It was 5 weeks old and developed a screen issue, went back to repair centre, came back fixed.....All good.....Well no.Now, when the silent icon on the drop down curtain says silent, its not, when you select to change this from the long press of the power on/off button (It gives you a turn device off option, deactivate/activate data, Airplane mode and Silent off and on)The turn on silent mode actually does the opposite?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk so i bought a BB 9630 Tour couple days ago. and i have a question.so i set my girlfriend as a specific ringtone. but i usually use silent when i am at home, and one day she called me and guess what, the phone rang.so here is the question, how do you make the contact ring when it is in like when my normal is activated BUT NOT MY SILENT. cuz when i do silent and when she calls me and my phone rings... it doesnt really make sense cuz i put it as in silent.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, so I'm trying to work out how the silent modes work on my Z3. I'm failing.
Â
So it seems you can press the volume key and by clicking the 'bell' icon I can scroll through 3 different modes: Loud, Vibrate and Silent.
Â
Seems simple enough, only none of these modes silence apps or games at all.
Â
I just want to put my phone on silence/vibrate and know that even apps and games will be silent too.
Â
I thought I could put into vibrate mode and slide the media volume down to zero and it would rememeber it... then putting back into loud mode would make media slider go back to normal volume?... Nope, I have to change it back to loud mode and remember to slide the media volume back to normal...
is there a way to make a specif person's phone number ring even if the phone is on silent mode? I have a baby due any time and would like tohave my phone ready anytime.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an iPhone 3GS. It came with iOS5 preinstalled. I haven't been able to make it go into silent mode. Is there some setting I need to switch?
In my 1st generation iPhone, all I had to do was flip the switch on the side of the iPhone, so that the orange dot would be seen, and it would display the crossed bell graphic and go into silent mode.
When I flip the switch on the iPhone 3GS, nothing happens. It still makes noise when it rings. I tried toggling the setting in "Sounds" which said "Change with Buttons", but the switch still doesn't work. Toggling this setting seems to affect whether the "speaker" graphic is on screen when I press the volume buttons.
It seems that there is no way I can get the ringer switch to do anything. Is there anyway to make this work? Or have I received a defective unit? =S

My iphone 3gs keeps switching between silent and regular modes when I have the silent button depressed. It seems to have a mind of it's own. I'm currently using ios 5.1, but I don't know if this is a software problem or it's something with the phone itself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep my phone on silent while in class, and I recently received an audible alert during lecture while on silent. The alert tone was not one that I have set or recognize, and I was only able to view "iPhone alert" before frantically turning it off. Does anyone know what causes these embarrassing audible alerts while in silent mode or know of a way to check past alerts?

I've had a 3GS iphone for about a year and a half and just last month it has started to randomly vibrate. Whenever I switch it to silent mode I will set my phone down and the bell symbol will continue to pop up as if I'm switching it on and off of silent mode. Every time the symbol pops up it vibrates. Sometimes it will do it five or six times in a row when it's just laying on a table. How I can make it stop?

Has anyone come across an app yet that will allow the phone to still ring even in silent mode?
I want to be able to NOT hear any of the emails or texts at night when I go to sleep but at the same time, I want to be able to have the phone ring through from certain contacts - in case of emergencies from my parents or my son.

2 days ago i was stuck in rain n my mobile (iphone 5) got wet and n later on i found the ring/silent switch not working. my phone is on vibration mode even if i m switching it to ring mode, ring mode is nt working at all. Â
is it software problem or hardware problem or something else such as water damage
I have a new iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1.2 and have the same problem that affected my previous iphone 4S with IOS 8.1.1: when audio is turned off using the hardware switch on the left side I am still able to play audio from my video library or other apps like whatsapp or similar. Even if I go into settings >> sound and look at ringtones they are able to play (also with earphone). Furthermore it happens that recording videos in silent mode doesn't record the audio but only video.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a need to have text (SMS) messages to wake me, but I dno't want general emails to wake me at night. My iPhone 4s spends most of its life in silet mode, but I need all text messages to be obnoxious so that they will make me. When I had a BLackberry I could set different message notification types for example I can always have text messages loud but could silence anything else. I'm toying aroudn with setting the contact SMS to be the Alarm tone but I'm not sure how this iwll work when I have it in silent...
I've read articles on Google where I'm not the only person seeking this functionality; the most recent article was a doctor that was on-call. While I'm not a doctor, I do work an on-call position.

My iPhone 5 doesn't vibrate when a call comes-in and in Silent mode.
The option is turned-on in settings to Vibrate the phone with ring or in Silent mode. Tried resetting the phone to factory settings and restored back from iTunes, same issue.

I was wondering if someone could help. I own an iPhone 3Gs and for some reason when in silent mode, the phone doesnt vibrate when i receive a new text message (sms). It vibrates when I receive a call in silent mode, and also when i receive a reminder from Intelliscreen alerting me of a missed call or new sms.
Basically the vibration function works for everything except when i receive a new sms in silent mode and when i flip the swtich from silent to ring (and vice versa).
Due to the above, i can only assume that its not a hardware issue since it does actually vibrate. this happened a few months after purchasing (and jailbreaking) the phone so i can only assume that this is being caused by an app that I have installed since it was fine for the first few months. I have checked the settings on the phone a million times (vibrate is on for silent and ring) and I cant work out why this is happening.
I have statusnotifier, ireal sms (v2) and quicksms installed. i dont know if they're causing the issue but i have installed them and the prob still remains. Is anybody else having the same problem or can advise on how to solve the problem? ive searched long and hard on the net and connot find a solution.
have my iPhone in Silent Mode, but still be able to receive emergency phone calls from pre-determined telephone numbers?
