Mar 31, 2012My voicemail messages suddenly won't open. When I try to play new ones, the time bar (the one that moves as the voicemail plays) drops the actual voicemail's lenght and shows "0:00", then it acts like it is loading, but the voicemail DISAPPEARS!! Not good, especially if it was actually an important message. This does not appear to be a carrier issue, this seems to be an Apple issue.

Even after several resets etc. we were able to leave a message but never got a notification of a voicemail. When I manually dialed into my voicemail, the new message was there.

Jan 18, 2010Ok so besides the inaccurate timestamp issue that they haven't fixed yet, I'm also having an issue when deleting messages. The first time I select and delete a message from the VVM folder it doesn't actually delete the message from my voicemail and if I call VM it is still listed as an unheard message. So then I manually reconcile in the VVM folder and the previously deleted message comes back and it's not till I delete it the second time that it actually removes it from the voicemail system.

It does not go into a deleted folder, it is just gone. I started paying attention to the dates of the messages, wondering if it automatically deleted a message after 30 days. But today my messages from April 12 were gone. I can't find anyone else who has this problem! Sprint is my carrier.

The screen went blank and came back on and now all my sms messages have gone!My fiancee died last November so I have just lost the last two years of texts between us and am pulling my hair out in frustration. I've read several boards on here about similar situations but I cannot get an answer that'll work for me. I have turned it off and on; I have done a soft reset but nothing. The availible memory hasn't gone up so I'm hoping they are still there.

Jun 1, 2012I just upgraded an iphone 3gs from 3.1.2 to 5.1.1 and it properly updated the firmware then at the end tried to restore the data. While restoring it kept prompting me for a password which I don't have any setup so I pressed cancel and it started synchronizing but my messages and notes are not showing up! I'm particularly concerned because I checked the size of the backup and it's like 200 mb! that seems very small.Is there a way I can fix this so it sync back everything properly and otherwise how can I restore to my previous backup with the previous firmware?

The conclusion I've come to is that you can on iOS 4 (the text message files are actually still there until you sync next), but that isn't true for iOS 3. Is that true? I would very much like to get back some text messages that I've deleted on an IPhone 3G using iOS 3. It has not been synced since I deleted the messages, but the last backup I have is before I received the messages.
