Nokia Nseries :: N8 Network Mode - What Option To Choose
Feb 16, 2012
I have an N8 which has 3 options for network mode - dual mode, 3G or GSM.I have absolutely no idea what any of these mean or what to select !The reason for my question is that I had to put my sim card into another phone for a couple of days and now I've put it back I cannot send texts or make any calls - I can receive them and get on the internet but that's it so I was wondering whether the network mode option has any effect?
I have just upgraded my Nokia N73 to the E72 and am very very disappointed with the picture quality of the camera.
It does not appear to be the same quality as the Carl Zeiss lens of my old N73 and many pictures seem to be out of focus. It has annoying habit of when i try to take a quick snap of continually asking me to chose a shooting mode and the therefore the moment has gone. I also use this camera function for my work and unless I can find advice on taking better quality pics then it will have to go back.Is mine a faulty unit or is there a knack of taking a picture without the camera moving which I think is causing part of the problems.
I am getting a message to choose network connection. --> WiFi --> GPRS packet data
Frequently, I have chosen GPRS as the default priority 1 and automatic connection. Even though I am getting the message, tell me how to block the message.
I upgraded my 3Gs phone to a 4 while away on a trip. I synced with Icloud and have been happily using it. Just plugged it into my computer and am not sure what option (set up as new Iphone or Restore from back up) I need to choose and why.
I set the homescreen on my S2 but every time I press the square button the option returns and I cant find a way of deactivating it. I kill the app but this does not resolve the issue and neither does wiping the phone and starting again.
When my phone went in for repairs they upgraded my OS to 7.1 and now I cannot force change to 2G network mode.I can only choose 3G or 3G and 2G. There is no option for plain 2G like the old OS had.The reason I need to change to 2G is that the 3G coverage at home is not good at all and 2G is better, even though it's slow, it doesn't drop like 3G.Is my only option to downgrade my OS?
I just got a iphone 4s and am having problems with my imessage. I can turn it on using my apple id but my mobile number does not appear anywhere for me to choose it as an option. I keep getting "waiting for activation." The same thing is happening with facetime. I don't have the option to choose a mobile number.
When I go into Wi-Fi Networks under Settings, the Choose a Network doesn't show any networks - just a spinning circle every few seconds, but nothing comes up. My network used to show up here with a check next to it. The bars at the top of the phone show I am connected to Wi-Fi (I am on my network ok), but in Settings it shows Wi-Fi is Not Connected. I have Reset my phone, but it didn't fix it. I am reluctant to Reset Network setting because I won't be able to choose a network if none are showing up.
I have always assigned my left convience key to lock my screen. After updating to 545 I have lost the option to even choose the keypad lock opt. Does neone know where this went? I updated with the official not the beta. Also I notice volume adjustments while on a call is not precise when lowering or raising.
The demo for this phone on the support page indicates I can manually choose which network I am using, however, my actual phone does not have that menu item. The problem I have is when the phone locks me into GPRS, it becomes a virtual paper weight. It works great if I can get it to lock onto Edge by walking around enough. I want to be able to manually choose Edge. Why can't I do this?
How can I select highest resolution on automatic mode and scenes mode? It looks like some inportant function is missing. The creative mode is really hard to use. I perfer automatic and scenes mode which is easiler for me but I want it to be the best resolution is there any way because I couldn't find the setting?
So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode. This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode.So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!
We have 6350s that we've opted for 'voice only' service. Our batteries last for only 2-3 days (primarily in standby); I suspect it's the 3G network that is so parasitic. Has anyone knowledge of how to toggle Network Mode to GSM (etc)?
Is there any remote possibility for Nokia to add a vignetting tool to the photo editors for the N8 (which would hopefully include the 808)?
Vignetting is a pretty powerful tool that can help isolate subjects and seems to be a bit of an oversight on Nokia's part to leave it out, considering how good the cams are and the editors have often a good amount of adjustments that save me from running to Lightroom or Silver Efex Pro all the time.
For some reason after upgrading to Belle I have lost the option to switch geo-tagging on in the camera settings. It is just not there where it used to be. I need this for work, that is why I got myself a camera phone with this option.
Anybody have this problem or am I just looking in the wrong place to switch it on / off? It used to be in the camera settings menu, now I have only: image quality - show captured image - default image name - capture tone - memory in use - restore camera settings.
I bought my 808 in Singapore, a country where other brands of smartphones come with an option to turn off the shutter sound eg HTC Desire S or an option to turn off the shutter sound when phone is in silent mode eg Samsung Galaxy S2. I was disappointed upon purchase of 808 to find that no such option existed.I would like to request Nokia to consider releasing a software update that allows users to turn off the shutter sound either as a setting or when phone is in silent mode. This was what Sony Ericsson did for its K700i model many years ago. There is a need to consider the varied needs of users eg the need not to awaken the baby when getting a shot. I wonder if this post is sufficient to convey my request to Nokia or should I make my request known to Nokia in another way that you can suggest?
Ive configured it to a network connected HDD both locally (preferred option to access music collection for DNLA sharing) and also via HTTP but with no joy.
I have taken thousands of Pureview photos from past two months, only to realize that it became extreamly difficult to search a photo. In Nokia Pureview 808 specification page on web i have seen following features included.Photos viewed byMonthSlide showAlbumTag cloudCamera featuresTime-lapseI have checked Camera UI many time but could not find either Album or Time-lapse options. Please let me know if i am missing some thing here. Also let me know is there atleast any third party sofware to browse though photos easy way?
There used to be an option whereby you could print photos via usb cable to a printer. This option has been removed - was there a reason for this, or is it a bug? It would be great if the developers could issue a small update that would address this problem. My phone (N8) has a fantastic camera and not being able to print photos from it is very disappointing. I know there is a workaround by transferrring photos to a computer first and then printing from there, but that is a hassle and shouldn't be necessary.
(This bug was also present in the betalabs version) It is possible to select 88.10MHz using the rolling wheels, but if you then select another frequency (either using the rolling wheels or one of the three recently used frequency buttons) you can't then reselect 88.10MHz using one of the the three recently used frequency buttons. It's as if a button with '88.10MHz' written in it gets ignored if pressed. I suspect a 'greater than or equal to 88.1' has got coded as 'greater than 88.1' in a line of code, thus causing this bug. It only seems to affect 88.1MHz. 88.2MHz works fine, as do the others.
