IPhone :: Cannot Adjust Volume Using Side Buttons And Silent Switch Not Working
May 20, 2012
All of a sudden I have a problem with the volume on my phone. I know it isn't a problem with the speakers as all my videos play normally with sounds, and when I try to change the ringtone, it plays. However, I cannot adjust the volume using the volume buttons on the side, and the silence switch doesn't work...when I press any of them, there is no on screen confirmation of a change. The ohphone also doesn't play any noise when I have an incoming call or text. But I like I said, I can play videos with sound, I can go to settings and sound and hear the ringtones. I have reset, and restored the phone but nothing has made any difference.
My silent switch won't work. I tried plugging/unplugging earphones. The volume control doesn't work either, the volume just won't change either. The only way to change the volume is through the earphone's volume control.
I have an iPhone 4s (Verizon). I had recently purchased what was described as an OEM screen plus LCD after I had cracked my factory screen. After replacing the screen and LCD such features as the side volume controls, vibrate switch, and proximity switch (dimming after accepting a call) have stopped working. I double checked to see that all of the connectors were pushed on correctly and they were. Is it possible this may not be an OEM screen and causing the problem or is there a piece of the hardware that I may have damaged that controls all of these functions (i.e. motherboard)?
My recently purchased Iphone 5 works great with one annoying issue.¬ The volume buttons on the side are reversed.¬ The button with the minus sign increases the volume and is directly underneath the mute toggle.¬ The button with the plus sing decreases the volume.¬
I have reset all settings. Sometimes when I press the volume up button the ringer symbol shows up. When I double tap the home button a slide to the left the volume is completely none. I cannot slide or use the buttons to change.
I am new to BB and am learning my way through it. Hopefully this is just a setting, but there are 3 buttons on the right side of the phone. The one near the bottom is for the camera, and there are a couple above that that the user guide says are the volume buttons. When I press the them to increase or drecrease the volume, nothing happens.
Okay, Blackberry Curve 8350 Sprint and uh, it's black.I just got it in the mail and activated it today, but, I can't get my volume buttons on the side to change the volume. But, when it's in sleep mode, it lights up if I press the volume buttons, but, it doesn't actually change the volume.
I've bought my 5800 XM yesterday. Today I was playing some music and noticed that the sidevolume buttons don't work when keypad is locked! It's very difficult to take out the phone from your pocket and then adjust the volume or change the track unless you have put on the handsfree. Please let me know if there is any fix for this.
I have had the Bold 9700 since like the end of May 2010. This is actually my 2nd one because the first one I got was defective (the 3/R button didn't work)..so I got a new Bold 9700 via DOA. Two days ago, I noticed that my phone would restart when i press the two volume buttons at the same time. If I press one of them, it still works perfectly. However, I use a case so sometimes I accidentally hit the two volume buttons together and my phone reboots.I'm not too sure if this problem just started to occur like recently because I never noticed if I ever hit the volume keys together at the same times before. I don't think it's a software problem but I'm running on the original Rogers OS 126.96.36.1991. I never bothered to upgrade because .351 seems to work pretty well already.
I've had this problem for a while and now I'm getting work I don't want to miss my phone because I've put it on dead mode. Before I factory reset my phone, I was able to change my volume using the side buttons to go from different levels of sound, then vibrate only, then dead mode (complete silent and no vibrations). Now I only have different levels of sound and dead mode. I read about changing an option in sounds to vibrate only in silent mode, which will fix this but I can't find that either (my suspicians are that this option was taken out in ICS or moved to a secret location to foil my plans).
Every once in a while the lock key and camera buttons all stop working, they just don't do anything. After a time they all start working again. I've taken the phone in for repair twice, but I suppose with it being an intermittent problem they've had trouble tracking down what's going on. Anyone any ideas why this is happening? Is it a software problem as it happens to buttons on both sides at the same time?
On my iphone 4, the volume buttons all of a sudden stopped turning up or down the volume. This is also bad because I cant do bitesms quick reply. Im sure that this is a software issue but does anyone know what the problem is or what cydia app/theme/etc would have caused this?
iphone 4 volume and mute buttons not working, checked all settings they are all fine and when headphones in it works??? When I take out headphones the volum buttons do not work, when phone rings or text receives only vibrates?
Today I was trying to turn up the volume for my ringer, however neither the or button will make the volume bar show up. These buttons work while adjusting the volume during a phone call. But do not work for music or the ringer.
the keyboard and buttons on the side and top on my 8900 simply stopped working, in that they will no longer activate the phone even though I know the phone to be on.The phone is a PAYG handset on Orange, whom I have contacted and was told that because the unit is over 12 months old (18months) I must contact Blackberry. There are unfortunately no support telephone numbers apparent on the site, so this seems to be my only option! This is incredibly annoying as I need to use the phone on a daily basis for email, etc!
my volume on my iPhone isnt working right. this is a 4S, and over 2yrs old. i've never had problems with buttons before¬
now when i am trying to watch a YouTube video for example, or typing clicks- there is no sound coming out of the phone speaker. whenever i press the volume buttons up/down, the "ringer" square comes on but no volume bars are displayed. whenever i watch a YouTube or listen to a podcast i can not raise or lower the volume on the screen either. i do hear the phone ring, and hear alarms through the speaker. ¬
i have tried a 'shut down' and then a 'reset' (pressing power/home button together to power down). but i could not lower or raise volume either.¬ i can listen w/headphones, and AirPlay. i updated the iOS a while ago (2 months?) and this happened much after the update.
I have just updated my bold 9700 to O/S 6 bundle 2949 and since the update the up volume key is not working. Volume down works fine. The volume buttons were working fine before the update on the previous O/S 6 bundle ?
A few months ago on my 3G, I tried switching my silent switch over and it wouldn't stay silent. The switch does go fully to the left side, but it doesn't do the typical vibrate and show the silent graphic on the phone. BUT if I ever so slightly nudge it to the left it does go to silent but there is no way to keep it in place.
It is almost as if there is something in the way or maybe there is a short? My warranty is no longer valid, but the phone is in perfect condition, has been cased. It makes no sense.
Anybody have any advice, because I would like to sell the phone soon but obviously do not want to sell it without the silent working. I guess I could go to a cell phone repair shop but they charge a $30 diagnosis fee and then apply that to the repair. I do not want to get screwed.Anybody have ANY advice or experience with the switch conking out on them. Any home remedies?
