesnt vibrate even when i turn phone on, like my old 5230 did always vibrate when it boots up, my 5800 doesnt. What is wrong, why vibration doesnt work when someone calls or sends message, or not even vibrating in boot up, boots normally, no vibration.. Is the vibration function broken?
And my model is 5800d-1, is other models always too 5800d-1, or is my different and if yes, what is difference to other 5800's? This is a 2,5 year old Black and Red 5800. Using 52.0.007 firmware.

Okay, I know what you're thinking...USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION! But I have and I have tried all the solutions I could find on google and here. I've tried turning it on with just the bat, bat/mem, bat/sim, etc charged my phone and what not and still nothing. It just won't turn on.I even tried hard resetting it but nothing works. When I press and hold the power button it just vibrates once and doesn't do anything. When I hook it up to the pc, it recognizes that there's a nokia phone there...I think...but it only does when you click and hold power and i vibrates.
I have set up new mailbox to recieve my emials. Everything works fine, connection is OK, I can even send emails but when I go to retrieve emails, all, the mail box shows empty. Yet I know that I have loads of emails in my outlook.
Ok, lots of posts on how to clear the memory in my 5800 express music: I hit *#7370# to reset, and whoopee my available memory jumps from 700Kb to 73Mb. But then when I start to reinstall the apps I've lost. I've only installed ViewRanger (1.7Mb), and the memory has already dropped to 28Mb. I daren't install anything else. Is there any way to stop this problem recurring?
After recent upgrade to v 60.0.003, my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic does not seem to be working properly with my car bluetooth kit. It connects to the car kit alright, and the incoming call's ringtone is heard on the car kit and the call can also be accepted by pressing the green button on the car kit but the call voice (both mike and speaker) remains with the phone and does not come over the car stereo. If I look at the phone screen during the call, there is an option to activate the speaker but none to transfer the call to bluetooth device. I have tried fiddling with options in Accessories - > Car kit, as well as the bluetooth options, to no avail. Tried re-pairing but that didn;t help either.
my phone fell down and the touchscreen is broken. I figured out, that the contacts are not saved on my sim-card nor on the sd-card, but internally. I want to sync it with nokia suite, but I need to activate the connection with the phone first, as I suppose. Is there another way to, maybe bypass the connection-selection-screen on the phone or automatically setting up a connection?
Is it possible to some how to move messages from one phone to another. (Nokia 5800 to C6-01).Tried it with create a backup from 5800 and then restore to C6-01 but only part of messages were moved.
I often use wireless, but sometimes it has poor signal and is impossible to use so I also use simple mobile internet. Usually the phone using opera mini asks if you want to use mobile internet (not wireless) but now it almost never does, so I get the connection error message as there is no wireless, but I also cannot use my mobile internet. Just today it gave me problems because of that. So bassicly, I cannot use internet, unless I have good wireless signal. And I have mobile internet as priority number 1 in my settings. So is there something else to do? This problem is appearing and dissapearing. Thought could be from bad wireless, it kinda locks itself on it or something, but turning off the phone doesn't help.
I've had this phone for years and have got some important info on this phone and i really need it back working. So 2 days ago i dropped my phone from a tall building by accident and the screen is no longer working. When i dropped it the battery came out and nothing else. I put the battery back in and the screen worked for a little bit but there was horizontal lines going across the screen so i turned it off and turned it back on and now the screen shows nothing. The green, white and red lights work at the bottom and the sound works when i turn it on. Even when i tap the screen i can feel the phone vibrate a little as if to say ive selected my contacts for something but the screen is completely blank.
i updated my Nokia N8 Anna to Belle . After updating my phone i see this problem that my phone doesn't show gps information when i capturing any photo. When i try to capture a photo i noticed that gps is not available notification. But when i close my camera option my phone show that gps is available. I also check the settings. Actually what is the problem ? When i entered camera option then gps option show me that its not available but when i close camera option then it show gps is available. When i first bought Nokia n8 its work its gps function properly.
