I don't remember exactly what happened, but my phone was quite slow before I rebooted it. After booting, every message in conversations disappeared (text messages and im).Now when I get now messages, those appear normal in those new messages, but when I try to reopen those from conversations, it says no conversations. Even messages I sent doesn't appear there.
Something is not right with my N900, I woke up today and found that my N900 is switched off and i try to switch it back on but it wont boot up, it got stuck on the Nokia logo and then thats it, it just goes blank and completely off again, also the LED is glowing lemon-green while the screen is blank and going off. I remember before going asleep that the battery power is on 50% or more.
My recently installed items are Black Plastic Theme, some loopable wallpaper from N900wallpaper website and the multiplayer Super Mario from the Extras-repo which I wanted to try but got really sleepy, also its OC'ed to 1Ghz under ideal settings using Titans kernel.
I tried removing the battery and waited 30 seconds and plugin the USB cable (PC-to-N900 coz thats how I always recharge) and it booted up like everything is okay. Can someone give me an idea of what could be possibly wrong with this coz I was really alarmed and kinda freaked out.
Installed "enhanced kernel (titan) for power users" from my install list in application manager, as part of trying to get the Mobile Hotspot app to work. I was advised to do so by some very knowledgeable N900 users on this forum. Well...long story short(er)...loading the kernel did not make mobile hotspot work, so I decided to uninstall and revert back to the factory kernel. I did so using the "uninstall" app that came with the titan kernel....the screen went blank about half way through the process,...gave me a message that "kernel couldn't be removed". Thereafter, upon rebooting the phone, the N900 just sits there and reboots, reboots, reboots now...never completing a reboot before rebooting again. Sever has informed me that someone might be able to tell me how to reboot into update mode instead of Maemo for flashing....perhaps being able to just flash the kernel instead of the whole OS,...which I'll do if necessary.
i got my n900 the day before i went on a 6 week holiday and initially everything seemed fine, i quite liked using it whilst away. Then after a couple of days i noticed it was rebooting unexpectedly. after a couple of weeks of these silly reboots it just stoped rebooting and it just gets stuck with the white dots. i've read lots of threads that say do this and that but none of the replies seem to be speciic to my issue. I've charged the battery for a couple of hours and tried the boot up with U key depressed but nothing seems to allow it to boot. i am a total linux noob and thought this device might be a useful as an introduction to the OS but i am very dispoainted so far. If i flash the device will i loose all the data that is currently stored on the device, all my recent holiday snaps and videos? i just want to get a working device and not loose all the good memories currently stored on it.
My N900 has Scandinavian (Finnish) keyboard. After installing a couple of games(Duke nukem 3d and Abuse) and I think one of these probably crashed, it got left in US keyboard mode (I think). I see that there is a new file created called /home/user/int_kb_layout that has string "us" inside it. Just deleting this file and restarting the phone does not help. Searching around I find that perhaps some tool called /usr/bin/gconftool-2 might need to be used, but I got more confused. Therefore I might ask in general how one can get back their default keyboard maps for their N900?
Could someone help me to solve this problem with my device? I have flashed my device fw and emmc after its brick. The flashing seemed successfully, but when i try to install some apps like fm radio it returns an error message in which inform me that some installation packages are lost like python2.5. How could solve this and have a functional device again?
I have been using an N900 for more than a month now and I had an iph0ne 2g before. Yesterday, I was trying to locate a place (London) using Ovi maps and I got completely lost. I never had such a problem before with google maps which pinpoint my location much more precisely (using EDGE) than Ovi maps using GPS. It might be that I am just dumb but has anyone had the same experience? how can I make Ovi maps more precise? using 3g instead of GPS?Many thanks for your time reading this and your reply if any.
With the upgrade we got the ability to Delete mail off the server for POP3 (i.e., Yahoo.) But we lost in other areas here is what is happening: I have Yahoo and Gmail through the N900 email client. Both only receive mail when you hit Send/Receive. I have selected in Settings to update email every 15 minutes. For Yahoo it will update (you see the time change) but no mail will show up. So it's going through the motions but not executing. For Gmail there is no update the time doesn't change nothing happens. Every now and again mail will show up during the day very sporadic - certainly not when you have selected to "update" the mail. When you wake up in the morning Yahoo will say you have no mail you can hit send/receive manually but I have had to turn off the phone and turn it back on to get Yahoo rolling again. Gmail will have mail no idea when it came in overnight but at least it's there. I have deleted and reinstalled the mail accounts off the N900 several times to no avail.
I tend to use the virtual keyboard when sending sms text in conversations. My question is when ive finished typing the message i cannot see any key to take me back to where you press the 'send' button.I end up having to touch the space on the screen above my message to take me to where the send button. Is this the only way ? Nokia n900.
Just recently, for no apparent reason, I have had some serious problems with my N900!When I try to send/receive a message, it comes up with an error every 30secs "Unable to send/receive messages. Device storage full. Free user space." However, device storage is NOT full. Rootfs is at 76%.I have two corrupt messages in Conversations, which cannot be deleted. Pressing Delete or Clear Conversation simply does nothing. I also have about 4 calls in recent calls which do not delete. I belive the database is corrupted, and this is causing the problem.
I CANNOT re-flash at the moment, my USB port is broken. However, I can change anything through SSH or xTerm. Is it possible to simply navigate to the Conversations/Call Logs files through SSH, and delete them, or replace them with virgin ones, to fix this issue??
