Nokia :: N97 - Not Displaying Names Of Contacts In Message Folder
Jan 22, 2010
It's not displaying names of the contacts in message folder but instead is displaying ONLY numbers. This is creating difficulty for me to go back in contacts and see which person is sending SMS.
N97...v2.1....the names of the callers are not displaying.i have numbers saved to my SIM card and my phone memory.the calls that have not displayed are from both the SIM only and the favourites on phone memory.why would this be happening and how should i fix it? it used to be okay.in the numbers called i have some numbers from today that are not displayed and a number from the 8th feb that is named.

I've been using using my E51 for about 2 years, and it suddenly stopped displaying the contact names for SMS messages. There are no duplicates in the contact list. The thing is, it's started when I synced my phone with Ovi online.Could anybody find a solution for this ?It's quite annoying not having the names of the contacts
I am facing a problem in new Nokia 701 device. When I plays any radio station through Nokia Internet Radio, It doesn't shows 'song and artist names'. I have been used latest and older version of internet radios but function still not working.
When I go into the text messages app, it only shows the current day's messages and the time that I received them. No contact name, no number. I've played around with it a bit, but cant figure out where to even begin addressing this.
I recently switched out my Curve 9350 under warranty, since the old one was overheating and draining the battery. The first one I had didn't have this issue, from the get-go it showed contact names, pictures, and broke the messages down into days, but I could scroll and view all of them. My new one has only shown my text messages in the way I described above.
Many names in the address book not showing up. Hence, when I get a call or make one, the name doesn't come up with the number. After the call, the number with the name is visible in call log as outgoing or incoming or missed. In the database details it shows my address book having 238 numbers (these are the numbers currently visible). So how is it that the names are visible in the log and not in the address book and also not visible during a call.
My satio is not displaying any name or number during an incoming call.it display as '"call" calling'.even for the saved contact number also.if i go check in the call log list it display as "no number".I am not able to make out who is calling, atleast it should display the number for new incoming numbers , for saved contacts and for new unsaved numbers its displaying same thing "call", its gone crazy.please anyone help me to solve this problem.
I have a 701. When looking at grouped sms messages I no longer see them described by users name (when the contact is in my contact list). Instead, every message is identified by the phone number. So whereas before I could easily id them now its more difficult. Anyone know how I can get the original setting back? Messaging is set to display in groups.
I've been transferring some favourite ringtones onto my E6. Now when you personalise a profile and go to select a ringtone, you are given some location options, Download sound clips, tones, songs and sound clips.
The ringtones aren't songs so I'm not saving them with my music otherwise the media player will just treat them as music. So that rules out "songs" Tones seems to be a system folder in which the standard ringtones are saved and to which the user is not allowed to even see, never mind access.
So I decided I'll manually save my ringtones in the "sound clips" folder. I have tried saving my ringtones into the folder called "sound clips" which appears on all three drives, the phone memory, mass memory and memory card yet still nothing appears in "sound clips" selection when attempting to select a ringtone.
I hope I'm not missing something obvious here but does anyone know where the "sound clips" folder used by the ringtone selector is actually located?
As an aside, have you noticed when you browse the folders of the E6 using the built in file manager and then do the same from your PC via a USB connection, some of the folders have completely different names. Hardly logical or intuitive and it makes life difficult for numb nuts here trying to find his ringtones.
All my email folders have names (ie the email address). However one of them has (-1) in front of the email address (a google one). I have not seen this before. Has anyone else experienced the phenomena?
I used Apps Organizer to create folders of related apps (like Games, Japanese, etc) to go on to my home screen. I rather like it. Just one irritation, to which I wonder if anyone has a solution. If I switch the phone off for any reason, when I switch it back on, the folders are all still on the home screen, with the icon I have attributed to the folder, but the names all change to 'Apps label'.
recently, whenever I recieve a message, there is no info bar displaying "1 New Message" on the home screen and there is no little envelope in the top right corner... so therefore i keep having to go to my messages and checking my inbox every 5 seconds to see if i have a message...
