Nokia :: N97 Mini / OVI Maps 3.03 / Traffic Updates
Jan 21, 2010
Just downloaded and installed the new free Ovi Maps on my Nokia n97 mini. looks great, works great except I cannot see anywhere to purchase or activate Traffic/Speed camera updates! Are these settings free now too or do I need to buy the updates like before? and if so where?
My traffic updates have stopped working and I don't know why. They were updating fine until about 4 days ago, and now everytime I click on update traffic info, it does the check, and no traffic info comes through. I'm from the UK, using the 5800 XpressMusic with the latest Ovi Maps App.
I have a Lumia 920. I've been trying to use traffic updates with Nokia maps in the Los angeles area.It appears that every tiem you zoom out, traffic does not update.
Are people still receiving traffic information in the UK. It worked for about 2 weeks on the latest update (the free one of course!), but now it updates but doesn't download any new information and says its updated at so-and-so time.
I've been using Nokia Maps for my 5800 and have been very impressed (its not perfect but given its free). However, the only one bit that seems to *never* work is the traffic updates (I have tried several times). When using navigation, I choose update traffic¯, it says updated successfully¯ but I see no traffic anywhere (on the map, on the traffic update screen)Any ideas?
I purchased my 5800 Xpress Music to replace both my old phone and my Garmin sat-nav. I have been using the Ovi Maps satnav regularly for several months (and am delighted with it)but never seem to get any traffic information - even when my car's built-in Traffic Master is warning me of congestion ahead.I have the phone set to update traffic information every five minutes but, to date, have never received anything! I don't even know how the information is presented when it arrives!
On my new Lumia 920, Nokia maps is not showing traffic info for me. I have already updated to 3.0, but when I set the map view to traffic info, nothing happens.
WIth the builtin Bing maps however (which is not directly accessible, but for example when clicking on a contact's address), traffic info works just fine. I'm in Germany, so it's not about the coverage.
using Ovi Maps 3.03. Sorry if this has been asked already but a couple of things :How do I check what maps are actually installed on my phone? How do I know if there are newer map versions available than whats installed on my phone?Im asking this because I noticed the Ireland map on maps.ovi.com is more up to date than whats on my phone. I installed the Ireland map again using ovi suite on my pc but it's still missing some new details that are found on the maps.ovi.com map.
Just curious since we're all on the same page. What do you guys use for GPS on your phones? Is there a paid for app that includes Traffic updates? Id use VZ Navigator but not for 10.00 a month.
It's becoming clear that after adding support for the e71 and e66 no other "old" device will be migrated to the last ovi maps.these older devices will stick to 3.01 and the 10$ annual fee per region.ok let's accept this but...
it has been widely reported that the routing algorithm has some flaws in choosing the best route. there are many examples in this forum.so i expect that it will be impoved in the future.these improvements will be only for devices running 3.03 and later or will be they be backported also to 3.01?this is quite important because a bad routing algorithm is very bad for a navigation application even if it is "cheap".
Ovi Suite erases all the maps in my phone and then updates maps very, very, slowly. Can I download the files with my download manager and then copy it to the phone, or install in the phone with Ovi? If the answer is no, why? Can you imagine another way to download the new maps?
Is there a way to disable APN without disabling data traffic? I have seen some different apps doing it, but how can I do it manually? I ask because I only use wifi and not 3G.
I just upgraded my Xperia Mini from Gingerbread (Gb) to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Recently, i'm facing some difficulties where my Data Traffic suddenly disable after i close my browser or any app.Fyi, i used packet data and i leave my phone connected to the internet without restriction in case ther is any update / email / notification pop up. So now, when this things occurs, i have to enable back my data traffic everytime it disable.
I don't always use the internet on my phone so i turn on data traffic only when i need it. but sometimes it does not automatically connect (the down/upload status is not visible) that i just usually restart my phone. Is this advisable and will it have any bad effect (such as phone deterioration and lower battery life) on my phone?
In a nutshell, I have my N97 mini setup and connecting to the internet perfectly, letting me navigate to web pages as normal. Despite this, when I try using OVi maps, or even Google maps it will not connect to the internet.. "Connection Failed" Every time. It will ask me which connection to use - I select the connection I use for the internet and it does not work. I have also tried using the WAP connection which also, does not work!
