Aug 11, 2012How can I select highest resolution on automatic mode and scenes mode? It looks like some inportant function is missing. The creative mode is really hard to use. I perfer automatic and scenes mode which is easiler for me but I want it to be the best resolution is there any way because I couldn't find the setting?

Jan 22, 2010At present I am in Japan and using a nokia e61. The operator (Swisscom) is providing the roaming to this country (UMTS voice), the 3G coverage is good and similar devices with the same contract are working fine. In the UMTS mode, no connection is established in the automatic mode.
When switched to the manual search mode, the device detects the local 3G operators ( DoCoMo, SoftBank). Forced to connect to the network, the device tries for a couple of minutes and returns the "no access" message. I have the impression of a reduced device sensitivity.
The SIM card has been replaced recently and the firmware is up to date. In the GSM mode the device works perfectly.

Dec 9, 2011whenever i start some of my phone applications, like web, make a call, receive a call, start maps, my phone automatically switches off even if the battery is full. And when i restart my phone, it switches off again after displaying the nokia logo or just after the main screen is displayed. The same process continues repeatedly. Is my N8's battery not working correctly?

Dec 23, 2012how the automatic time update function works on the Nokia 701 and the like? Mine is enabled and seems to update when my phone connects to a data source (e.g. when retrieving email or when browsing websites) but the time retrieved seems to be about two minutes slow. Where does the phone get it's time signal from? Is this a network thing (i.e. it is Orange that is running slow) or does it obtain the time from a Nokia server?
Finally can I change the server it obtains the time from?

Most devices with the sensor can disable it. Android of course, but even Apple device can! This is blasphemy! Apple having greater customisability than Nokia?

Sep 25, 2012So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode.This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode.So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!

Oct 3, 2012(This bug was also present in the betalabs version) It is possible to select 88.10MHz using the rolling wheels, but if you then select another frequency (either using the rolling wheels or one of the three recently used frequency buttons) you can't then reselect 88.10MHz using one of the the three recently used frequency buttons. It's as if a button with '88.10MHz' written in it gets ignored if pressed. I suspect a 'greater than or equal to 88.1' has got coded as 'greater than 88.1' in a line of code, thus causing this bug. It only seems to affect 88.1MHz. 88.2MHz works fine, as do the others.

Nokia Nseries :: N8 Stuck In Offline Mode?
Oct 11, 2011My N8 is stuck in offline mode. I have tried changing the profile, hard resetting, factory reset, another sim in my phone, my sim in another phone (both of which worked fine in other phone).I should also say that the phone had a fault before this. The battery ran dry and would not charge, I contacted my mobile company (virgin mobile) and they told me to send my phone in.
I received my phone back saying they could not fix the fault and it was not covered by the warranty. I tried to turn it on last night and it switched on, great I thought and put my sim back in but nothing. I checked the sim slot on the side of the phone and I can see that all the pins are fine and not bent or have been moved in any way.

May 24, 2010I've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.

Aug 6, 2012I've just came back to the Symbian fold after a long hiatus (my last Symbian device being Panasonic X800 with S60 2nd Edition). There's some learning curve, but so far I'm really enjoying my Nokia 808.
Previously, I've been using a Nokia 6700 (S40) as a communication device and iPod Touch as a photo/web viewer/PDA, but I would like to consolidate these functionality into one with 808.
This would mean I would want to be able to automatically sync photos from my PC to my Nokia in addition the the standard Nokia Suite ability to sync from the phone to PC. With iTunes, I would have specified a picture folder and the sync would go both direction with an ability to set folder exceptions if necessary. Would you know if there's a way to do something similar with Symbian devices?
One solution would be to skip Nokia Suite altogether and use something like Microsoft SyncToy in USB Mass Storage mode, but it's not exactly an elegant solution.