I'm still getting the little notification light when the phone is locked... but that's it!
The contacts stored on my phone's memory are not being displayed. If I change the "Contacts to display" option to phone memory and sim memory, or sim memory alone for that matter, it displays all the contacts stored on my sim, however no contacts are displayed when I choose phone memory alone. I have tried copying all my contacts from sim back to the phone and still nothing. It's weird because when I do a memory details check on my phone's memory, it's saying that there are 83 contacts stored. Even if I try to manually add a new contact to the phone memory, it STILL is not showing up in my contacts list. I have had this phone about 5 months now and this problem only occurred about a week ago, before that everything was working just fine.
This is so basic that I must have missed it.On the X6, is there any way of diplaying the name AND NUMBER of your contacts in a list, without having to click on the name?
The 5800 and 5530 don't dispaly the name of the sender when a text message is received, right, Well so I thought. and I wasn't too happy about it as all my previous phones had this facility. Then a few days ago I got a message on my 5530 and when I looked at the screen there waa white star overlaying the image of the sender on my contacts bar. Great, I thought, I'd never noticed that before! But how could this be? I haven't had a firmware upgrade or anything. Since then I've found that I occasionally get the star on messages from this one contact, but not on messages from any of my other contacts. What's going on? I've searched the web and can find no references to this at all.Have any other users noticed this feature? And can anyone explain why it doen't work for all contacts?
So while using categories I noticed when you put in certain folder names the icons will sometimes automatically change to correspond to the theme you are using.I have only done this with 2 names: "Games" and "Apps"
I tried searching google for a specific list of names I could make them that would go with my theme but then realized its theme specific. Any ideas or can any1 teach me how to check? Im using glassklart and there are thousands of app icons so I imagine there are some other folder names that will do what I want that I simply just cant think of.
Upgraded my Nokia N8-00 to Nokia Belle today. Everything is great - phone feels much faster, menus are speedier, looks are stunning, no hitches or data loss during upgrade (except for few applications like Fring which disappeared). So congratulations on your fabulous work on the Belle firmware!A big grouse however is the redesign of the Messaging application. I am used to seeing the good old folder-based view of Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. as soon as I open the Messaging app (I'm sure that's the case with most people). However, in Belle, when I open Messaging, I see all my messages from all folders in one place (arranged by date & time). This is very, very confusing and not pleasant at all, since messaging is one of the most important things done on a phone, even today.I know I can still see the folder-based view by clicking on the rightmost option in taskbar and selecting "View folders". But I don't want to be doing that everytime.
have just got my 8520 and connected my email addresses. Everything is showing up in both the Message folder and SMS folder. How can I keep the Message folder just for my email and the SMS just for my text messages?
I have very strange problem with my Blackberry phones ( Bold 9900 and Torch 9800) - when somebody is calling me , I see the number, but I cannot see the name. I am sure that I do not have duplicate contacts - two contacts and one phone number.
while texting, some of my names on contacts changed into just their numbers. they are also gone in my contact list. did a hrad reset and nothing changes.
When I upgraded my iPhone, my contact list was scrambled, some listed by first names, some my last. Seri cannot understand my accent. I want my contacts listed by first names.
I have my phone configured to display SMS texts as a chat in 'bubble' format and also to combine email and SMS in one queue. However when I click the Message icon from the home window (ie when there's an asterisk on the corner in indicating a new message) it does not position the screen at the bottom of the text chat, but halfway up. I then have to scroll down to see the last message - this also happens if i want to text someone.
I replaced my old iphone 3gs by a new iphone 4s. After 2 weeks the new iphone was stolen but, when i tried to go back to my old iphone 3gs (with a new sim card), it kept displaying a "no service" message after I updated it to ios 5.1. I got back all the information stored in iCloud and iTunes and all the applications work fine, except for the telephone service. I tried changing different sim cards (including different telephone lines) but the problem remains. The phone worked perfectly well before this incident started.