A while ago I upgraded the Ovi Maps app on my N97 Mini to the latest version, the one with free navigation and a new menu screen. It worked fine for a few days. Now it refuses to work: When I start the application, no matter what I do or which sub-menu I enter, the application exits/dies in a few seconds and I'm back to the phone's main menu screen.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app from Ovi Store, but the same nonsense is happening again. The app just does not work for more than 10 seconds. Even if I keep entering data or going from one sub menu to another, within 10 seconds of starting the app, it disappears and I'm back to the main menu. (I've checked to see that the app is not continuing in the background. It's not it truly is gone.
I just bought a new n97 mini through vodafone in aus. I got it unlocked so i could put my optus sim in.I downloaded the ovi maps application and went to use it. The ovi maps app works with my wlan internet at home but when I try to use my 3G optus network internet it says "connection unavailable- please try again"?
I can access my 3G optus network for all other internet purposes on my phone except ovi maps. What is wrong with it?
A colleague who owns the N97 mini has just installed maps, and after rebooting his phone, it won't start it displays the white 'NOKIA' screen for approx 1 minute before switching off (it's fully charged). No key presses etc help, we can't get past the nokia screen.
He then asked me to reboot my N97 (not mini) and sure enough have the same issue, however after several attempts at switching on, I've managed to get mine to start, by seemingly pressing random buttons. I've tried this a few times now, and by repeatedly pressing right on the D pad, enter, and the camera button, my phone starts OK.
I only received my phone back from repair yesterday, and it was freshly flashed with the latest '3' firmware (my colleagues N97 mini is a virgin branded phone), and OVI maps was a suggested update yesterday nothing else has been installed on my phone since that.
I installed some maps and Voices on my Nokia N97 mini using Ovi maps 3.03. The installed Voices can be shown within the app (Navigation setup, installed Voices are marked). But I cannot check if the maps I downloaded are installed properly! I tried to check with Noia Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 and it says "No maps installed". Same problem with Nokia Maps loader 3.0.24.0. It's no matter if I install the maps using Map Loader or Ovi Suite -> same problem. Well, I installed the maps on External Memory Card - but this should not be the problem?!
I would appreciate your help to identify the maps I have installed in my Nokia N97 mini. Through the Nokia Map Loader was not possible. Can you guys please help me?
I'm attempting to use Map Loader 3.0.28.0 to load Maps onto my N97 Mini ( software version 10.0.020, 14-10-09 ), on which I have installed the latest Maps version ( 3.03 10wk01 b05 ). I've run this Maps more than once, and the cities folder exists on my E: ( Mass Memory ) drive. There is no 'F:' drive ( i.e. no memory card ). When I connect my phone to the PC, I start it in PC Suite mode. Using PC Suite 7.1, I am able to interact with my phone.
When I start Map Loader, it says 'You have connected at least one phone without a valid Maps drive. Either you are using an old Maps version - then you must update your Maps application or reconnect your phone in mass storage mode - or you have never started your Maps application - then you have to start the Maps application once and restart Map Loader'. Connecting in Mass Storage mode does not seem to help.
I have an active subscription for Traffic and Safety Europe, which costs me around 3 Euro a month. Is traffic information included in the now free navigation service offered by Nokia?
I own two E90, on one of them I have licensed City Explorer and Drive Europe. Then I bought a Traffic & Security license as an option, but I made a mistake and used the wrong E90 with a different CIM card.
How can I transfer the Traffic & Security License to the E90 where my Drive Europe license is?
I have PC Companion installed and the and update service installed. When following the instructions, I get to the download bit and it starts and then just stops. An error message then comes up saying that there was problems with the internet (despite me being on broadband) and using the internet at the same time. Firewalls are all ok and all working. Battery life is 77%.
I'm running android 2.3.4(official), If I unlock my xperia mini bootloader, can I update/repair my phone software through Sony PC Companion or Sony Update service??
How works the traffic info in Nokia Drive? I mean, I see no option to activate/deactivate it. Does it allow to change the route according to traffic? Can we setup this?
Well i've had a couple of software updates appear and click on them the screen loads and goes back to my main screen. Also when i click on marketplace it loads goes black and goes back to my main screen any idea how to fix it?
