Whenever the phone is in camera mode, the zoom buttons don't zoom in or out or do anything. But when it is in music player mode they turn the volume up and down perfectly fine. Any ideas how to fix it or is a trip to Nokia Care needed? Would upgrading the firmware do anything to solve the problem?
View 2 RepliesHas anyone else noticed that after you have shot a video while using the volume/zoom switch to zoom in and out that when you play back the video you can hear the clicking of the switch? If you use the slide zoom on screen, the microphone also picks up the noise from your finger moving across the screen using that method too. This is a major problem as you cannot hear what you have filmed when you play it back, when I took it back to the shop where I purchased it from to explain about it they checked all the other N8's in the shop and they too had the same fault. Come on Nokia you managed to be able to get it right on my old N95-00 without it making the clicking noises,so you must be able to sort it out on the N8, the videos at the moment are unwatchable as all you hear is click, click ,click where the zoom button has been pressed. I bought this phone mainly for the excellent camera/video but at the moment all I have is a very expensive touch screen phone

This started when a call came and ever since then the phone is constantly vibrating. Can feel the motor running at the back but not sure why it is running in such a hyper mode. Not sure what the problem is.

My power button suddenly stopped working this morning. I think it may have worked once with a really long delay... But since then I have to tap my screen a few times to wake it up. I'm worried that if my battery ever runs flat I won't be able to turn my phone back on.
Then I have realised my volume and camera buttons dont work either. They definitely all worked yesterday.
I'm really not happy with this phone. I look after it properly, it cost me a lot of money not long ago, its kept in a protective case and has never been dropped etc. I spent more money than I could afford on a phone thinking I should buy the best I can and I shouldn't have a problem with it being Sony, but so far I have been disappointed with it.
I feel like this was a pretty popular request, and when we all saw the separate volume buttons, many said the same thing.finally we can hold the phone like a normal camera and not have to fiddle with touching the screen.Evidently not, seeing as nothing was mentioned of it in iOS4 or iPhone 4 keynotes, nor is it mentioned in feature overviews. Certainly not a deal breaker, just more of an annoyance. It's odd that Apple hasn't given us this feature without having to jailbreak, as I'd think the coding for it is very minimal.

Ive also tryed to update it and take out the battery for 5 mins and still nothing has happened. since i updated it the only thing that shows is the agreement thing and went the screen goes blank only the volume ones get the screen back. it does have water damage but that was a while ago

now when i am trying to watch a YouTube video for example, or typing clicks- there is no sound coming out of the phone speaker. whenever i press the volume buttons up/down, the "ringer" square comes on but no volume bars are displayed. whenever i watch a YouTube or listen to a podcast i can not raise or lower the volume on the screen either. i do hear the phone ring, and hear alarms through the speaker. I discovered that my Nokia 700 maps does not work properly. As I zoom in closer than 10km=1cm it just doesn't show any roads and not even cities. It just looks like there is missing content for that close image. I am watching the "Latvia" map and Riga city.

I've had to reboot my N5 each and every time, and its getting very old very fast. I find I have to go into settings and change it there. I've read that there might be an app running that is using my volume, not allowing me to change it. When I went into my apps to see what's running, its the usual stuff. Nothing that would be using it. So, is there an app to find out if there is a rogue app running I don't know about?

All of a sudden I have a problem with the volume on my phone. I know it isn't a problem with the speakers as all my videos play normally with sounds, and when I try to change the ringtone, it plays. However, I cannot adjust the volume using the volume buttons on the side, and the silence switch doesn't work...when I press any of them, there is no on screen confirmation of a change. The ohphone also doesn't play any noise when I have an incoming call or text. But I like I said, I can play videos with sound, I can go to settings and sound and hear the ringtones. I have reset, and restored the phone but nothing has made any difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI picked up my phone three days ago to find it had turned itself off, it had only been in my bag and then next to me on the floor. I turned it on to find that it turned on in safe mode. I took out the battery to reboot it in normal mode, and from then on none of the keypad buttons work. It is also still in safe mode. The touchscreen does work, but nothing else. I have taken out the battery multiple times to try and fix it but it doesn't work.

Other than macro mode I can see only red rectangular box (indicating improper focus?) and the photo seems to be blurred. Macro mode photos seems to be good. I would often try to increase or decrease the volume, and I realize I can't. I tried a battery pull hoping that would solve the issue. It's frustrating how a person can't hear music at all, and having no use of the volume buttons. I am still under my 30 day warranty, I'm considering taking it back and exchanging for a new one.
