My traffic updates have stopped working and I don't know why. They were updating fine until about 4 days ago, and now everytime I click on update traffic info, it does the check, and no traffic info comes through. I'm from the UK, using the 5800 XpressMusic with the latest Ovi Maps App.

I have been using the Ovi Maps satnav regularly for several months (and am delighted with it)but never seem to get any traffic information - even when my car's built-in Traffic Master is warning me of congestion ahead.I have the phone set to update traffic information every five minutes but, to date, have never received anything! I don't even know how the information is presented when it arrives!

WIth the builtin Bing maps however (which is not directly accessible, but for example when clicking on a contact's address), traffic info works just fine. I'm in Germany, so it's not about the coverage.
using Ovi Maps 3.03. Sorry if this has been asked already but a couple of things :How do I check what maps are actually installed on my phone?How do I know if there are newer map versions available than whats installed on my phone?Im asking this because I noticed the Ireland map on maps.ovi.com is more up to date than whats on my phone. I installed the Ireland map again using ovi suite on my pc but it's still missing some new details that are found on the maps.ovi.com map.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps:
1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
It's becoming clear that after adding support for the e71 and e66 no other "old" device will be migrated to the last ovi maps.these older devices will stick to 3.01 and the 10$ annual fee per region.ok let's accept this but...
it has been widely reported that the routing algorithm has some flaws in choosing the best route. there are many examples in this forum.so i expect that it will be impoved in the future.these improvements will be only for devices running 3.03 and later or will be they be backported also to 3.01?this is quite important because a bad routing algorithm is very bad for a navigation application even if it is "cheap".

Can I download the files with my download manager and then copy it to the phone, or install in the phone with Ovi? If the answer is no, why? Can you imagine another way to download the new maps?

Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked.
Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI updated my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic firmware to the latest version yesterday and I also installed the latest Ovi maps through Ovi Suite and everything installed successfully. However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.

So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions.
1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC?
2.As i´ve read some of the thread regarding Ovi mapsthat in some case i maybe have to uninstall the old version. But when i check it through Application manager i couldn´t find neither ovi maps or nokia map but there is an Ovi store client in there.
3.Off topic. I wonder why when i start my fone sometimes some of the pictures in the contacts bar is not really in phocus? any suggestion?
I have 5800 XM with firmware v50.0.005 and ovi maps v3 But whenever i try opening ovi maps it opens and closes automaticaly within 3seconds I have uninstaled the ovi maps and instald it again,i have also restored my phone to factory settings and then updatd my firmware and ovi maps But the problem with the OVI maps not working continues Does anyone else face the same problem Can someone help me find a solution?

View 13 Replies View Relatedthere are few things that should be better, for instance I can't use Ovi Suite as it doesn't support synch with Lotus Notes yet, so I still use PC Suite. Now I'm becoming crazy and maybe someone can give me some explanation. I tried to download the maps with the Map Loader, I can see on the left part of the window a lot of maps, but I do not se any info on which map is already installed ! Is it normal? And moreover, I'm not convinced by the amount of memory left on my SD card, the map loader show an amount and Windows a competely different.. who's lying?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a nokia 5800 version 31.0.101 when I go to OVI maps no map is loaded the GPS works but the maps do not its all green, I can zoom out and see the world but if I zoom in there's nothing, it was working for my local area but I could not search or see anywhere else, I traveled 100 miles yesterday from where I lived but the map never loaded when I got there either.Today I have reinstalled the latest maps, (over written) that didn't work in fact I lost the local area now too. I then did a hard reset still no maps ,I installed the navigation maps from OVI. it updated the options to navigation but still no maps, so I am now at a loss I hope someone can help
