IPhone :: New Separate Volume Buttons / But Still No Camera Shutter Button?
Jun 9, 2010
I feel like this was a pretty popular request, and when we all saw the separate volume buttons, many said the same thing.finally we can hold the phone like a normal camera and not have to fiddle with touching the screen.Evidently not, seeing as nothing was mentioned of it in iOS4 or iPhone 4 keynotes, nor is it mentioned in feature overviews. Certainly not a deal breaker, just more of an annoyance. It's odd that Apple hasn't given us this feature without having to jailbreak, as I'd think the coding for it is very minimal.
I know this is probably against the rules to repost what I said in another thread, but I'M DESPERATE! I beg forgiveness and leniency. I need to get the word out! I feel so small. I even tried emailing jobs.

ME: I seriously, 100% and completely agree with you. I really believe in the touch screen. I love it for everything I do on there. I don't think physical keyboards are easier like some people keep crowing, but GOD, the on-screen camera button is SO EFFING TERRIBLE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! It makes it so awkward to hold the phone and push the button. There is a level of deep-rooted frustration that pops up when using any piece of technology other than my iphone. The only time that frustrated feeling takes over with the iphone is when I have to use that on-screen button to take a picture. It's a pain in the ass, taking multiple pictures sucks, taking pictures quickly sucks, being unaware of my surrounding while i'm concentrating on threading the needle that is making sure i hit the button correctly sucks. It takes the fun out of photography, it takes the spontaneity away and negates the whole advantage of having a camera with you at all times.
Please somebody beg, borrow, or kidnap steve into making the Perfectly positioned to be a shutter button in a comfortable and funny way that just works. Volume button into a camera shutter / video start stop button when the camera button is open.or at least give me the option. I did some looking and the Camera Zoom 2 app has this as an option. Anybody know of any others? I don't like being stuck using a 3rd party camera app as I'd rather use the one that apple designed to work best with their camera. Maybe I'm just paranoid about other camera apps taking longer, and taking worse pictures, but I really want apple to make this an option.
is there an app that lets you use the iPhone 4's volume button as a shutter button for the camera? I remember I had an app like this when my iPhone - was jaillbroken
Can I change it to make a different sound? It is embarassing when I am playing a game on the toilette and then turn my phone off and it makes a camera click sound!
Just updated my phone to 5.1, when pressing the shutter button for quick way to take pictures, it now takes 30seconds for camera to come on screen then flickers and won't take a picture. Is there anyway I can reverse this upgrade as it has not improved anything on my phone, it is still very hard to hear when ringing or playing music and now I can't take pictures correctly.
Whenever the phone is in camera mode, the zoom buttons don't zoom in or out or do anything. But when it is in music player mode they turn the volume up and down perfectly fine. Any ideas how to fix it or is a trip to Nokia Care needed? Would upgrading the firmware do anything to solve the problem?
My power button suddenly stopped working this morning. I think it may have worked once with a really long delay... But since then I have to tap my screen a few times to wake it up. I'm worried that if my battery ever runs flat I won't be able to turn my phone back on.
Then I have realised my volume and camera buttons dont work either. They definitely all worked yesterday.
I'm really not happy with this phone. I look after it properly, it cost me a lot of money not long ago, its kept in a protective case and has never been dropped etc. I spent more money than I could afford on a phone thinking I should buy the best I can and I shouldn't have a problem with it being Sony, but so far I have been disappointed with it.
I just noticed this today that when I'm playing a song on my phone, the volume buttons act as the media player as well switching to the next song. I would often try to increase or decrease the volume, and I realize I can't. I tried a battery pull hoping that would solve the issue. It's frustrating how a person can't hear music at all, and having no use of the volume buttons. I am still under my 30 day warranty, I'm considering taking it back and exchanging for a new one.
My buttons seemed to have stopped working properly. In order to adjust the volume using the side button, I have to shut down the phone and then restart it. It will work for a while and then stops working and I have to go thru the process again. The home button just works whenever it wants. It doesn't fix the problem when I restart the phone. I can slide my finger in a circle around the button and it still doesn't work.
A month or so back my iPhone camera had something half blocking the lens. I was just wondering, is this the camera shutter? Or does the iPhone even have a shutter?
I had a Pearl 8120 before, and it had the ability to store different volume levels for handset, speakerphone and headset. The 9700 seems to have just one setting for all.If you change the volume on the speaker, the volume will also be changed for the headset.I find this rather annoying. Or did I overlook a setting somewhere to make it work?
One of the few things that mars the near perfect HTC One camera experience is the lack of volume rocker functionality when taking photos. The fact that it's not on by default is understandable, but that it's missing entirely is bewildering, what an oversight! Any chance there's a fix out there that doesn't involve using a different app?
two days ago i tried to launch my camera.app and the shutter wouldnt open. i tried hard resetting my iphone and resetting it from the settings>general>reset but it didnt help. i tried using an application from the appstore(camera+) but the screen was always black. today i updated to 5.1 and im still not able to get the shutter open.
i have tried everything as advised over the net. it seems that the last option for me it go to an apple store. but then again, i have been seeing this iphone 4 glitch topics as old as 2010. is mac doing something about it? iphone 4s is my first non sony ericsson phone (been using se since 2005) and with the product pull outs i have chosen iphone over samsung s2 and this is what i get. as much as possible i don't want to have my phone replaced. i bought my 4s last feb 19 and i can't believe this is happening!
has anyone been experiencing problems with their camera on the iphone 4s running ios 5.1? if you have and have found a solution, excluding having to send it back "home"