It says "Unable to receive or send new messages. Device storage full. Remove data to free memory."It has 21GB of space left.I've made 7 calls since I bought it 7 days ago. I've made 50 text messages. I have 780 songs and 10 videos and 200 pictures. It still has 21GB and says that I have enough storage for everything.I need this message to stop, It keeps popping up every minute. I takes a while to get messages and I've turned it on and off.. I've removed the battery and restarted it.
I've just bought the N900, but when I get a text message and try to open and read it, I immediately get to the reply window. I want to know how I can read the full message.
I performed updated from Anna to Belle today for my girlfriend on Nokia C7. I synchronized contacts, calendar and notes via iSync on my Mac OS. After update all messages are erased and she had important information there. I read in trouble shooting, that:: What should I do if the automatic restore of my phones content doesnâ work after I did the update to Nokia Belle and I dont see my contacts, calendar, bookmarks, etc.?A: The backup of your phone content is stored under C:Users[username]DocumentsNokia SuiteBackups and includes "Nokia_Belle_Update" in the filename. If the automatic restore doesn't work, you can try to restore your contents manually by opening the "Tools menu" in Nokia Suite and selecting "Restore".
I installed Ovi Suite on Mac and downloaded extra support for C7, but I couldn't restore that information. She never installed Ovi Suite on her PC. My question is: is she installs Ovi Suite for PC on her laptop, will she be able to restore old messages? I recently switched to Belle as well on my Nokia N8, but I'm not that crazy about old messages, so I haven't noticed it. I checked on my phone using Files disk C, but there wasn't any folders with my username.
I have updated my N95 from 21.0.016 to 31.0.017. It went OK, as it says in updater application. But when I tried to restore back up all contacts, messages and settings were lost. What can I do to restore at least contacts?
my nokia 5800 has been weird for some time now ..it restarts itself every now and then it has like vertical grey and black lines ..and red and black horizontal lines other times ..now it just restarted itself and i found NO MESSAGES anymore .. all my files were gone it was overloaded with +1000 inboxes and sent items ..but how come i get to lose them in a glance?
I've had this 5800 XpressMusic phone for almost a year now and have really never had any complaints. Up until today. I sent an SMS to someone earlier today and when I went into my inbox to check another message the phone popped up an error. It told me it could not access the memory and would save SMS to phone memory from now on. I had previously set it to save all SMS to the micro SD card. When I went to the "Settings" to change it back to saving everything to the SD card, it didn't work.
As soon as it was set back to "memory card", my inbox showed up as empty. All my messages are gone. Is there a way to get these messages back? I've tried restarting the phone, removing the memory card and reinserting it, using PC Suite to access the messages, but so far nothing has worked. The only thing that appears to be gone are the sent and received text messages. Everything else still seems to be intact on the micro SD card.
i realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.
my nokia e90is not booting up, it is showing the nokia logo and then that charging signal on putting the ac adapter, even tried that hard resetting but it didn't work, now my e90 is a brick.
I can't turn on the phone because the phone stacks in a blank Nokia logo and then turns off. When I try to connect in the PC nothing happens and when I try to put the battery into the device. it turns on by itself and restarting sevaral times. I dont know what kind of problem I am facing.
So I was having issues with getting my usb cable to charge with my phone, and also my phone kept turning on and off, but then netquin antivirus says it has detected multiple startups and has disabled all startup programs, and now my phone will not boot and I cant even recover the data using USB cable. I am unable to do a hard reset because I have alot of important contacts and photos on there...
my 5800XM turn off automatically while booting up. To be precise, it turn off when the screen is showing a white background with a blue nokia word in the middle.
are there any benefits to dual booting android? do we get the benefits of it i.e. google maps, the app store and flash 10, or is it merely the visuals?
Suddenly one day my nokia E71 phone got switched off. When I tried switching on, it gave me the startup vibration and then display back light, thats it. Its not booting further and not able to get nokia handshake screen.
I tried all the below possible ways to fix this problem, but still no use, nothing is worked for me.

While playing Superbowl the handset started to behave differently. After exiting the game some questions marks (????) appeared on the desktop and instead of icons there were only little titles there. Tried restarting the handset resulted in failure to do so (not booting).
I have noticed that some of my old text message on my bb torch no longer seem to appear. They show in the sms folder highlighted green i.e as it shows a draft sms however when I click into them there is nothing in there. Does anybody know what the reason for this is and how I can fix it/get these messages back or at least stop it from doing it again.
I have already set the storage to keep forever so should not be deleted automatically.
I have lost my text messages and my BBM. I have tried the "Unhide" function and it is not there. I have tried the "Options, General Options" answer, but the general options is not there either. I only have email on my phone.
i just updated my phone (which i have done before) and this time I have lost all my messages and some of these contained pictures i wanted to keep please tell m,e there is a way of retrieving them as I need them. i have updated my phone before this has never happened
I updated my phone since it had become really slow and I was facing a lot of problems with it.. I used the Backup and restore app and took backup of my data. After the update, however, when I tried to restore my data, I get the error msg that the ' Cannot read selected backup file'I have lost a lot of very important contacts n msgs..
I recorded a voice memo and pressed Share via mms. The screen went blank and came back on and now all my sms messages have gone!My fiancee died last November so I have just lost the last two years of texts between us and am pulling my hair out in frustration. I know I should have backed it up on the pc but that blew up a year ago and I haven't been able to get it replaced. I've read several boards on here about similar situations but I cannot get an answer that'll work for me. I have turned it off and on; I have done a soft reset but nothing. The availible memory hasn't gone up so I'm hoping they are still there.
